I realize, that this video was made more than eight years ago, however, today in the year 2022, December, I want to make my granddaughter, that is going to be 21 years of age in the month of February, a Pandora bracelet made of paper. I want to make it because I am 64 years old and I would love for her to have something handmade by her grandmother. Thank you so very much for putting this particular tutorial here on RUclips land, so that I can get it right. As far as I'm concerned after watching months of videos and or tutorials on Pandora-style beads made from paper you are the best I cannot thank you enough. May you have a merry Christmas and a happy New Year I know I will now thanks from Wisconsin USA
I see that you're a crafter. I looked at a few of your other tutorials. I'm going to learn what junk journaling is all about, thanks to you, however, I am wondering do you still make beads?
I'm pretty sure that the point of this video was to show us that we can make these ourselves...but what I learned is that the beads you sell on etsy are worth EVERY CENT!!! I've tried making them before so I know the labor of love that goes in to them. Your beads are GORGEOUS!!! -Staci
hahahaha Staci, I hear you, I have a passion to do things well! and it all started with me not being able to get beads for my red and gold bracelet. So I'm glad you liked the video. They were a little difficult to master but I go there after many tries and fails!
this is 8 years to late, But. i wanted a bigger bead roller and wasn't ready to paye 30.00 plus for one. so i bought a split pin and my husband set it in a wooden handle for me then we covered the wood with string for better grip. Thank you. x
Thank you and what a fantastic tututorial. I will have to order some cores and give them a try. I love making paper beads but never did anything with them. The cores make a big difference.
Wow Peta! I agree with Staci...your beads are worth every penny you sell them for! This is a labor of love for sure. Those are some beautiful bead though :D.
I usually don't like tutorials due to too much idol talking. I cut the volume off and watch the video if interested. She stuck with the project and spoke only of it's procedure. Interesting and enjoyed it! Thanks
Great video. I like the other beads too but I thought were to large also. Decided to do the same thing you did before I even saw your video. Fabulous. Love listening to your accent too.
I came up with pretty much the same way of doing this. I also found that a #9 knitting needle fits perfectly before the bead cores are attached and that putting the embossing powder in the embossing tray makes it a lot easier to get the powder on the bead. I usually dip and heat 2 to 3 times so the glass effect looks deeper. great video, thanks. ps. I use cheap typing paper for the first straight strip so I get more beads from the colored paper.
craftyladies good for you! it sometimes is a process that works differently for others. I also coat 2-3 times with utee but have since started using diamond glaze as the first coat and then applying 2-3 coats of utee
Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video. Love your technique! You have just inspired me to try it out. Thanks also for explaining everything so clearly!
July 27, 2023-10:00AM-Colorado time…. Lovely bracelets! I’m so impressed! What type , or what is the name of, and where do I order it, -is the type of silver model bracelet, you thread your beautiful beads on, to turn into such a beautiful bracelet? Do you have a tutorial, on how to make that? Thank you so much, for your time!
You've read my mind! I too was wondering how to make them puffier and rounder compared to the other bead which I kind felt I was stuck with. My question is: what size bead cores do you use? They must be incredibly short, no ? Looking forward to hearing from you! :)
Can you please share with me where you get the being drying rack,,,? It looks like it's very helpful as opposed to using styrofoam. Thank you love the video
Hi Miss lady Petal, Do you just use one coat of utee? Is it ever sticky after drying. Your beads are gorgeous, and I am going to try them. I have been making the 1/2" beads and they look nice, but yours look like a Pandora bead. How long is your paper?
Hi LadyPedal. I couldn't quite get from the video exactly the size that you cut the two strips of paper. I know one is just rectangular and the other comes to a point but need the size to cut them. Thanks!!
hi mam i am sinjinee from india i have serched many videos in u tube but ur tutorial video is great very very exellent i have actually learnt from ur video. ur video is very detailed and very very helpful thanks.
I love your tutorial for Paper beads but could you please give me a link to buy the 9 mm x 5 mm x 4 mm metal cores? The one you have listed is not the size you put in your material list. Thank you so much!
you can buy them on ebay. often when i put links up the link ends and then I'm always having to put new links up. i usually put a search in for metal bead cores pandora size or something like that and that's how i found some initially.
What kind of paper cutter is that , length etc. Did you mark it yourself or did it come that way ? Where can I get one like it? Thank you kindly for any help!
Gracias por el tutorial. Eres muy clara en tus explicaciones. ¿Puedes decirme cómo se llama el líquido "impermeabilizante" que les colocas para que brillen y protegerlas del agua???. Cariños desde San Juan, Argentina.
I could not find the list of products used for this video. I especially need the size of the eyelets. If you could help me please. Your beads are beautiful and I would like to try making them. Thank you in advance.
Susann LoPresti I entered the search term 'metal bead cores' in ebay to find the cores. they are usually a standard size that fits a rope style bracelet and also other bracelets. I bought them last year and I also know that the bead cores can be found in some etsy stores. mine are 5mm.
Thank you for responding so timely! What would you call these types of bracelets in the search field for the Internet search? I can't wait to make these and thank you again for sharing your talent.
I also learned how to make these from the frugal crafter. I have one problem... My bead cores keep falling out. Do you think it could be my glue? I haven't been keeping the embossing powder off the edges so maybe that's why they won't stick. Thoughts? I'm hoping to sell these but need to work out these little kinks. :) Thanks!
Hmm if you see how I make them I do the same. The ute the more it covers the better. I used a very tacky glue but also diamond glaze is good for this as it can be used on metal
I bought them from a local stall in my nearest shopping centre when they were really in vogue. Nowadays I would scour online shops, etsy, ebay to see if you can get them cheaper there.
Hi there! Excellent tutorial. Very clear!!! Where can I find the block to place the paper beads to dry. The pink block with all the holes. That is definitely a necessary tool. Thank you so much. Xoxo. Alexa
Hi there. i just bought a block of air dry clay and molded it into a curved shape that rested flat on the table. i then used a toothpick to punch holes in the structure and then set it out to dry. i just painted it pink when it was dry. easy peasy!
My bead cores keep falling out. Could it be my glue? I haven't been careful with keeping the embossing powder off the sides so maybe that's why. Do you have any ideas why that's happening? Thanks!
Nancy B Hi Nancy, although I like the thought paper vs outside usually don't last. my advice would be a pick up some cheap glass beads that look the same style with metal cores. I can get them at my local scrapbook store rather cheaply and then you don't need to worry about the wear and tear
OMG l thought l was going to have a brain Fudge when you started your video giving imperial measurements, so thank you for translating both imperial and metric. Great video and kia Ora from the other side of the ditch.
I like what ur doing but it would help tremendously if you could get a close up of what you are doing and try to Not stray from camera view as that happens a lot thanks for your time.
i think if you search for 'pandora style bracelet' you'll find something on ebay or like it. i actually bought these from a stall in my shopping centre where they were going cheaply.

the powder is UTEE ultra thick ermbossing powder and it's a ranger product. also the stamp pad is a clear embossing stamp pad. or you can coat them in resin or something like that.
Diane Kelly the paper cutter in the tutorial is fiskars but I don't use that anymore as the blades blunt quite fast and this will tear rather than cut the paper. I now use a rotary blade paper cutter and that is much much better. there are plenty around and some brands are not available in all countries. they are a bit more expensive but last longer and work much much better
Hello. Thank you for the tutorial. I made black and white beads from the pages of a magazine. I glossed them with UTEE, using an embossing heat gun. The UTEE turned yellow. Is it normal?
No its not normal. Thats sounds strange. You might want to think about using clear dimensional as a sealer as that sets hard and clear but is not thick to fill in the cracks of the paper ridges like utee will
Just ran accross your video, great tips by the way , i wonder if you can tell me where to get that eraser that takes off glue. And what is the name of that eraser, thank so much ahead of time ☺
Gumm erasers are readily available in art supply stores. Designed for getting masking fluid off water colour paper they are good for sticky substances.
I used a piece of 12 x 12 scrapbook paper so the length is 12" and you need 2 strips for the one bead. width is 5/8" at one end and then bring it down to a point at the other. you start with the thin pointed end and build to the wide end in the middle then join the next strip's wide end together and when you finish winding that up you will have a lovely round pandora style bead to put your grommets into.
The Frugal Crafter cut a straight strip at half an inch that she then cut into two diagonal stripe so they weren't that wide. She made lovely round beads not like the one you showed. Here were beautiful rounded beads. It is important to pay attention to the instructions given.
When I watched the video way back before mine were created i followed her instruction at that time and my followers at that time asked me to make a video. So I developed a method that is actually different. You are welcome to follow the instructions from whatever channel you wish to.

I measured the width of the pandora style bead and that became the width of the strip I cut with a scrabook or paper trimmer. I then cut this exactly diagnolly in half and those two pieces will form the bead. it takes a little while but you'll get there.

I buy the bracelets at cheap shops or shopping centres. I live in Australia so I'd look online if you can't find somewhere local to get the bracelet.
