1977 elizabethan ballroom,i was 17 and worked at bellle vue as one of the venues roadies,im in the crowd somwhere, also worked for the buzzcocks penx boomtown another good group alberto los paranoi, have a listen, thanks for posting good to go back.
I was also at this gig. I recall it was a free show put on by Tony Wilson for So It Goes. Which might be why (I think) Joe Strummer shouts "you haven't paid for it" at the end. There was a strange coda years later when I was watching a TV show showing stars before they were famous. The programme showed a clip of this concert and identified a ginger haired guy at the front as being a young Mick Hucknall. It wasn't because I knew it was my mate "Hetter" and I was standing next to him!
THE FENDER TELECASTER, THE GIBSON LES PAUL JR DC, THE RICKENBACKER BASS , ITS AMAZING HOW THESE 3 MUSIC INSTRUMENTS WITH JOE STRUMMERS PUNK ROCK VOICE AND ATTITUDE REALLY CHANGED THE WORLD 🗽😇
The first time I ever saw The Clash on television was a short-lived, late night video show hosted by Leon Russell, and I don't even know if he even watched the videos before they were broadcast, but The Clash video was from this concert (although it was a different song), and at the end of the video, the camera comes back on Leon Russell and he's just laughing. I hope it was because he saw what I saw - how wonderful this was.
0:56 My god how satisfying are micks chord changes... like lightning. Lack of chops in punk was always an American idea, the British bands just kept getting better and better and took it to the next level!
Can you imagine seeing that in 1977, it would have blown my fucking mind! Would want to have a time machine and see this shit. Well and Skrewdriver and other :p
Incredible band. Born out of the vision of Bernie Rhodes and Mick Jones and the forsight of Joe to ditch the 101ers and Paul Simonon on bass was a masterstroke, not being a musician intially was a proper gamble and you could argue he's not a great bass player( like Foxton, Matlock and Burnel) especailly on this clip. But Paul Simonon was vital to the Clash.
the medicine that cut through all that poll tax, miner strike, bigotry and nationalism shite of the time. True working class band up until London Calling then they sold big. But what can you do? Right?
Very Funny and true. The Sex Pistols only became good in 2008 Brixton Reunion Concert. There they laid down some fury. Would unfortunately say Steve Jones, Paul Cook, Glen and John Lydon ended up better musicians than this lot
Music will never be this passionate again.
I am so happy so much of The Clash was captured live...
Glad I was a teenager when punk rock came out. Tremendous then, tremendous now.
Mick's guitar rocks!!!!!
This guy's passion was intense
Joe Strummer. Great front man. 🥲

Capital Radio ...
They should've replaced "Capital Radio" with "Piccadilly Radio" since they were in Manchester . . .

Prima di morire Joe, avrebbe potuto dirci cosa voleva dire dal minuto 2:14 fino al minuto 2:20.
And I pay for it
Great song till the dumb interlude. Just ram it through bros. You are a great band
Don't you feel sorry for the kids of today? they have nothing like this I really don't mean this in a snobbish way I really don't

Pub Folk group who jumped on the bandwagon, good song though.
