I’m sure you’ve seen the clip with PiL, where he was cranking out great-sounding noise with that super-boss Travis Bean “wedge” guitar, and hitting notes on a synth with the headstock, lol. That was GREAT.
I remember watching a punk documentary in 1991 which featured this clip. At the time it felt like old music but I loved the energy and it got me into the whole punk scene. 33 years later it seems odd that it was only 14 years old. 14 years seem like nothing now.
@@simonmaskell365I notice, lol. Some studios won’t allow bands to crank their amps fully, or maybe in sweating over things trying to be as precise as possible, some of the rawness was lost. I’m just FULL of theories. 🤪🤣
Brilliant.....great energy....i saw them around this time at sheff top rank...i got on stage during sham 69's support slot and nipped backstage to meet the Clash......great geezers ...great days!
i first saw this footage in 86,it shows the energy and passion of punk at its height, this is probably the best footage of live punk i've ever seen plus eaters no brains at the roxy
@@yabadabadou3196 arguably better, also proves that the Brits as much as they pat themselves on the back. In fact, were not the first to come up with this sound.
Mick hucknall in the audience there when joe goes down at the edge of the stage. I remember watching this on TV with my dad and when joe turns to the camera and says hear we are on tv, what does it mean me etc and when he said fuck all my dad said and you listen to this rubbish I am not giving you any pocket money to but any records with this filth on it. I said, there not the normal words dad, answer, bollocks!! The irony of it all.
@pittrek81 its fuck all, i just finished reading joe strummer and the legend of the clash, Kris Needs (author) was reporting for Zig Zag magazine about this show
Always upsets me that the introduction missing. Shall we just tune up so it sounds like the record? Who wants it to sound like the record? Me Neither! Love it
this is real punk!
Rest in peace, Keith Levene. Thank you for The Clash ❤️

One of the very best clips on RUclips.

I love this version! Much more raw and aggressive than the album.
The Reciords are all slow. Mucher better sounding Live
You’re right. They were sounding super-great here.

Nasty fall! Ouch 🤕
jesus christ if only bands today had this energy
Traveled from Liverpool to see this
At their finest
Holy shit
That vocal improv in the middle is fantastic!
British punk rock 🎸
Gold! And the knock out at the end...
This is FANTASTIC
Really great. Maybe the best video i have ever seen. And all those gobbings raining down on them lol.
Great track great band simple 😂
This is possibly the most punk video ever
Sonic reducer at cbgb is iconic too

This is one of my favorites, but gluttony by Alice bag band live is quite good too
Como se toca uma bateria......TOPPERRRRRRR
how boring would the world be if joe strummer was sane??????????

This will always remind me of the time I showed this clip to some American mates of mine and had to explain what “Fuck all” meant! 🤣
Hitsville uk is a bop
Sweet when the fan pats Joe on the back.
TYSVD(AMN)M 4 this HQ kick-ass classic.
Who COULDN’T pogo to this?
Here we are on TV
What does it mean to me?
What does it it mean to you?
FUCK-ALL!
RIP Kevin Levin
One dislike? Never listen to punk again
That must have hurt. 1:25
He just falls on the stage, that was probably really sore..... what an attitude though... R.I.P Joe.

Keith Levene, credited with one song but still the most talented member the band ever had
If he was so talented how come he's dead. Smoke some more crack
clearly don't know your shit. Why don't you do some homework little boy and search Public Image music video...
Is topper headon a joke to you or what
Let's-face-it: the Clash made their biggest-ever mistake when they 86d Mick Jones in 1983... a truly BAD decision! (Awful pun intended!)
Always thought it was "FUCK ALL!"
Joe meant it....
@CircleOne513 Is it FUCK OFF or FUCK ALL ?
Hahaha Joe fell over at the end. I don't know if that was an accident or not?
+TwoLongboarders It sure looked like an accident, but in usual Joe style, he made it look like it was intentional. A consummate showman.
Who were the losers that thumbed down this ...
to me the clash always sounded like they were holding back a bit dunno why. great lyrics and tunes but something missing
i hate the backing vocals, sounds like the beatles or something. their backing vocals needed to sound more punk rock like sid vicious
"more punk rock like sid vicious" lmao if to you punk rock is sid vicious then you didnt get a thing of punk rock
8gerrard8 And the most ridiculous comment of the year award goes to...
@@8gerrard8 like sid vicious?! He didn't know how to play the bass at all and he was an idiot
If you think sid vicious could add backing vocals to this that the Beatles couldn't I wish I could get hold of some of the gear you're on
All those gobbings raining down.
someone forgot the lyrics lmao
Too bad they had to “improve” and do that “London Calling” dentist’s-office music later, Blechh.
great singer til he picked up that guitar
