Exploring an Abandoned Funeral Home with Power Still On 💀
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 17 сен 2024
- In this episode we check out an abandoned funeral home that dates back a century and a half. Amazingly, even though the building is completely water-logged and collapsing, power still runs through it. It was also astounding how much was left behind, including caskets, embalming tools, and a hearse.
Apologies if the pacing towards the end of the video feels kind of fast. We had a few corrupted files which left us with fewer clips to work with for the video.

I like how respectful everyone is. No one's breaking shit or forcing doors open. They place items back where they found them. This is how urban exploration should be done.
i saw a video last week of two guys exploring the abandoned Memorial Mound Funeral Home in Alabama, and they were being tooo disrespectful, throwing stuff around and everything.
Hence the name _"Proper People"_
I saw a vid of this same place just weeks before this was published, and there's been so much damage since just then!!
Well, you can't really have your faces on camera while destroying property. Not saying they would, they are obv very respectful in all the videos i've watched, but putting vids on youtube of yourself destroying property wouldn't be smart.
Imagine how many people's loved ones were prepared for their final journeys right there on that table.
The intro legit scared me lmao

glad I wasn't the only one 😂
You might anonymously contact a local historical society or something. They could be very interested in contracting the owner about the burial records if they go back so far.
The funeral home that they explored was called the Moulton & Kyle Funeral home, in Florida. It operated since 1851, and in the 1990's it was renamed "Kyle McLellan Funeral Services". The place then closed a few years later. The state of Florida forgot about the place, and literally just left it sitting, with the power still on. A portion of the roof soon collapsed due to neglect, and judging by satellite view on Google Earth, another portion is ready to cave in.
Now its just a health hazard to the homeless people that inhabit it.
The Plague looks wierd if you ever wanted to film a zombie movie that place would be great
The Plague I'm going there sometime next month, I need to know how they got in, I'm so scared of going and then getting into trouble for trespassing
Plague's Nation so maybe that information could be given to the historical society or somewhere to get the ashes and maybe bury them... there are cemeteries with areas for unclaimed or john does. Or also to pick up those books etc to have in there files? Just a thought because i have no idea. Just is so amazing to me the things left in abandoned places for so many years that are never taken.
Plague's Nation Thank you soo much for sharing the location and history on this. Your information really helps to complete this video.
That old Cadillac hearse needs to be rescued.
I’m four years late, but yes. Not many left.
I'm guessing it's a '67 or a '68.
@@FriedAudio I think you’re about right. I had the chance to drive a ‘70 in the summer if 2019. It was awesome. Also driven an 84 fleet wood Brougham many times. I painted it metal flake purple.
@@FriedAudio 67, 472 engine.
Definitely don't check how long a state keeps title records. Definitely don't compare that against how long the place has been abandoned. Certainly do not back a trailer up and get a conditional title on it.
I feel so bad for the homeless man :( hes living in a decomposing death bed, with others dead ashes.
Literally still shivering at the thought of that.
Hey man, we're all living with somebody else's dead ashes. We're just afraid when something reminds us that we're going to die. The homeless dude is already dead on the inside and thus has no fear of sleeping in the back of an abandoned hearse.
Bud he had electricity and perhaps more privacy.
Who says he was alive to begin with.? 👻
Hes probably just happy to have somewhere warm to sleep!
ImagineDumbledoreInASpeedo talk about rock bottom
If nothing else, the owner of the property could at least attempt to salvage that old coke vending machine...collectors pay damn good money for those things.
XD you made me laugh so hard X,D
+09mikesvids wait there were urns with human remains?? and they don't care about it??
The caskets would have value as well.
The coke machine ain't that old u dipstick yank, it got Diet Coke in it & was 45 cents
Those caskets to oddity collectors (which there is a shop in Orlando and a shop in Tampa specializing in selling stuff of the bizarre nature) are worth some major coin. The poison bottles are worth easy money. the hearse is worth good money... that book full of info you see when they were trying to figure out how much a burial cost back in the late 1800s... even in a rough condition like it is you can fetch some good money for..... To the oddity collectors there is probably 10s of thousands of dollars (maybe collectively over a 100 grand) sitting in this place.
That one was amazing. It was like a scene from a horror movie. That one room that you lit up with the staircase in it and the chandelier hanging with that creepy looking furniture behind was just brilliant. Thank you.
It's kinda sad that there were urns full of ashes just left there
that's why I prefer burial.
first name last name as a funeral director I can assure you your organs are not pumped out (normally), the process I assume you are referring to is embalming and it is not necessary for burial.
Father Ryan Smith oh sorry I thought you meant embalment
first name last name that's alright.
Stuffed full of cotton?! 😂😂😂 this isn't taxidermy!!! When you're embalmed they use embalming fluid (formaldehyde) not cotton!!
I know it's considered stealing but it's ashamed all those photos and log books sitting there possibly gonna be trashed in the future and no one can do anything about it to keep it preserved - On another note all those wasted cakets that could have been donated to people who cannot afford for a family member who passed away - Nice video
+Bonnie Burger Its not stealing,...it is all abandoned...it is sacred history.
+P Fletch it is technically stealing, because someone owns the property even though it's up for sale. it's owned by the funeral home coordinator or what not he is called. they cannot take anything without asking to take it first. and in which case is stealing
Just blame it I=on the homeless guy... He musta run off with it,,,,
Bonnie Burger I agree! A lot of these things need to be donated to a museum! Such a shame & waste of precious history! Call who owns it & ask!
True about the caskets not close to that opening in the roofing looked new
11:07 especially those caskets
11:54 that's nice y'all did that God the Father God the Son God the Holy Spirit bless these young men's efforts. Please Sir watch over them in their explorations. Holy Father in the name of your Son Jesus I pray Amen.
*I know you guys don't take stuff, but i so would have taken that book from 1895 just to save it*

4:10 Jesus Christ! That's a Hammond A-100 (basically the same as the legendary B3) organ, those things are worth an absolute fortune, $2000 at least. I'd kill to get my hands on that thing.
By the way, to turn that thing on you have to flip one switch that engages the tone wheel, then you flip the other switch on and let go of the first one.
add another 2 zeros to that...Hammond organs are 200 grand in mint shape but this one is fucked and needs a ton of work but it's still worth at least 10 gs
@@mogesay They really arent though. I'm no expert, but a quick google search showed mint ones barely scratching 10gs if that.
It depends on the model, age and condition of each Hammond organ. If it hasn't been played in more than a decade, it will take a lot more than 5 minutes to fire it back up, and will require a lot of oil for the tonewheel generator. Took me two weeks of twice daily oilings (plus a new Start/Run switch) to get one running again. After that, it takes about 45 seconds before you can start playing it.
Push and hold Start switch until tonewheel assembly is running, then let go and quickly push the Run switch which then engages the the rest of the mechanisms. Of course with the one in this vid, I highly doubt the motor would engage right away.
The tonewheel itself may even just be seized. Wouldn't be surprising!
thats sad seeing the old photos left in there. what a creepy vibe this place gives off.
Those "baby vaults" are actually samples for larger, full sized "outer burial containers" (also known as vaults).
So sad that there were unclaimed ashes, it was very disrespectful of the owner to just leave them there :-( and those photos should go to a local museum
they were proubly never claimed
I know but the owner could have got them scattered somewhere pleasant rather than leaving them in a rotting building
The owners dead..
Those photos were very old. The one of the two women picking oranges was probably from 1905-early 1920s era.
The ashes were probably from homeless people or the person died a john/jane doe. Its very common actually...
Yeah let's just lay down
Where dead bodies have been
Sounds great!
Why not everyone will lay down there anyway
Ikrr
Sad there was some real history there that could be saved and preserved. The wicker coffins were interesting.
Those coffins might be Victorian era.
@@Books_Makeup I believe in most situations, a coffin is buried in a cement vault so the soil isn't actually touching the casket.
Wicker coffins are quite popular in the uk when you want a funeral without all the church stuff and want a more natural burial in woodland which is closer to nature with permission of course first
Those were removal basket from waaaaaay back. Worth some big bucks !!!!
Thank you for shooting great footage and not doing stupid, jump out at you, try to scare you BS. You now have another subscriber! :)

I sooooo want that mid 60s Cadillac Hearse. I love the stacked quad headlights.
Man how does that homeless guy sleep in there at night? I would be so scared.
I'd rather sleep out in the streets.
datchet11 what, it's just a hearse. Not like you're laying down in the trunk of Christine. Now that would be certain death, but that hearse is not likely a car from hell.
datchet11 Electricity, I would live in it if I w- never mind found tha scary room
Ever heard of 'beggars can't be choosers'.
datchet11 he was a ghost
all those old books, pictures, documents and vintage furniture, just left to rot. So sad.
Super Creeeeepy! That place is a fire waiting to happen with the leaky roof and the power on. I do feel bad that a homeless man has to take up residence in a crappy abandoned funeral parlor though.😢
Better than the curb
I’m a funeral transporter / removal tech in this city (Jax), sitting in my vehicle waiting for a call, and found this while looking at a different abandoned downtown property. You were right ab the fire, was wondering why I hadn’t seen this place before. It burned down in 2021, was owned by Peeples FH at the time. Might have to ask Mr Peeples about its history next time I’m at their, much more not-on-fire, facility.
This is so wonderfully eerie, I would've loved to take pictures.

RUN YOU FOOL! I'VE SEEN ENOUGH SUPERNATURAL TO KNOW HOW THIS ENDS!
Nah bruh its Danny phantom
Supernatural is filmed near my house!
+Zoe Kidd seriously? that's awesome!
fucking run and get some iron😂
And some Holy water.
i could never be an urban explorer because things like the photo album at 8:53 would be too tempting to take. my house would be full of cool junk
I second this. My house is already full of cool junk abandoned at car boot sales and the like, but I would have snuck out of this place with albums, trinkets, coffins, the lot... Possibly would have driven off in the hearse and taken the homeless guy with me to live in my spare room 😂 Seriously though, it's such a shame to see this kind of history rot in the damp! Hope the artifacts get saved by local authorities or historians at least!
Another awesome video!! You guys are honestly my some of favorite youtubers to watch!
the state board of funeral service needs to be informed
How come the lights are still up and running? Who are paying those light bills? Pretty cool video! Thanks for sharing
I think it's something that property owners do to ward off copper thieves.
+gerald bulmerr Is there something wrong with you?
***** No, but your response only goes to make me more certain that there is something wrong with you. Are you sober?
When you call to shut off your electric, what they do is mark the date you call so anything on forward you are not responsible. It usually take time to send someone out to phsically remove the cable off power grid to a business or resident, unless huge amount of usage is reported..
McBandit Hope No it not for that they planned to keep it up but things happen.
OMG! That Hearse at the beginning is sick! Would love to restore it.
I would love to have one of those really old books
I love it when the power is still on
Omg that hearse is soo cool i want it.
+Anthony Dwyer Heh I used to see those
Good luck finding the owner, wait is that Tall Man?
+NyuuMikuru1 why would he need to find the owner? it's been left for a long time lol i would somehow tow it
+blink 182 To get the title for the car, without it you can't take it.
you don't need the title just sell it
Wait...coffins are NOT cheap.
WHY did they leave them there!?
The elevator is broke. They're trapped on the 2nd floor.
Exactly they could be refurbished
that intro scared the fuck out of me
+Aaron Timm xD same!
i thought that guy was dead af
+Aaron Timm Ya me to. lol
This makes me wanna cry at 4:07, that's a freaking Hammond A-100. Restored that would pull in $2k - $3k easily. I can't believe it's just sitting there like that. Looks to be in decent enough shape too considering the circumstances.
Ok, seriously though, the beginning did scare the shit outta me 😂😂😂 lol
I see army's everywhere omfg 😂😂
I'm not the only kpopper watching this thank god XD
+Dana Chambers LOL
You guys are super quiet and respectful of this place. Great job.
Intro jumpscared the crap out of me, thought it was a real corpse.
Absolutely amazing! Thank you for this video. So much history that is just deteriorating. I seriously can't believe people just simply walk out and leave everything as it was. I always feel I want to rescue everything, clean it up and give it a home where it is appreciated. :(
How can the power still be on?? For real. Doesn't the power company cut you off when you don't pay or something?
+Max Only if they can reach the power meter, but... that thing is deep in this building, the power company aren't gonna enter that...
that opening scared the SHIT outta me. bastards:D
Walls and ceiling collapsing, check. Water dripping from the ceiling, check. Homeless guy, check. Power still on, WTF?
Ikr?!
That's way confusing then the FNaF storyline but again,I have a old Skeleton robot that my parents got I believe in 1999 or 2000 and it still functions and my parents never changed the batteries
What a great scene that was when the light came on in the room with the down chandelier and all the period furniture.
OMG, this should be American Horror Stories next season
OMG YEEEEEEESSSSS
Awesome idea 😍 I would definitly watch it
Does that dude realize dead people were kept in that in that fridge
What a beautiful vintage hearse~and the beautiful old furniture! It would literally be a dream come true to be able to restore this place into my own home to live in!
Miranda Bella disease.. infections..miasmas
please respect that those that where there only know that this is there last place to call home. always ask to enter even though no one is there and thank them when you leave. never underestimate that you are alone.
Sad that it burned down last night. I had to come and watch this again because watching it on the news was terrible.
That hearse would be a great restoration project. Looks like a 1966 Cadillac.
0413dec 68 caddy, could be worth a bunch, depending upon the conversion company.
It's a 67
The "baby coffin" at 9:15 was an urn.
What an awesome place to discover! That hearse was phenomenal and the caskets too! 🖤
am I the only one that jumped In the beginning when they opened the body cooler and he was in there
same
Yeah me too. I felt stupid lmao
+Kyle Sherman Did you notice the name thing on the table at 10:37? That's my son's name too.
+Fetalheart1 ya
yeah i jumped too lol
At 10:35, you can see the name of one of the old owners. What I've gathered is, this place was opened in 1914 and shut down in 2013 due to a new location being built. After the main building was built, a few years down the line the attached garage was built, "Construction of the building was completed in 1914. Several years later, an attached garage was added on which featured a turntable, enabling cars to drive into the building and then turn around to head back out to the street". This place went through 4 name changes/owner changes in the 99 years it was running, It is located near Jacksonville, Florida (not going to give an exact location), on February 11th 2019, the building caught fire on the second floor due to unknown causes (cause for so much decay and roof collapse), was most likely to be people living inside of it that started the fire. This place has quite the back story, the people who started this place up were very successful for their time, it's a shame that all of this history is going to waste. Someone needs to get in there and save the antiques before the building meets it's end. Great video you guys, thumbs up!
That vending machine was cool lol
How has nobody gone and hot wired that beautiful hearse and taken it home!!! Man it astounds me the stuff people leave in these places - I'm such a hoarder I'd take so many 'mementos'.
Do you and other urban explorers have an unwritten rule to leave the shit you discover behind for other people to discover. If so that's rad.
no gloves or masks even though there's old bottles of potentially dangerous chemicals and mold on the walls and ceilings.
You are very brave. Congratulations...
Yoooo knock it with the scary bass heavy music man.. My heartrate.. pff
That Cadillac hearse is either a 1967 or 1968 (I think). They are very collectible by the people who are "into" hearses (me). Also the caskets are valuable if they can be refinished/cleaned up. Even some of the furniture and chandeliers could be valuable to people who collect such things.. VERY interesting video! Super fun!
You guys should invest in respirators for dirtier buildings... An explorer with lung cancer isn't a good thing.
Wow!!! i have so many questions. First, thanks for taking this video and for sharing it. Where was this taken? How long do you think the homeless man been living there? Did you scare him by showing up or did he scare you? (OMG) Did he seem to have "created" a nice enough and safe enough space to live in? with a bed? Did you say there was water coming into the place and do you think it will all be torn down? Finally, what is the wooden item against the wall at 6:12 and I would have LOVED to see the painting you see against the wall, with the golden frame, at 6:20. Fascinating. So many interesting artifacts, including the paperwork, photos and furniture. I hate to think that will all disappear under the shovel of a bulldozer....
Save your progress in the Typewriter Room!
LOL
all those photos should be posted somewhere so the families can have them
Either the temp was in the 40s or there was something evil around you to see your breath.
A lot of the time a drop in temperature of being able to see your breath isn't necessarily evil, but probably just a ghost.
Nah, there was just a lot of moisture in the air.
I'm so blown away that the power is still on considering the condition!! That's a fire waiting to happen!! Thanks so much guys!! Your videos are SO addicting!!
10:11 Is that FDR?
Yes. They had no idea.
I would have taken it... it might have been a lost first print. $$$$$$$$$
Timothy Maynard What is FDR
Franklin D. Roosevelt... uh, one of our presidents. "You are Cornholio.."
Indeed it is. This means that collection of framed photos is probably between 75-85 years old.
The trust you have in your friends to get in one of those things in the very beginning... Damn haha my fucking friends would've locked me in
You're definitely not alone in that! Not one bit bro!
this scared the shit out of me holy fuck! 0:00
DUDE my heart jumped in the beginning lmao. Thanks for making these videos btw. I've just started watching a bunch. it's really really interesting :)
Nice '67 Cadillac hearse.
This is the Kyle McLellan Funeral Home in Jacksonville. It was last purchased in the early 90's before relocating operations in 2013, under the name Peeple's Family Funeral Homes.
Damn, this was definitely one of the scarier ones!
The spirits has the power on. OOOOOOOOOO Seriously, WONDERFUL VIDEO and thanks for the look inside!!
You know dead body's have been on that and he was on it
Exactly what i thought
Sean Blakeslee Thanks capital obvious
And your point is?? 😂
Not touching anything inside that building.
It’s a bad omen he’s asking for an early death by laying inside there. ☠️
If I were local I'd contact the owner and make arrangements to move out stuff and sell it at auction, share the profits. THat organ alone is worth a few grand. Old funeral stuff brings good money. The wicker casket is rare. Sad that so much was destroyed by the leaking roof.
That room with chandelier with one bulb on was creepy.
“From even the greatest of horrors irony is seldom absent.” .... this place is incredible guys, great find!
I knew this was going to be a sensitive video for me considering I've had to bury both my parents and it was only about ten months ago that I had the arduous task of planning out my mom's entire funeral arrangements (in a considerably nicer funeral home, thank goodness), but when I saw the refrigerator and embalming rooms it made me pretty nauseated to think of my parents' bodies going through that, especially my mom's because she and I had gotten so close after we lost my dad/her husband and were like sisters. Another thing that almost made me cry was seeing all those old burial records that were abandoned and being left to rot, because I know that each record represented a very emotional place and time for family members mourning the recent loss of a loved one and to have all of those records in danger of disappearing is like desecrating those memories and moments in time. BTW, $3 for burial costs in the 1880s or 1890s? Damn, when it came time for me to bury my mom last year I spent more like $13,000!!!
+ladyi7609 Sorry for your loss..
+ladyi7609 Yah I had two people I know pass away but nobody that close, I'm very sorry
***** and Jackman 9100 Thank you two so much. I appreciated how sensitively these people approached this subject, so it's just that I was seeing the uglier side of burial that I reacted to. I don't know how old either of you are but I kinda feel like I'm ancient for RUclips at 37, but eventually you'll go through what I went through and find that while it's almost indescribably difficult to get through, it can be done and with time, you do recover and live out the rest of your life as per normal.
+ladyi7609 You're welcome.. With time the pain does go away. But the memories will be there for life. I'm 39 by the way so 37 isn't ancient for youtube :)
I'm actually 11 so I'm a lot younger but I'm very mature for my age, but josh is right the memory will stick with you even when you go.
Omg this is so cool, look at the books dating "1895", look at the places, look at the photos. While I watched this I feel like a researcher or a historian, maybe both things. Why this building is fucking abandoned? It must be so rich in a historical perspective, I cry.
damn... that chandelier
me: IM GONNA SWING FROM THE CHANDELIER! FROM THE CHANDELI-I-ER!!!!
LOL
😂 😂 😂
Man, those old photos kill me. How many boxes of pictures that used to mean a lot to someone do you think are just left to rot in places like these?
How do you guys gave the guts to do this? I would be scared as heck. I really love your bravery guys! #TheProperPeople
Imagine if the owners of these abandoned places with the power still on set up hidden cameras all throughout the building just to watch people come walk through it.
That homeless man has balls lmao
This is terrifyingly beautiful.
honestly I find places with power creeper than without
homeless dude proubly connect the power cables on the block to some other dudes power
Same
This was almost as Ozzsome as the Cathedral.... That one is still the best....So far... The hearse is defiantly a collectors item as are some of the caskets.... Good job guys....
I'd gladly take that hearse off their hands. :D
It's probably a diesel car.
No 60's Cadillac ever had any diesel option. It's a big block Cadillac V8 gas engine, either a 429 or 472.
William Gson Thank you for the information, I did not know that!
@@williamgson4055 -Probably the 472.
William Gson 502?
I love this!! dead, creeps me out.... but there's just something about funeral homes... great job!!!!!
That's not funny thought there was a actual dead body in there
Oh learn to take a damn joke.
+Igotbored707 hahaha
+CodeNameHowler1987 how
But there were bodies inside :)
yeah me too
Its sad to see a place that was once so beautiful just left to rot. The amount of history and belongings left behind is disturbing as well.
+Donna Gilhousen Id be the type of person to just take old photos because of that, like old family photos are sitting there rotting away
Austie I'm right there with you.
the church-looking room looks exactly like the church from silent hill 3! even the lights and stuff!
+holly soord - It's called a Chapel. Families RENT them for funeral services.. Most mortuaries usually have at least 2 or more to choose from...
You guys are amazing. So addicted to these videos right now xD
wow, cool. I'd drive that old Caddy hearse, that would be a cool car
The record book and the Freemason volume fascinating. The chapel was pretty cool too. And the homeless guy and the ashes. Always amazing what’s left behind and how fast it goes when the water gets in.
omg when he was about to open that at the very beginning I felt like my heart was going to burst. I wish I had friends who liked doing things like this!
+Adalis Pabon i died
O wish I has friends that liked this kind of stuff too. Hmu on Snapchat: NessaBiersack15 or kik: Nessa_Biersack or Instagram: 5sos_directioner_belieber because I need friends.
I'm still so in awe of the power STILL being on in a waterlogged building. How freakin creepy was that scene of the fallen, crystal chandelier in that moldy room? The air in there had to be so bad, but they said it didn't smell. Those fancy couches, rotting for so long from all the moisture that they looked like skeletons...it just doesn't get better than this. I would be very tempted to turn all of the breakers OFF. I'd be terrified of fire or a homeless person or "explorer" getting electrocuted in there!!☠💀☠
