    Man, as a Junior this is extremely stressful and I'm beginning to wonder if I'm even cut out for this stuff.
    I had a terrible Freshman year academically which was 100% self-inflicted, and then a better, but still bad Sophomore year as I was going through a lot of hardship outside of school. I've totally flipped the script so far this year hitting all As for the first time since middle school, but it really hurts that no matter how well I do from here forth, it may not make a difference because my GPA can only recover so much in three semesters.

      If your GPA is not the best, but you still qualify for the scholarship, you can address that in your essays and spin that to your advantage. The navy loves to hear about how someone perseveres and overcomes challenges! Especially if you show a good ACT/SAT and extracurriculars. You got this!

    Do you think an act score of 27 with a gpa of 3.8 would be okay for a type 7?

    • @sarahkaitlyn1221
      @sarahkaitlyn1221  3 года назад +6

      Luis Lifts 3.8 is great. I would aim to get that ACT in the 30s for atleast one category. Also keep in mind since the processing of your application is lengthy, you can always submit your package with your current score so the process can start and then send in updated better test scores a few weeks later (that’s what I did)!

    My SAT got canceled 4 times because of COVID. I am taking it next friday. However, I do not know what to do to continue my application process if it needs my SAT results. I do not know if i will get my results back before the Deadline for one of my top schools application. How should i go on my doing this?

    • @sarahkaitlyn1221
      @sarahkaitlyn1221  3 года назад +1

      Hi Katie! Wow. COVID is a real wrench in this process. I would recommend going ahead and applying for the school with or without the SAT. Schools usually have an application question/contact person that you can email and explain the situation and they may have more specific information or advise for you. If every other aspect of your application is solid, I would assume they would be understanding of Covid limitations and waive the requirement (especially because I’m sure you’re not the only one facing this issue). Worst case: if you can’t get into your top school because of the SAT score not coming back in time, you can accept your ROTC scholarship for a different school and then transfer. It adds an extra step, but trust me, I know a lot of students who have done this. If you’re having trouble submitting the ROTC scholarship application without the SAT, I think you have until December 31st to get your scholarship application in, so your SAT scores should be available in time. I would go ahead and get your whole application together so all you need to do is plug in those scores and submit. If you still don’t have your scores by December 1st I would reach out to your areas scholarship coordinator (that’s what the navy has not sure of other branches) and communicate this issue with them. If you don’t already have a relationship with the scholarship coordinator (or equivalent) I highly recommend it! They are an awesome resource! Please let me know if you have more questions!

      Hello! I would get that done as soon as possible! Talk to your coordinator to see if there is a possible waiver due to Covid. But worst case scenario, you can always pay for the first year, but do the “college program” option and then pick up a three year scholarship if needed.

    • @cpine9062
      @cpine9062 2 года назад +1

      I'm in the same boat. I am by no means an expert on ROTC and what they're looking for, but my brother did it and I can go off his experience. So from what I've gathered they really like to see a varsity sport in high school and that's ideal, but 10+ years of a sport outside school looks good and shows a level of dedication. The only problem is they know a varsity sport is hard and shows dedication/leadership, but they don't have that assurance with an outside sport. Your best bet is to make sure you're meeting the physical requirements and are an active member of a group(s). Good luck, you got this!

    • @sarahkaitlyn1221
      @sarahkaitlyn1221  4 года назад +1

      Parker Hughes correction: the SPRING of your senior year of high school you can apply. And you can totally have a normal college experience! You do have early morning PT and you will wear your uniform one to two times a week, but the program is designed to still allow you to be a college student. Most of my friends aren’t in ROTC. And many of my ROTC friends enjoy going out on the weekends, being apart of non-rotc sports, and doing extra clubs. It’s doable! But remember (if you are an ROTC student) ROTC pays the bills, so if you have conflicts they need to come first. 😊👍
