I love the EK9, but that's to steep. I would pay that amount for an Honda NSX😂.
Maybe an Acura NSX but you're never gonna get a Honda NSX in good condition for $70,000

IMO, most jdm cars are overpriced, now I get that they are iconic, I still feel like the market has been over saturated.
A big problem is there's a limited number of cars 'made like they used to' in so many scenes. A lot of older cars I used to rescue and love when no one wanted them are now getting price inflation way out of my reach ...when those that have money look back for what they missed.
It has as so do many great things.
But don't let money stop you from an Escape.

There is so much you can get for $70k. I would say its only worth it if its just another part of a car collection (and had money to just burn lol)
I expect it's a fair price for someone whose love is there and the money happens to exist for them. A museum seems like a terrible place for that one.
But it's still a civic lol..you could have an m4 or m2 or fd rx7 or used r35 or an s3 or... I dont get it. But it's not my money so more power to them.

@@OllamhDrab I understand nostalgia but this isn't even a great car for the era. It's a civic. I have never understood the hype train around these cars. Even the new one. The barracuda was a decent car for it's generation so I get that. But with this there is just so much "better" stuff from the 90's that can be had for 70k or less. Like even in the early 2000's I was like "when I grow up I want a 300zx, an rx7, a skyline etc." Never a civic. I get that these things are highly subjective but a front wheel drive civic for 70k? Come on.

$70k? Nope. If it was an R34, Supra, or an NSX then yes.
Getting a used Corvette in good condition for $25k then adding $45k in powertrain, drivetrain, suspension, and aero mods would also be worth the $70k.

One of my favorite cars and it’s cool you guys got to drive the spoon one. It would be very hard for me to spend $70k on it though. I think captain should start with a new set of coilovers and refresh the suspension. That will make a world of a difference.
Now you guys should drive an Integra Type R and compare the two.

$70k for a slow nostalgia car? That kind of money buys you all sorts of better, faster and more iconic cars than that Type R. Only a die hard Honda fanboi would ever consider paying that kind of cash for one if they dont already have all the better cars Honda released.

But I am not surprised you not only managed to not read that line but you also assumed I am into Mustangs (weird stretch). I have yet to own anything American nor do I care to. I am a Toyota and Subaru guy and currently own a 2018 STI Type RA.

I dont understand what the point of mentioning the cost is or asking "is it worth it?" When the topic of this video was about Albo's first experience in an EK9 and what it feels like as well as what the highlights of the Spoon Mods are compared to a standard ek9, u lost me there guys...it makes ppl only focus on the price ( like the comments on here) and generates a misconception that you can only experience what u described if u spend 70k on it which is obviously not the case.

The price is just symbolic. Whether you add or subtract $10,000 it doesn't really matter. Collectors don't look at price performance. You could buy a Alf Romeo 4C for that money which is a better sports car in almost every aspect, a midengined Lotus Sports Elise competitor with carbon fibre chassis.

I got my ek9 a year ago and It’s my daily driver!!! I have a e93 bmw as well but I get way more attention in my type are and it’s great reliable car now with 108000 miles! Ac power steering etc exceed suspension just LOVE this car I want a yellow one aswell!!!!

Way too much. More like $7-10k, could probably double that at today's current inflated market. The allure of these are cheap reliable fun.

I don't know the specifics on the EK9 shocks, but my ED7 on OEM shocks felt like it was shaking itself apart on gravel roads. Way too much high speed compression in the dampers. I upgraded to Koni Yellows (same springs and sway bars) and suddenly gravel roads felt totally smooth. More comfort over big bumps, and the handling improved as well. Perhaps the same is true with the Spoon dampers -- they're just a better-tuned damper, and even with the stiffer setup you get more ability to absorb big bumps (or take curbs on track)?
The price is high, but if you have the money HELLYAS its worth every penny, considering it's the first civic type r ever made in history and turned by Spoon.

70k it’s too much yeah it’s a spoon engine but still no worth 70k I’ve seen AWD type R for as low as 18k that’s a fair price I’d pay

I went from an FC3 Si that was tuned to a FK8 and it was still night and day difference. What Capt said about the Type R difference is true. The suspension is special.

This is a product development car and absolutely worth it to a true collector. Beautiful car
I think the reason why its so expensive is because if you want to get a clean base car nowadays it will cost you at least 25-30k

You can get a really good car for 70k if we are talking purely from a performance standpoint but as a collector piece i think for the correct collector it might be worth it.
