Amazing restoration, and what a surprise to see my logo being etched! That made me chuckle.

While not the intent with this build, but with the effect of from the CD coating and the pre-painted clear wheels you had the beginnings of a strong vaporwave (or perhaps even cyberpunk) aesthetic that would be interesting to see explored.
Yup, I had the same thought when I saw that iridescent effect and I think that sort of aesthetic would really match this car.
Even the body of the car looks like the very vehicle that visited me when I caught the vapors while viewing vaporware videos, that was a vivid specter of spectra-flame vivisected into a vibrant pink and purple. It was quite the vision.
Yeah
Ayyyyy. Casey putsch is making a real life replica of this car. Except with a V12. Btw I love your content
You beat me to it lol
This went a lot faster than Casey's, haha!
Casey is one of my favorite youtubers! Cant wait to see the genius garage lykan
Thinking the same thing.
Damn, you beat me as well. I respectfully admit defeat lol.
That gunmetal grey paint job was absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!!
I am happy you are back. Thank you for putting the time and effort into doing this as a hobby. I have taken this up as a hobby when I was first introduced to your channel. This has helped me with my mental wellbeing, especially over the past year.
The cd coating actually gave it that futuristic heads up or windshield computer interface display look to it. Cool vid and great work
You should really do a video where you take a modern car and make it look like a classic redline!
would love to see that tbh
@@fordguyjames same here
@@fordguyjames I'm a customizer myself(@dhackcustoms on ig), and I've done it once or twice, but I don't have access to redline tires, plus, BMHW is much more skilled at it then me, as I stick to mad max cars
I believe he did that on a rodger dodger a while back
@@Zed32_Customs I more meant like, take a brand new, just released casting, and make it look almost identical to a classic redline, as in enough to trick a not so savvy collector, or enough to where, from afar, it can be mistaken as a real redline, its so accurate
The back wheel looks fine the front might need to be a little smaller.
I agree, and even just a little smaller would be still fine.
agreed
"Smaller" might be the answer but clear side elevation images of the prototype would probably help a lot. Dunno if such a thing exists, though!
Altering this URL to prevent filtering but ... fristartmuseum org 1970-lancia-stratos-hf-zero has a nice side elevation of the car.
@@plaws0 what do you mean by "side elevation"?
Woooah - sum it up. You can: paint parts using brushes, aerograph, poweder coat, you can etch, use electrolysis, plate parts, and apply metallic paint. You can make stickers, laser etch, and wet transfer. You can 3D print parts from resin, cast from metals and plastic, and uh, cut from CDs. You have full paint booth, nice surface to work with and decent camera setup. You're narrating your videos with calm, rich voice, explaining step by step, and building library of how-to videos while sharing your project cars, or other way around, while showing off your projects you're teaching the community how things are done, while also mentioning don'ts, pitfalls and failures. The last part never changed, but you've come long way from start of your channel.
It looks pretty darn cool to me, and I like the cd windshield idea very cool.
My dad and uncle had redlines and there still at my grandpas house and I really wish I could play with and restore
Them but poor grandpa is old and he isn’t able to get them from upstairs and send them. My dad wished he could see them again too. You are my Favorite creative youtuber and I look at you as my favorite guide. I am so happy we ACTUALLY met, Thank you so much Zack.
The CD plastic windshield is something that I would never think of. Its awesome how innovative and passionate about this hobby you are.
Id love a tutorial on your cd technique! Id love to make windscreens and lenses for my scale models.
For applying the transfer paper to the metal, using a tool called a brayer lets you apply pressure evenly. Just something I came across some years ago for similar applications, thanks for the videos!
You remind me of something my grandfather used to always say. "There's always a way if you're interested"!
13:03 You, sir, are one of the most classiest RUclipsrs I know.
havent watched in a while and im very impressed at how your techniques have evolved over the years
I miss this channel man used to love when I saw a new upload
What a beautiful build and what a beautiful selection of color. You are right, the wheels on the front need to be resized and made a little smaller.
This is an incredible resto-mod. The stance and colors used for this car redefine its character completely in a revamped, wicked-beastly cool way. Fabulous job and amazing creativity!
Look great, maybe a smaller front wheel.
It's a thriller of a car (thanks for the '80s flashback!)
The CD windshield is neat but I feel like it needs some kind of curve instead of being flat.
I originally put a curve in using the heat gun.... the problem is that the plastic becomes super brittle....
@@baremetalHW You could try with some polycarbonate sheet. I've used that to make a few cockpits and it's quite easy to work with.
Go dig up the Frist Museum page on the prototype - I'm sure the windshield/door has a *little* curve to it ... but watch the video. It's pretty damn close to flat!
@@baremetalHW Would boiling water be hot enough to allow it to be shaped?
@@toypolloi I'm reasonably sure that a CD is polycarbonate, no?
That CD windshield is amazing, this build is stunning
Regular uploads are back! YES!!!
What a fantastic result! So many steps and different processes, there's a true quality to your craft. Happy you're back, your channel got me interested again in diecast cars and modding them at an adult age. Cheers!
I realized while watching this that the video we all need is a collection reveal. I want, NEED, to see your stash.
man i could listen to this guy talk for hours on end and not get bored
This looks awesome, his skills have improved since I last saw his videos.
one of the few youtube channels i watch on normal speed thanks for making these videos
Lol... that's great because I can talk at a hundred miles an hour and go to a lot of trouble to slow down so people can understand me.
Hey BM, always enjoy your videos, I gotta make some constructive criticism about the tyres, the ones you printed were far too tall in the sidewall and lacked a very necessary vintage sidewall profile, Modern radials are more flat sides and square to the tread while classic vintage tyres with a racing style to them have the sidewall bow out then taper back inwards to the tread and rim, also that period a small guide ring was moulded into the tyre to help guide a thin white line so popular in Europe back then, tyre profile is VEEEEERY important to keeping things period correct and stand out a LOT to a car guy like me, anyway just my opinion
I will have to say, I really enjoy your videos. You are always improving your skills, like the photo etch. You have inspired me in a lot a ways in hobby world. Thanks for taking the time to share what you have learned on the way.
Man you're amazing. You've taken things that like 95% of people would throw in the trash and turned them into something 100% of people would love to own. Even if you don't like toys or cars you can appreciate the amount of skill and effort it self and makes the item worthy of a place in any home.
I miss this channel. Please come back :(
Boss that Windshield outta a CD disc is AWESOME looking and a great use of a repurposed material.. You really are Great at what you do. I'm just starting on my first car and I love watching you.
*WHEELS ARE PERFECT, FRONT AND REAR!* ...not mentioning the painting, great job! 👏👏👏
That CD windshield would have looked amazing on this with the body color.
I love that you're back and keep going above and beyond with your cars! The result is awesome!
Beautiful work! I like the CD windshield.
Easily the coolest custom I've ever seen
Long live the king. Incredible work on display here....
It looks great. The CD plastic is in the thick side but it actually looks fine. Great paint job!
My favorite thing about Aircraft® brand paint stripper is the big warning on the label: NOT FOR USE ON AIRCRAFT.
The car came out amazing, particularly given what a state it was in at the start, but I think you're right that the wheels are too big. In the comparison shot, the restored one looks like it's in some kind of spurious "off-road" mode like they always used to give supercars in TV shows in the '80s and '90s. :)
You sir, are the Mr Wizard of matchbox car building. Turned out quite nice, using cd plastic is inspired, especially that incredible rainbow finish it leaves. The tires look amazing, and the gunmetal is a great choice for body color. Great video all around.
I love the gunmetal silver look and the bigger wheels give the car a much improved appearance.
Love it! so glad you are back. best videos to watch while eating a snack.
Wow, what a stunning car. Your restoration really brought it back to life, amazing work!
A new Baremetal HW video!!!
I see.... I click....
Love the way a small history of the car is included in the video....
It's always so good to watch your work, it is awesome! CD windshield looks marvelous, in line with 80-s and "outrun aesthetics", just as those bigger wheels. I am not doing any restorations myself, but I think that you did right this these decisions. Thank you for all you hard work and I am so glad you returned! =)
The gun metal grey looks so awesome ! Great to have a new video after a long day at work !
Awesome car. Once again, it's great to have you back.
This video helped me understand why the rear engine stratos is a terrifying car to drive
that photo etching is pretty cool. Stuff I never thought was quite that easy. I'll definitely keep it in mind as an option in future projects.
I love your videos you hadn't uploaded in a while but one of ur newer vids got in my recommended great to see your back
Excellent video. Always top quality in your videos and always in depth. They are chill and fun to watch. Keep on going.
This was awesome, you inspired me to customize my own cars
That is VERY good looking. Outstanding job on this one!
Outstanding! Nice to have you back! What a cool car!
Man I just LOVE how this guy does WHATEVER he wants. So friggin awesome man
The CD windshield looked amazing! Would love to see a cyberpunk themed build with something like that.
Wow, very interesting build especially with all the extra processes.....well done!
I miss this channel!!
Glad to see you back at it! You really show some cool tricks that I will eventually try with my own remakes.
Love your videos. Very informative. You asked about the tires, honestly I think they a little big but it is amazing how you do the work. Thanks.
Lol.. I agree... but easy to fix..
Thanks for showing the photo etch technique. I'm definitely going to try this on my brass jewelry pieces.
I think the rear wheels look right but if you put a smaller tire on the front would it drop the nose downa bit?
Yes... it would give it a slight rake.
Love this! The tweaks you added, like the windscreen... brilliant.
I watched all your videos like a year ago and i must say you pumped up your restoration game by a lot! this is awesome!
I agree with trying to minimize gaps in the wheel well but for this car the smaller wheels in the back REALLY do something for me, not sure why but for this particular model the smaller wheels are a must. As always great work and thank you for sharing.
CD windshield was an awesome idea and does look cool. I like the beefier tires on it with the dark color. Makes it look nearer to a Batmobile. Definitely looks better than the orange one for details and scale.
Insane amount of work. The cd effect works so well with this car specifically
I love the CD windshield! awesome restoration! love the backstory also...
And I meant a real mustang not a toy car. But I'm going to say you're painted version is way better than the one on the right you did an awesome job and I am so happy that your back making videos.
Oh my gosh this is awesome. I love seeing you go for as detailed as possible type projects sometimes.
All is looking well, I'd would prefer proportional wheels...otherwise the restoration looks fab!
Awesome final result. Thanks for the quick photo-etch primer.
Original wheels look alittle more true to life. But you did an amazing job!👍
This looks so cool! I would love a 68 fastback mustang painted just like it.
I love the job you did on the car the cd windshield is a great touch it made the car pop as well as the wheels and I love the paint job everything Blended together really well it looks like a masterpiece perfect for displaying in a case look forward to seeing what other diecast cars you restore.
The CD window really works with such a cool car.
I love the sounds of your parakeets in the background. I had some for about a year but my parents decided to give them a better home because they would get pretty loud and my brothers would scold them to be quiet. My cat would also go after them so we gave them away to a nicer home which also had more parakeet. They made friends and that's the last I heard about them.
Sorry to hear that... we have 3 and when they hear me talking they think it is some sort of competition...
@@baremetalHW they definitely get loud, but they were fun to be around when they weren't screaming. The house is too quiet now
Amazing car, dig it. Also love the 3D effect. Perfect car to ride the vapor of cyberspace.
neer seen this casting before but you killed it with the paint scheme and recreated parts. amazing job
Thanks for this video. Loved the 3D and comic book backstory.
You're a wizard!! Excellent work.
Love watching you work. Have learned a lot about different techniques I use in my own hobby
Custom and repro parts, printed wheels and tyres, etched details, powder coated base, it was nice to see you go all out on this one.
I agree on the width of the rear wheels, it looks so good with big fat rear supercar tyres, and you're right that the profile of the wheels is too high. Keep the original height just add width.
The video flew by, enjoyed it start to finish 😊 great job thank you 👍
This is otherworldly! Amazing skills and outstanding effect!
Excellent video!
You're back in form!
Very cool build. The windshield is a brilliant idea.....the wheels look great....the tires are way too big. But easy fix for you. Great restoration over all
Very cool project; so much effort. I'm happy just doing wheel swaps; this is next level.
it's actually a great job. I also miss your videos dude. Keep up the good work.
Wow Zack, this is a beautiful car! Super job! I can’t complain about any of the elements, I like them all: the tires and hubs, the windshield, the paint, the satin finish. - so cool.
As per usual…stunning and original.
It looks great! Thanks for sharing this great restoration.
I love how that windshield turned out! I was originally expecting you to copy the first windshield and print out a new one that would have been slightly bigger, and just trim it down.
Much better powder coat! I like the car the way you did it. That windshield is cool!
i like the cd windscreen. gives it an 80's futuristic look
A really beautiful car. The gun metal colour is spot on. Amd the windshield with the effects looks really awesome. So great work Sir.
Always great to see new tips and tricks But I still love watching you restore a good old Redline. Cheers baremetal.
