      @@musicalperformances5790 I see that you commented on JT's last community post before he deleted it. Did you try to calculate the height of the mountain using the method that he suggested with the water tanks? It comes out to over 10000' ( which is obviously why he deleted the post). Just like if you use the other method he suggested with the turbines but use the hub height of the correct turbine. So my question to you is - if every time that JT makes a video and it shows that the Earth is a sphere, does that mean it's a sphere or do you think he's doctoring his images to match the sphere?

    By Your angle measurement I calculate San Jacinto elevation 10,834 ft. Marvelous angle measurement!!!
    Your zenith angle 83-07-23, plus 0-00-54 for refraction, corrected geometric angle:
    83-08-17 (87.1381)
    The distance is more precisely 14.973 miles
    cos(87.1381)(79057)=9445 ft
    Plus curvature +147 ft
    Plus observer elev 1242
    Elevation 10,834 ft.
    Fantastic confirmation of curvature.
    I also used a geodetic calculator available online the National Geodetic Survey and was impressed with the angle. By inverse calculation against the WGS84 ellipsoid the angle was only 1-2 arcseconds off.
    Finally a proper instrument and verified curvature.

      I live in Kansas, also.. the state may be flatter than a pancake, but it slopes up from 900' above sea level at Kansas City to around 3700' above sea level at Goodland, near the Colorado border. Kansas is one massive, tilted, flat plane. It's flat, but it's not level. I wish we were closer to massive bodies of water, so testing the flatness of long distances over water would be easier to do. I hope to shoot from shore to shore across Waconda Lake (6.1 miles) or Tuttle Creek Reservoir (14.25 miles) someday.

    JT if you had only accounted for refraction, and use the more accurate straight line distance, and cosine(corrected zenith angle), the only difference in elevation by your measurement IS 8 inches per mi^2.
    Very nice instrument. And correct averaging of D/R readings. Once again curvature demonstrated.

    • @fromjesse
      @fromjesse 4 года назад +10

      Did he average for face-right and face-left readings? He measured both and found a difference of 0.018 degrees. But then it looks like he just used his "Reverse" reading uncorrected for doing the calculations. I re-worked his calculations exactly, and after applying 8 inches per mile squared and a refraction of 1 degree per 932 miles, he was within 1 foot. I'm impressed, most flat earther's don't take the time to level a theodolite that carefully. But yeah he totally confirmed the globe. At least to within one foot, which aint half bad at nearly 15 miles!

    14:39 - Google is showing you a typo on a tourism site. The "blades" alone are 150 ft long. The height of the turbine hub is much higher (otherwise the blade would hit the ground). Also the base of the mountain is more like 900 ft, and the Mt San Jacinto peak is a little higher up the mountain from where you took it.
    So there are a few maths mistakes to correct there.

    • @d4rktempl4r20
      @d4rktempl4r20 4 года назад +3

      It's pretty normal for this guy to get landmarks wrong so nothing new there. I do like the hidden in plain sight incorrect height of the turbines though which his following haven't picked up on.

    • @jtolanmedia1
      @jtolanmedia1  4 года назад

      the blades on the windmill I measured are not 150' long they would hit the ground and that is not the case as you can see in the photos. I measured to the generator hub at 150' +/- 1 ft. I trust my laser range finder. if you want to convince yourself go to google maps and measure the horizontal distance between the windmills, I get about 319 feet, then look at the blades they don't come that close to each other, it would be a bad design for a wind mill farm. Speaking about the horizontal dimension, I did calculate angles based on the horizontal dimension (example spacing between the windmills adjusted for the look angle (about 40 deg, do sin(40) * 319 = 205) and from the image this distance is slightly longer then spacing between the yellow lines, however, it is not good practice to mix horizontal and vertical measurements, because refraction occurs primarily in the vertical dimension.

      @@jtolanmedia1 I'm just saying that your source of information or your measurements might be inaccurate. JT a question. Why did you tilt the instrument toward the mountain?
    At 20:17 you show the instrument leaned toward the mountain due to your interpretation of gravity deflection by the mountain.
    However, your instrument is oriented (leveled) perpendicular to gravity. ie: perpendicular to plumb. Nadir is drawn toward the mountain, zenith is away from the mass of the mountains. If you held a plumb bob, the mass would be drawn toward the mountain from your hand, or the point that the plumb hangs from. Which would return a zenith that points away from the mountain SLIGHTLY. VERY SLIGHTLY. On the order of arcseconds. Which reduces the vertical angle toward the mountain.

      @Gary Thistle Gary, I will not insult you but rather encourage you to enter into the world of 'critical thinking'. There are all kinds of 'holes' with any current flat earth model, I will agree 100% that there are many things that are not accounted for. However, and this is huge, I will make the claim that I have zero proof that the earth is flat while at the same time make the statement that there is also zero proof of curvature as well as zero proof of moment. We live in a realm, one in which some people can be tricked into believing one thing and others are tricked into believing another and so there is conflict instead of cooperation. The two sides should and easily could come together with a common goal of coming up with the truth. The evidence piling up that we do not live on a spinning ball is overwhelming and my hunch you do not have the ability to put your fragile ego down for half a second and challenge some of the BS spewed by your space boy fan clubs, they get butt hurt faster than anyone when you challenge the impossibility of even going to the moon let alone claiming to have done it 50 years ago and just never bothered to go back.

    Thank you! I'm so glad you got a theodolite! It looks like you're using just one of the vertical angle readings, which has an error of 12 feet (0.009 degrees.)
    Doing the calculations a little more carefully, here's the average between right-face and left-face (forward and reverse) readings:
    6.86797 degrees.
    For anyone interested, the mountain peak seems to be 10813 feet high at 33.814726,-116.679427, and the observation location is 1243 feet at 33.971670,-116.502475 according to google earth.
    Double checking google earth, the map distance (presumably straight line) 14.85 miles.
    Thus, using trig, and not accounting for refraction, and using your theodolite reading, the mountain measures to be 10687 feet high: (tan(6.86797 degrees) * 14.85 * 5280)+1243=10687
    That's 10813-10687=126 missing feet! JTolan is measuring 126 missing feet of height on the mountain!
    And guess how many missing feet there should be over 14.85 miles on the globe? (8*(14.85^2))/12=147 feet.
    That's a difference of 147-126=21 feet!
    If the earth is flat, JTolan's measurement was 126 feet in error. If the earth is a globe, then JTolan's measurement was only 21 feet in error.
    But wait, we haven't accounted for refraction yet! The globe model says there should be 21 more missing feet than JTolan measured.
    Standard refraction is 1 degree per 932 miles: tan(14.85/932 degrees)*14.85*5280=22!
    Folks, standard refraction for 14.85 miles is 22 feet.
    In other words, JTolan's reading was within 1 foot of the globe model. *One foot! One lousy foot!*
    Even without refraction he was still within 21 feet of the globe model shape.
    But if the earth is flat, his error was over a hundred feet!
    Earth is definitely curved. You measured it perfectly my friend!
    Please do more measurements with that theodolite. Do mountains from different distances. Plot it on a chart. Go back to the aqueduct. I think you'll find that 8 inches per mile squared is the rule.

    • @fromjesse
      @fromjesse 4 года назад +1

      @@hulkgreen6786 No my friend, right in the video he shows @18:15 in green text on the right top that his forward and reverse measurements were different by 0.018 degrees.
      What you don't know is that a theodolite has a small error and you compensate for it by taking a measurement, then turning the swivel head around and flipping the eyepiece over and then taking the same measurement again, then you average the two readings, and that gives you a true reading.
      In his case, the error was +0.009 degrees one way and -0.009 degrees the other way.
      0.009 degrees at 14.87 miles is a vertical error of 12 feet.
      I realize you never finished high school math, and it's OK, a lot of people don't - in fact I didn't - but I did learn about tangent and multiplication and 0.009 degrees is definitely 12 feet 4 inches at 14.87 miles. Just put into google and search "tangent(0.009 degrees) * 14.87 miles in feet"
      If you want to learn more how to use a theodolite, search youtube and watch videos.

      Here are the azimuths of the rise and set of the Sun for three European city on June 21st 2020: (from timeanddate.com)
      Madrid: 58° 302° Change in azimuth = 244°
      Vienna: 52° 308° Change in azimuth = 256°
      Berlin: 48° 312° Change in azimuth = 264°
      The wall that you get the Sun shining on in the morning and evening is facing roughly North. The azimuths of the rising Sun is North of East and the azimuth of the setting Sun is North of West.
      That is why your North wall is illuminated in the morning and evening.
      You do know, I hope, that all the predictions of timeanddate.com are based on the globe/heliocentric system. You can verify their predictions yourself. You can even make these calculations yourself without timeanddate.com if you know how. I can do it. Sailors have been doing it for hundreds of years.

    @JTolan 5:59. When you create your vertical scale why do you assume the height of Chino Hills can be measured from the shoreline? That presumes a flat Earth. After all, Chino Hills is some 40 miles inland from that beach you're measuring off of. IF the Earth is curved (which it may be) the base of the hills could be much lower than the beach, being hidden by the curve. You haven't yet proven a Flat Earth at this stage in your observation. So you should really consider that possibility.
    Since the apartment tower a little to the left can easily be seen over its entire height and its height is known (200 ft) that would be a more objective choice for making a reliable vertical scale. When doing scientific observations we should be making an effort to remain as objective as possible. The choice of Chino Hills for your scale is controversial. The choice of the apartment tower would not be, and thus your observation and measurement would have more validity.
    For reference, the apartment tower is located on Via Dolce, just south of W Washington Blvd in Marina Del Rey and can be easily found on Google Earth.

    Once again, you're using infrared as if it's something new, but this imaging technology has been used for many decades in remote sensing and aerial photogrammetry to make maps. I've asked you before, but you never respond to my question to find out if you have compared your results to the published topographic maps to notice that you're not sharing anything new or unique, ie, you're photography is confirming all the old surveying measurements made to create all the maps that depict all those land features ...
    For yours and the convenience of the others following along here, you can easily download these published maps from this link -

      @@jtolanmedia1 , keep watching what, you? To understand reality? No, if you have examined the maps that I gave you the link to download them from, then you have the results produced from the real measurements made by real surveyors observing reality, and your nice photography confirms that reality. You know this, but your fans do not because you're not telling them that truth.

    Hi, iam a flat-earther but you can have many Problems when you measure the hight like that. How high is the focal lenght ? ... objekts in the distance getting biggert than the objects in the front and is the measurement of google correct ?
    The best think would be you measure a distance to the windmill by yourself and look over the Top and just measure the angel where you can see the mounten peak and do the maths for the angle.

      Medi-terranian means middle of earth. Either of the known earth when the naming was done or falsified naming or still denoting middle of earth. Either way it cannot be about a ball surface (unless fakery in any way), because there is no middle on a ball surface.
