School busses are starting to use wigwag stop signs on the swing out stop sign on the bus as a way to grab the attention of a driver , the wigwag stop sign starts swinging below the larger stop sign when it comes out and it has it's own set of small flashing lights that blink as it swings.

As a former School Bus Driver, New York must have had a significant number of totallt deaf drivers. The warning buzzers in California for low air and emergency door open would "wake the dead!"

    Those were the stupidest things.
In 1997 my company acquired 4 FE AMTRAN Genesis that had these. They came from a bus company up in NY (I think). I know NY had these but not sure who else. Anyway. They put one of those buses on my route, well during the year, my air would be completely bled down by the time I came in for my pm run. With the bus off I could hear light air comming from that wig wag so I told our mechanics. So what they did was the pulled the entire wig wag out, air line and everything. We did not require them so they just pulled it out. Never had an issue from that point on.

Well I know that wig wags are usually pretty rare in some railroad crossings, but no longer on active railroads

It looks like a pendulum when it swings from side to side

Edison motors has found a supplier for them. On top of it doing what you showed there, they have it setup so that you can't put the truck into any gear without it being put up.

I remember these in the early 2000s. I asked my bus driver what that was, so he repeatedly pressed the brake until that sign released.
