    My sincere congrats for the detailed explanation on the motor selection; it's reassuring to find that there still are some decent material not solely based on unbiased simplifications! I have a question tough, would you mind helping me out if possible?
    If the conevyor belt is designed to be pre-tensioned and mounted on top of rollers, in order for an object to move, there must be no slipping between the roller and the belt, right? Hence, the friction is the force pushing the objects forward on the belt and is not a resisting force, meaning there is no pulling force, likewise you mentioned at 11:02. In that case, the only torque is due to the inertia, correct? Does that mean that, when the object has achieved its final velocity, all power given by the motor is spent by friction on bearing, gears and others? Thanks in advance for the video, have a nice day!

    • @mastermechanicaldesign
      @mastermechanicaldesign  8 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks Joao Garcia, Lets discus!
      Point 1: There must be no slipping between the roller and belt, right? - Yes, it would be better if it is not slippery, but practically zero slip is not possible as you know.
      Point 2: Friction pushing the object forward on the belt and is not a resisting force- Yes absolutely right.
      Your last point, all power given by the motor is spend by friction on bearing, gears and other after reaching final velocity- This is complicate, yes this is 100% true that motor required torque will decrease after reaching final velocity means at zero acceleration. but as we are moving a belt, so there will be always a belt rolling friction, (thick belt means more rolling fiction), also there is not only roller MOI, but there is also transferring object and belt itself MOI which always being influce by gravity, as you said, motor is spending by friction on bearing, gears and others, so this term other is going to always much larger as compare to bearing friction.

    • @joaogarcia9855
      @joaogarcia9855 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@mastermechanicaldesign Thanks for the response, it makes sense: wile it's true there must be no slip and hence the friction is not a dissipative force at first, it's hard to guarantee no slip, which is hence the dissapative force when the final velocity is achieved.
      Therefore, while it's not correct stating there is not dissipative friction, it's also not correct stating the pulling dissipative force is F_pull = (load_weight) * friction_coef. , right? Unless we consider "friction_coef." beign much smaller than the actual kinematic friction coefficient. For rxample, rather than adopting 0.2, we take 0,05. Do you thing that's a reasonable approach?
      The losses in bearings, gears and other I'll consider by using their efficiencies as 99% or 98%, for example.
      Once more, thanks for the responses, for the video and for the commitment on the subject!

    • @mastermechanicaldesign
      @mastermechanicaldesign  8 месяцев назад

      Let's think in this way,
      1. To move the belt, a strong frictional grip between rollers and belt is required, stronger the frictional griper of roller will give better will be result in terms of slip resistance,
      (So, sometimes we do knurl over rollers surface for better grip)
      in other word, frictional force between roller and belt should be more than frictional force of belt with conveyor's other parts (belt bottom support) with the load over belt.
      means,
      Friction force between roller and belt (depends on amount of belt tension, roller contact arc with belt and static co-efficient for friction between rollers and belt) should be grater then frictional force of belt (loaded with material) and belt support plate,
      2. At starting frictional force of belt (loaded with material) and belt support plate will be high, and once belt start moving static co-efficient of frication will decrease to kinematic co-efficient friction.
      3. Now, motor capacity should be cable to accelerate the belt from its static friction because we started the motor at zero velocity.
      4. Friction between roller and belt is different than friction between belt support and belt, our aim should be increasing the friction between roller and belt for no slip. whereas our aim should be drecrece the friction between belt and belt suport, for easy pulling the belt,
      5. Now, bearing friction is something that we should not consider in any calculation, you can consider as zero friction (in general)
      6. So, for motor selection, these are following load you should consider.
      A. Frictional pull force between belt with load and belt support,
      B. Belt rolling friction (or you can say belt rolling resistance or belt drag over the rollers) -Which is actually difficult to calculate.
      C. MOI of all the rollers, gear box, motor and the load over the belt.

    • @mastermechanicaldesign
      @mastermechanicaldesign  Год назад

      There is no such standard, but yes roller diameter should be sufficient to roll the belt properly. Means if we take a thick belt then we should consider a large diameter.

      Third yes strength but it depends on length and tension on the roller (no significant concern)

    Sir ek question hai for example if customer need 100 part in one minute at the end of conveyor then what should be belt speed...means how we will calculate belt speed???

    • @mastermechanicaldesign
      @mastermechanicaldesign  Год назад +1

      Hi Praveen very interesting question ❓
      Here belt speed will also depend on part length. And gap between each parts
      Let say part length is 100 mm at a gap of 50 mm. Mean conveyor belt should travel 150 mm for one part delivery.
      And as given 100 part per minute.
      Mean 100x150 mm per minute
      15000 mm per minute, 15 meter per minute.
      Please let me know if I'm making mistake in calculation 😅

    Whete will u keep the Loan ?
    In Air ??

    • @mastermechanicaldesign
      @mastermechanicaldesign  8 месяцев назад +1

      No. Load will remain over the belt. Conveyor without belt support - Yes for short distance and light weight material transfer like plastic parts we don't give support below the belt. But this is not the main purpose of this video with this example I just want to say. If you don't support the belt then it doesn't mean that required torque will become zero. There will be a MOI of rollers and other items.
      "Watch the entire video otherwise you will be confused, I'm not confused"

    Good information and much appreciated your efforts but kindly recheck the considerations for calculations as they seem little offset from actuals, as there is no much difference for the motor KW but when it comes to judge what can be done with other parameters to decide some intermittent operations that you get across while introducing other process based on selecting rpm’s and force flow process, might mislead to wrong assumptions though. All the way nicely explained

      Hi Bharathrm, Thank you so much. yes, there is little calculations typing errors with example. But concept and formulas are right. Just bear with me. mistyping will eliminate completely with time. trying to build a cross check community.
