Great no nonsense video, thank you for putting in the time to document the build. Noticed you didn't do the curved slot to adjust the platen angle - me and my blunt hand files found this especially inspirational! Many thanks
It's a good job and will do the same for my workshop though my workshop is not as professional as yours boss.I like your design.👍
The best
When you turned it on did the belt fly off
"Making it" podcast in the background. I listen to those dudes all the time.

с таким инструментом многое можно сконструировать....
About 8 minutes in: is that "Barr Run Forge" podcast your listening to?
Buenas tardes amigo me podrías decir de cuántos caballos es el motor que le estás adaptando a la lijadora
Con todo ese equipo de herramientas, que necesidad de hacer una lijadora de banda.
Nice going Chris.
Sad how many of these RUclips armchair elitists' first responses is petty criticism. Obviously they have nothing left to learn.
Great video and build. I've watched several 2 X 72 build videos recently. Everyone of them, the builder had a lathe, mill, bandsaw, MIG or TIG. That's great, but what about building a belt grinder with less than premium equipment? If you already have a 'to-die-for' shop, why do you have to build a belt grinder from scratch?
Because it's fun to build stuff! Especially when you can customize the tool to meet your needs.
Did you use 3/16" steel for the platen sideplate? It looks like you're using the same plans I have which calls for that piece to be 3/16". However, it seems like everyone one I see uses 3/8" thick steel. whats your thoughts? Thanks for any info.
definitely need to get tig when i get a new machine....
Bonjour, pourriez vous svp me donner les plans svp ! Merci
Hi Chris, what size spring did you use under the the moving bar of your idler wheel? i was thinking of using 4 or 5 inch light compression spring. i cant find any info
Why wreck a wrench for adjustment screw?
Why not just weld on a piece of rod or flat metal?
It was a cheap chineseum wrench i got at an auction. It was completely stripped out and unusable. So i figured id use it as a handle.
Hello. Great grinder. Where can i buy the metalic "wheels"? Tks
Thank you! You can get a really great set from originblademaker.com/ Great prices and well machined parts
beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
12:31 Someone's been to Harbor Freight. :-)
Hello Friend, Where did you get the compression spring. What is the poundage rating your using? Thanks.
john leone I got the spring from Home Depot it was part of a door closer assembly. I’m not sure of the poundage but I would guess it’s around 25lbs
gostei mais quais as medidas ?
She is coming a long great
raymond woodring thanks Ray! I can’t wait to start using it!
what plans are you using? it looks similar yet different from plans i have seen....... also what is that mini lathe you were using?
Sorry it took so long to respond. for some reason your comment didn't show up in my notifications. I made this loosely following the DCknives drawings (dcknives.blogspot.com/p/2-x-72-belt-grinder.html?_sm_au_=iQV27tsZj6vZTk5V) . And the mini lathe is a harbor freight special!
you wouldnt have any spare wheels laying around would ya
Hey, what type of motor do you using? How much power did they have an how much revolutions per minute did they do?
Squape 3/4 HP 240v single phase running at 3250 rpm
What kind of lathe do you have?
Paul Griffin the cheapest one. Lol it’s a harbor freight with all the goodies. Extended bed, quick change tool post, metal drive gears. Works well for non precision parts. If I need something precise I will use the Harrison Clausing at work.
Good work man please how much RBM motor
Thank You! the motor runs at 3750 RPM
I hear Peter Stripol :) what do you fly?
Adam Andrews trust me no one wants me flying anything! I think I was listening to Making it Podcast at the time.
Show like
part 3 ????
Gerhard Halmschlager I admit. It’s taking longer than expected. It should be up over the weekend. Btw it works like a champ!
