Hi there Crafty Friends! I'm so sorry, but I forgot to give you the curing time on the UV resin. UV Resin needs to cure at least 1 minute. Please cure your beads for 1 to 2 minutes.
Back in the sixties my mum taught us kids how to do this. Not with fancy Amazon tools and fancy paper but with matchsticks and strips cut from magazines.
Oh my goodness! I've had several people tell me all the different things they have used as paper and rollers. So interesting! No Amazon back then, huh? How did we survive? 🤣 Thanks for watching and taking the time to send me a message 😊💖
My grandma didn't need any "newfangled" gadgets to make her paper beads either back in the 70s. The local home decor shop gave her whatever old wallpaper sample books, partial rolls, discontinued patterns, or misprint stock she could use that they couldn't sell off and she'd roll the beads on toothpicks or darning needles. I still have about a hundred of Grandma's wallpaper beads that still look good roughly 50 years after they were made. 😊
I haven't tried making them out of wallpaper, but I intend to try! I seen a lot of people saying that very same thing. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to send me a message 😊💖
I'm sure my phone listens in on my conversations. At the thrift store today I talked with the manager about the paper bead necklaces in the case. Now I've had this pop up in my feed. No coincidence!
Hi there! I've had that happen as well. They sure do listen in! Well in any case, I'm glad you showed up and watched my video. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to send me a message 😊💖
Hi Pat OMG that sounds so cute! I have several followers that email me pictures of their creations. I’d love to see some pictures of your little mini items 😍 Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to send me a message 😊💖 📧My email: masoncreationsetc@yahoo.com
Wth?! I make jewelry and I didn't know that this was a thing! I have a million random sheets of scrapbook paper and cant wait to get started with this. I spend so much money on specialty beads. Dang, I feel dumb that I didn't know this. Thank you so much!
Hi there! Thank you and I'm happy you enjoyed this video! This project is perfect for scrap pieces of paper. I'll be making a lot of these for some of my Christmas projects. Also, people have been giving me some great ideas for things to try, so I'll be doing a follow up video with some new bead stuff in the future! Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to send me a message 😊💖
Hi Christine, Oh my gosh...that would be amazing to make a necklace or bracelet with beads created from the copies of those love letters 💖 Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to send me a message 😊💖
I've been making them for years now. I call them beads of hope. Before I cut the paper up I write positive words all over the back of the paper ❤ I also use a clear coat of UV gel clear nail polish so they last forever. I sold around 100 bracelets last year for donation to a women's and children's shelter here in my town. Thank you for posting this video! Using recycled paper is fun...like ad slicks junk mail 😊
Hi there! I LOVE that, "beads of hope" I absolutely love the positive words on the back. What a very cool idea. The UV gel polish is pretty much the same as the UV resin. I've used that too. Works great! Thank you so much. I’m so happy to see that you enjoyed this video. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to send me a message 😊💖
I've been making necklaces, earrings and bracelets as hobby for about a year now and I never thought about doing the beeds myself. This is great and you're a very sweet lady, it's actually calming to watch your videos 🌼
Hi Joana, Thank you so much for your kind words! And I'm happy to hear that the video was calming. That's awesome to hear. This is a fun hobby. I have several followers that email me pictures of their creations. I’d love to see some pictures of your jewelry, especially what you make from the paper beads! 😍 Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to send me a message 😊💖 📧My email: masoncreationsetc@yahoo.com
I have journals that my late dad wrote in, I think I am going to make some beaded bracelets with a few of the pages. What a great way to take him with me everywhere I go. Thank you for this great tutorial.
Hi there! I think that is such a touching idea. I wish I had something like that. I’m so happy to see that you enjoyed this video. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to send me a message 😊💖
Awww thats a great idea i wish I had my dads journals but they cleaned out his place when he passed away and i wasn't aloud to have anything because he was in Ontario and im in Saskatchewan an i couldn't make it home when he passed. So everything was thrown out by my dads stupid GF an my aunts. So all i have to remember him is a letter he wrote me two Years before he passed and his obituary. But i really ur idea xo❤
Hi I am in South Africa. I make key rings out of resin and I am finding it hard to get beautiful beads to finish them off. This is wonderful because I can now print out any pattern I want on paper and then make high end beads with it. especially now because you have shown me that paper beads don't have to look like school projects. Thanks so much for sharing.
Hi there! I'm so glad you enjoyed this video. The resin makes a world of difference, doesn't it. It takes it from a school project to something very classy. I'd love to see some of your work. I have several followers that email me pictures of their creations. I'd love to see yours! Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to send me a message all the way from South Africa 💖😊 📧My email: masoncreationsetc@yahoo.com
High from Arizona. I remember making beads like this in grade school. I haven't done it since then! this was a real trip down memory lane. We used pages out of "Arizona Highways" Magazines which is a monthly magazine that has some of the most beautiful photographs of Arizona. I remember as a child being a bit upset that we had to cut up such pretty pages LOL.
Hi Melissa I think that's so cute that you didn't want to cut up the pretty pictures. I'm hearing from a lot of people that they made these beads as a child. This hobby has been around for a long time. I'm happy to see that this brought back memories for you. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to send me a message 😊💖
I love this. I support women facing Gender Based Violence. I teach them different skills for making home and fashion crafts using locally available resources. We used to make paper beads but stopped due to lack of some materials. This tutorial shows us some of what we can do to start making them again! You have just changed the world of women here in MALAWI, Africa!
Thank you so much. I’m so happy to see that you enjoyed this video and it's inspired you to start making them again. I'm happy to have helped change the world of women there in Malawi, Africa Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to send me a message 😊💖
First I want to say that your level of commitment to not only respond to everyone in comment section, but to go beyond that with individual troubleshooting is not only impressive but much appreciated. Second I wanted to thank you for this video because I have been waiting for cooler weather in order to start some cement projects and have been cursing the sun. Now thanks to you, I can get the type of resin that cures in the sun and use that to my advantage and have something to do in summer! I live near Athens, GA
Hi there! Thank you so much for your very kind words. It feels wonderful to be so appreciated. I'm so happy to hear that you enjoyed this video and it was helpful to you. I love the UV resin, it gives such a nice finish. I'm so ready for the cooler weather here, I've been cursing the sun as well. It's really hot here in Las Vegas 🔥 I have several followers that email me pictures of their creations. I would love to see some of your cement creations. As crafters we tend to make do because we ARE creative. BUT, I would like to strongly suggest to invest in the proper tools because you are WORTH it! You don’t have to spend a fortune. Just buy a piece at a time. The proper tools make SUCH a difference in your crafting experience. Treat yourself once in a while.
Hi Sandra You are absolutely right! The correct tools make all the difference in the world and it will save you tons of time and frustration. And I treat myself more than once in a while 😂 Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to send me a message 😊💖
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I am not a bead maker, I'm a sollshouser, but your porcelain look beads can be adapted to make jars, vases abd all sorts. Many thanks for the ideas ❤
Hi Jeanette It's amazing how you can take a technique and apply it to all sorts of crafts. Happy crafting! Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to send me a message 💖😊
Hi from Italy. I' m a teacher and i did paper beads with my pupils using wallpaper samples cuttings. Every one did a necklace for mother's day we used toothpicks to roll the paper, vinilic glue and decoupage varnish for finishing them. Love
Hi Maria, I've actually heard of that before. I'm planning on doing a follow up video and using wallpaper will be part of my new project. This is such a fun hobby, and great for kids! Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to send me a message 😊💖
I remember making these decades ago. I used magazine pages and I had a hand cranked machine to roll them. The rollers from Amazon are like quilling tools. I have one from a Tim Holtz florals die set.
Hi there! Sending love right back in your direction as well 💖 Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to send me a message all the way from India 😊💖
I never thought of decopauge on the beads; I can't wait to try that; I've got some beautiful napkins to use. Great tutorial! I've been making paper & clay beads for quite awhile but I learned some new things from you; thank you! I use stick glue; I find it less messy and it dries fast. Instead of resin; I use a granular substance (I can't remember the name at the moment - that drawer in my brain must be stuck lol) that when you apply heat it makes a beautiful thick clear coat. Thick Embossing powder! Got that drawer open! There's something satisfying about melting the powder to a liquid that hardens to a resin type substance very relaxing! Anyway thank you so much for your video!!
Hi there! The decoupage on beads turns out pretty cool. I have seen people use the embossing powder. I've not tried that because I love the UV resin so much lol.... I’m so happy to see that you enjoyed this video. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to send me a message 😊💖
Hi there! Yes, I've been hearing a lot of people say that they made these back in the 60's. It's such a fun hobby! Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to send me a message 😊💖
Beautiful! I've been making them for years. I string them on a wire hanger and cover with triple thick. I've made some very nice beads. Thank you for sharing!
I remember doing this as a kid in the 70's. Back then, we were repurposing and reusing for almost all of our crafts. Magazines made great beads and i think we rolled them on pencils. Thanks for the memory!
Since I published this video, I've heard from sooo many people that they did this as a kid with magazine paper. It must have been really popular back then. I'm so glad that you enjoyed this video. I'm thinking of doing a follow up video featuring making the beads out of magazine paper. Should be fun! Let me know your thoughts. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to send me a message 😊💖
Hi there! I'm so glad to see that you enjoyed this video. I hope you give it a try. I have several followers that email me pictures of what they make. I love when they do that. Hello from So. Texas. Love this bead tutorial. I first saw beads like this in Wimberley, TX yrs ago, which were made by women in Africa. I was so taken by how unique they were & loved where the money for my bracelet was going to help these ladies, too. The bracelet string broke, but I still have the beads & plan to restring them. Now, I can make some beads of my own, as well.
Hi Rebecca! Thank you and I'm happy you enjoyed this video! That's so awesome that you kept all the beads. Now you can make an amazing bracelet. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to send me a message 😊💖
I used to make paper beads for fun when i was kid and today I suddenly remember that was awesome and i wanted to try them again thank you for bringing that memory again ❤️
Hi there! They are fun to make, aren't they? You can do so much with them, and the resin makes them look like a porcelain bead. You wouldn't even know they are paper. That's such a nice memory. Have so much fun with it 💖 Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to send me a message all the way from Uttarakhand, India 😊💖
Oh, Donna!! This video popped up on my feed tonight and I LOVE paper beads but never knew how to make them. Now, I do! I am really impressed with the finished look and those darling little findings you inserted into the wider beads. They are just adorable and would make a beautiful pair of earrings! Thank you again, and you have a new subscriber!! I'm from Colorado Springs

Huntsville, Alabama, USA. These were so, so pretty. I grew up part of the time in Taiwan where there were a lot of Chinese, porcelain beads and jewelry, and these looked like those. I love the effect and am very interested in getting into this. Thanks for posting it.
What a lovely tutorial, I remember making something very similar but not as pretty when I was in junior school with wallpaper cut into strips. I am originally from the UK but now live in Spain. Thanks for sharing 😊
Hi Jill Thank you so much. I’m so happy to see that you enjoyed this video. I've heard a lot of people saying they've made these beads out of wallpaper and magazine pages. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to send me a message all the way from Spain 😊💖
What a wonderful tutorial! I've been wanting to start making jewelry again, and want to make my own beads. This will be a great way to start. I LOVE the resin! I'd've never known it was rolled up paper! Hello & thank you from a New Orleans girl in Mississippi! 😊

Hi Wendy I'm so happy to hear that the instructions are easy to understand. I actually worry about things like that. What good is an instructional video, if you can't understand the instructions... lol... Thanks so much for letting me know! Warning! Once you try this hobby, you'll be soooo hooked. Hi there! I hear a lot of people tell me that same thing. These were really popular a while back. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to send me a message 😊💖
Hi from South Africa...I used to make these beads when I was a child, we used to use old magazines 😊 I'm now 68 years old, so glad this hobby is still ongoing ❤
Hi Eva Yes, this hobby is still going strong! It's sure been around for a long time. I've heard of other people using magazines to make them as well. Thanks for watching and taking the time to send me a message all the way from South Africa 😊💖

This is a very old technique : I learned it when I was 8 years old, at school, and at that time we used photos taken from magazines. Many years later I remembered this when I saw beautiful papers done by hand used to cover old books (in french : papier à la cuve), and I did some necklaces again ! I am 73 now and sometimes, I do some again, it's really funny !
Hi there! Yes, this has been around for a long time. I'm glad to see that you still do it. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to send me a message 😊💖
This brings back memories. I'm almost 70 yo, and my first grade teacher had us recite the Longfellow Hiawatha poem for a school assembly for families, and we made these had rolled beads, wider strips than you used, and wound around pencils. We did not do a porcelain finish. Our paper was from books of wallpaper samples. It was fun. I'm glad to see this video. My first grade class was in Willits, CA, and Mrs. Dennis was our teacher.
Hi there, I've had a lot of people say they made these beads a long time ago with magazines, books and wallpaper. I'm going to do a follow up video using those items. Just for fun! Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to send me a message 😊💖
Hi Helen, the paper beads are pretty fascinating, aren't they? I love to do really different things to make them. I can never do anything plain. It's a curse 😆Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to send me a message 😊💖
Hi Sandy Wow, I've see so many comments on the different things people are using for paper and how they are rolling them. It's so interesting! Anything round works! Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to send me a message 😊💖

I adore them, I have made them before but never with a resin top coat. The ditsy flower one makes my heart happy. I'm watching it on a sunny Sunday morning in the UK
Good morning Doreen, although it's probably afternoon there now! The resin top coat makes all the difference in the world, doesn't it? I love the little flower one too. I've actually had that paper in my craft stash for quite a while, and I though it would look so cute for one of these beads. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to send me a message all the way from the UK 💖😊

😎Greetings from Yermo, California - about 180 miles from Las Vegas, Nevada. Love your video. I have been making paper beads for over 50 years & use gift wrapping paper because it is so cheap from dollar stores. It comes in so many different prints (my favorite are the metallics) & I can make hundreds of beads from one roll. I use clear nail polish but have never thought to use UV resin. Thank you for that tip; I will have to try it. 👍
Hi Barbbette I'm so glad to hear that you enjoyed this video. Wow! Great idea with the wrapping paper. I'll have to try that. I think you'll like the UV resin. It makes them look just like porcelain. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to send me a message from Yermo California. I've been there! 💖😊 📧My email: masoncreationsetc@yahoo.com
I remember making paper beads with my girls when they were little. The cylinder beads and that resin are new to me, tho. I think my granddaughters would love this! (Watching from just east of St Louis, btw)

Ah, Las Vegas! I have been to Reno 44 (!) years ago. I was young and hitchhiked across almost all States. Now I am old but still thinking back to these old days and all my wonderful experiences. I hitchhiked on 101 and just saw the San Francisco city limits and the radio played "(If you come to) San Francisco by Scott McKenzie exactly the same moment. I send you hugs from Berlin/Germany!!! It is already pretty cold here....(Love your vid!!!)
Hi there! Yes, the cotter pins are pretty cheep and work well. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to send me a message from the Pocono Mountains 💖😊
I do a lot of resin projects and have never heard of paper beads. I told my sister on the phone that I went to HL today and spent $25.00 on glass beads because they were 50% off. And now your video shows up on my youtube! Amazing! I'll have to try it. Thanks.
Hi there! I guess Google was spying on you... lol... They are so much fun to make, and the resin makes all the difference in the world. Have fun with this and let me know how your beads turn out. Roberta from Oregon, love the video, I'm inspired! I used to make these out of old calendars and Elmers glue back in the 1960's and loved the results. I think I'll make some now! Thanks for your wonderful video, I really enjoy simple crafts from easy-to-find ordinary stuff, it's kind of magical!
Hi Roberta! Thank you and I'm happy you enjoyed this video! They are really fun to make. And I love that you can make them out of literally anything. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to send me a message 😊💖
Harlem NYC. Watching for 2nd time, as the 1st time I had skipped through. Came back because NOBODY elses' beads seemed to have quite the same quality in the glazing, antiquing, stamping and the edge treatment. What a great way to customize plain cylinder beads! I'm going to try a food-grade resin. Thanks so much for sharing!
Hi there! I'm so glad you enjoyed this video. I can never leave anything plain lol... I can't sleep at night unless I jazz something up! These beads can really be a lot of fun to make. There are just so many possibilities. And the resin makes all the difference, doesn't it? I have several followers that email me pictures of their completed projects. I absolutely love to see them. I'd love to see some pictures of the beads you create. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to send me a message from Harlem NYC 💖😊 📧My email: masoncreationsetc@yahoo.com

These are amazing. Now I have to go to Amazon and see if I can find some of the tools you used. I saw another video where she used paper napkins to make paper beads. You've opened up a world of options for me.
Hi Patricia! Thank you and I'm happy you enjoyed this video! I'm going to leave you some safe links to the tools I used. They are also in the description box below the video title. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to send me a message 😊💖 UV Resin-Brush not included (use paint brush) (Amazon): amzn.to/43u55EW UV Flashlight for Curing (Amazon): amzn.to/3VUHZDq Paper Bead Roller (Amazon): amzn.to/3AqTOsC Paper cutter (Amazon): amzn.to/3Nfghk2
Hi there Crafty Friends! I'm so sorry, but I forgot to give you the curing time on the UV resin. UV Resin needs to cure at least 1 minute. Please cure your beads for 1 to 2 minutes.
Do you have to cure under a uv light?
@@jennidua8423 yes you do for 1 to 2 minutes
Thank you
Thank you - I was about to ask just that!!
You're very welcome 😊💖
I was taught without tools but you put down this creator yet you used tools which was matchsticks. Also fancy paper is cheaper than magazines.
My Grandma showed us how whenI was a kid. Rollem round a toothpick
I'm sure my phone listens in on my conversations. At the thrift store today I talked with the manager about the paper bead necklaces in the case. Now I've had this pop up in my feed. No coincidence!

Hi there! I LOVE that, "beads of hope" I absolutely love the positive words on the back. What a very cool idea. The UV gel polish is pretty much the same as the UV resin. I've used that too.
Photocopy them, that way the originals are still in tact and you’ll can preserve it 🤍
I think that's an excellent idea 😊💖
Thanks for sharing your ideas to celebrate your father’s life. Photocopying is importantif you use stuff that won’t deteriorate over the years. ❤
Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to send me a message all the way from South Africa 💖😊

Hi Melissa
I think that's so cute that you didn't want to cut up the pretty pictures. I'm hearing from a lot of people that they made these beads as a child. This hobby has been around for a long time. I'm happy to see that this brought back memories for you. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to send me a message 😊💖
Still teaching 5 months later. THANK YOU! 😊❤❤
Many wonderful ideas!

Hi Sandra
You are absolutely right! The correct tools make all the difference in the world and it will save you tons of time and frustration. And I treat myself more than once in a while 😂 Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to send me a message 😊💖

Indiana here, I remember making these in the ‘60’s. A timeless craft❣️

Would love to see them
I remember doing this as a kid in the 70's.

Hi Barbbette

I'd love to see some pictures of the beads you create. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to send me a message from Harlem NYC 💖😊

These are amazing. Now I have to go to Amazon and see if I can find some of the tools you used. I saw another video where she used paper napkins to make paper beads. You've opened up a world of options for me.
