Why is fresh, local corn the best corn?

Some of the best local produce is available in the summer months. We're starting to stock our shelves with fresh-picked corn, strawberries and stone fruits, all locally grown. Some of them are picked and delivered the same day from growers in Brentwood and Fresno!
