      @alexx7910
      Thank you for taking the time to make this video! I have a question, the total moment of inertia is 22.5kgm2 and the motor allowable MOI is 1000 times less. I don't quite get the part with the maximum allowable MOI given by the datasheet, explanation needed please do reply.

  • @Mech.Masters
    @Mech.Masters Месяц назад

    I appreciate the clarity of technical knowledge you have while creating the video. Love your content.
    While calculating torque required to overcome bearing friction in second example, why did you use Torque - Frictional force (F) x Radius of bearing (R). C.G of net force is at the center, so the R is 0, no frictional force at all. What do you say about it ?

    • @mastermechanicaldesign
      @mastermechanicaldesign  Месяц назад +1

      Thank you so much!! Regarding T = F X R, R is radius of the bearing. where actually bearing's rollers are making friction. so frictional force F (which is resisting the rotation) is at radius R, from pivot point (center of turn table)

    Hey first year mechanical undergrad here, was happy seeing the mechanics concepts which i studied are applied here and i was to get everything. Also i would like to know why moi of the load(box) is considered?

    • @mastermechanicaldesign
      @mastermechanicaldesign  Месяц назад

      Glad to know it helps. Yes we will have to consider the box moi as well. Because these boxes will be at rest initially. So we need to accelerate them too, same as we accelerate rollers of conveyor.

    • @mastermechanicaldesign
      @mastermechanicaldesign  Месяц назад

      From bearings datasheet
      For ball bearings - approx 0.02
      For roller bearings - approx 0.05
      Between dry finish steel plates - 0.1 to 0.5

    If I consider the reduction ratio, would it be correct to calculate the torque as the moment of inertia divided by the square of the reduction ratio?

  • @ridvanrizvanoglu5800
    @ridvanrizvanoglu5800 Месяц назад

    I didn't get the point at 26:00. How it can be right to assume that load like its rotating and to take it as equivalent moment of inertia, if it is moving directly and has no moment of inertia in fact. Can someone explain physics behind that, please?

    • @kamalakannan.1971
      @kamalakannan.1971 Месяц назад

      Instead, you would typically use the energy equivalent of the rotational and linear inertias and reduce them on the motor speed to arrive at the torque. Let me know, if you need an example

    • @ridvanrizvanoglu5800
      @ridvanrizvanoglu5800 Месяц назад

      @kamalakannan.1971 not only example, actually I didn't understood your text, sorry. But thanks for try.

      See, the belt is in contact with the surface of the pulley, so for any rotation of pulley, The load on the belt moves forward by exactly the same distance that the the pulley circumference moves, This means the load linear motion depends directly on the radius of the pulley and the angle of its rotation- if roller rotate x radian, load will move- X radian. r (if roller rotates full rotation - 2 pi. r)
      And the same condition will occur, when we put the load on the circumference of the pulley, right ?
      This is what i did here, i put the total load (100 kg as a point load) over pulley circumference, and we know the moi of a point load at distance r, here r is roller radius.
      But this is just an approximation calculation.

    • @ridvanrizvanoglu5800
      @ridvanrizvanoglu5800 29 дней назад

      @@mastermechanicaldesignThank you Sir, now I understood the logic behind this. Beside that I want to say that I think in the real case for radius(center of mass) we must take distance from the axe of the roller to almost the center of the load(orange rectangulars). What do you think about it? Am I right?

    • @mastermechanicaldesign
      @mastermechanicaldesign  Месяц назад

      This is just for an example. For LM rail and block- coefficient of friction can be considered as 0.02 to 0.05

      Yes, maybe because air will not feed with the same speed, this is why i have mentioned - it depends on air flow rate
