Hi there Crafty Friends! I'm so sorry, but I forgot to give you the curing time on the UV resin. UV Resin needs to cure at least 1 minute. Please cure your beads for 1 to 2 minutes.

Back in the sixties my mum taught us kids how to do this. Not with fancy Amazon tools and fancy paper but with matchsticks and strips cut from magazines.

Oh my goodness! I've had several people tell me all the different things they have used as paper and rollers. So interesting! No Amazon back then, huh? How did we survive? 🤣 Thanks for watching and taking the time to send me a message 😊💖

My grandma didn't need any "newfangled" gadgets to make her paper beads either back in the 70s. The local home decor shop gave her whatever old wallpaper sample books, partial rolls, discontinued patterns, or misprint stock she could use that they couldn't sell off and she'd roll the beads on toothpicks or darning needles. I still have about a hundred of Grandma's wallpaper beads that still look good roughly 50 years after they were made. 😊

I was taught without tools but you put down this creator yet you used tools which was matchsticks. Also fancy paper is cheaper than magazines.

I've been making them for years now. I call them beads of hope. Before I cut the paper up I write positive words all over the back of the paper ❤ I also use a clear coat of UV gel clear nail polish so they last forever. I sold around 100 bracelets last year for donation to a women's and children's shelter here in my town. Thank you for posting this video! Using recycled paper is fun...like ad slicks junk mail 😊

As crafters we tend to make do because we ARE creative. BUT, I would like to strongly suggest to invest in the proper tools because you are WORTH it! You don’t have to spend a fortune. Just buy a piece at a time. The proper tools make SUCH a difference in your crafting experience. Treat yourself once in a while.

I never thought of decopauge on the beads; I can't wait to try that; I've got some beautiful napkins to use. Great tutorial! I've been making paper & clay beads for quite awhile but I learned some new things from you; thank you! I use stick glue; I find it less messy and it dries fast. Instead of resin; I use a granular substance (I can't remember the name at the moment - that drawer in my brain must be stuck lol) that when you apply heat it makes a beautiful thick clear coat. Thick Embossing powder! Got that drawer open! There's something satisfying about melting the powder to a liquid that hardens to a resin type substance very relaxing! Anyway thank you so much for your video!!

😎Greetings from Yermo, California - about 180 miles from Las Vegas, Nevada. Love your video. I have been making paper beads for over 50 years & use gift wrapping paper because it is so cheap from dollar stores. It comes in so many different prints (my favorite are the metallics) & I can make hundreds of beads from one roll. I use clear nail polish but have never thought to use UV resin. Thank you for that tip; I will have to try it. 👍

I'm almost 70 yo, and my first grade teacher had us recite the Longfellow Hiawatha poem for a school assembly for families, and we made these had rolled beads, wider strips than you used, and wound around pencils. I made a couple of rolling tools with the cotter pin you showed. I had a couple of wooden handles from used foam paint brushes. I pulled out the old foam and plastic parts. I mixed up a small amount of JB Weld epoxy and put in into the hole before and after adding the round end of cotter pin, and smoothed it out with a toothpick. Leave it to dry overnight, and then get rolling! I'm glad to see the uv resin method for finishing the beads! I've tried Mod Podge and it looks okay at first, but gets sticky after wearing the bead necklace.

I see a new hobby in my future 😂. I’ve tried making beads before rolling on a stick but quit because I didn’t like fighting with trying to keep the roll straight. I really like those beads rolling tools and even the cotter pin idea although my hands at my age would prefer the tool. I like the straw idea and how you finished the ends with eyelets. Thanks for sharing. I look forward to your next video 🦋

Hi Jacquelyn! These beads are so fun to make and the rolling tools make it a breeze. I'll leave you a link below so you don't have trouble finding them. Let me know if you need any help, but most of all...have fun with this new hobby 😁 Thanks again for watching 😊💖

My Great Grandmother made some paper beads just like this too, they were so beautiful! I know my mother loved them, so I may try this to make some of my own and create some jewellery to gift to her! Thank you for sharing! ❤

Thank you for a really good tutorial. I would just add that cylinder beads can be made using cheap copy paper, with just enough of the printed paper to cover the last layer. A design printed onto glossy photo paper gives a nice effect too. I’ve just bought some tiny fingernail stickers with flowers, butterflies, etc. I’m going to experiment with these on my next batch of plain white cylinder beads. Happy crafting!

Hi Joan, I plan on making a follow up video and fingernail stickers etc are part of what I'll be using. Good minds think alike! Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to send me a message 💖😊
