Thanks to everyone who voted to let me know you want more "verbatim bass covers!" Here's the first of the series. Tabs (PDF), Guitar Pro, Backing Tracks, and isolated Bass Stems are all at www.patreon.com/NathanNavarro
Hey Nathan, I'm hearing octaves on the part at 0:53, instead of a single-note pattern. Is that my bad ear or something else? Great cover, it really helped me learn the song :)
NATHAN NAVARRO on the fender bass!
Video quality is too high for a Vulfpeck cover
needs to be 480p with a film grain filter
Writing out the sheet music and editing videos on top of learning the song must take a lot of time.
Thanks for giving us such quality content, Nathan.
Much appreciated, RJ! :)
those triplets sounds so good
That little "lick" or whatever that technique is called at 1:28 and 2:20 is the coolest thing ever.
It is also reaaaly hard to achieve... at least for me :D
I've kinda mimicked it with double thumping to make kinda a triplet but not sure if that's what he's doing
@@wagglewiggle As far as I can tell it's a muted triplet pop-slap, down on the thumb and up on the middle and pointer fingers (or whichever 2 fingers you use for popping)
Wow! Great job on this. I was on the edge of my seat at 3:22 wondering if you were gonna play that lick. Nailed it!
Loved it Nathan! More Vulfpeck please!
Thanks for posting this. It was cool to see the 3 ways of how to play this song. Personal, bass clef & tabs. No matter how you learn. You could figure out how to play this song. Good on you Nathan. You're ridiculous.
I might finally be at the point where I can play this. Thanks for the tab, because I am completely incapable of learning music by ear atm
I'm going to learn this now! Thankyou for being so great
Impeccable technique
Great video man, your video makes me want to learn the line myself now
Next do a mash up of LAX with Billy Joel’s “Movin Out.”
Phenomenal Nate 🔥🔥🔥🔥🤙🏽🎸
finally, a vulfpeck cover!
sounds real good Nathan
yes
More Vulfpeck please!
Wow that is epic❤️
wow Nathan jumping on the Cover+Tabs-train. TY man! These kind of videos are so important for my practice routine. I usually don't do this but since it is you...I dare to ask for some prog metal stuff. Maybe some TesseracT? BTBAM? :)
I love you for making this one
Thank you brother
Amazing bass player!
Cool. Thankyou.
You da man, Nathan!
I love this so much! Good idea to tab it out for us mere mortals!
hi, thanks for the tabs
Nice
I think this is just at the right level where this is challenging for me but doable
I approve of this content
Loved this cover, Could you do «Dua Lipa - LEVITATING» after ?
Thanks ♪♫
Nathan! Can we get a play a long video to your version of Blinding Lights??? Thanks, from a fellow Nathan.
That PJ is so beautiful
Спасибо!Merci!
I miss the dub step and WUB WUBZ, any solo funky stuff you wanna share with us?! Flawless playing as always sir ✌️
I was listening to this song and thought man i wanna learn this, then this tab dropped
SAME. The other tab video I found was good, but Nathan mixes his bass to easily cut the mix, not to mention he's great at demonstrating technique.
1er comentario!!! Saludos desde Argentina!!!💪💪💪
At 1:25 you do some really quick ghost notes or something I’m new to music theory what is that called so I can learn it on the bass cuz as of now I have no clue how to do those so fast when slapping
It's called double pluck in slap bass technique. First pluck you do with your index finger and second with middle.
Double thumb
It is a relatively new, and also advanced bass technique called “double thumbing”, pioneered by Victor Wooten. It works by using your thumb like a pick, slapping the string, and then bringing it back up, striking the string a second time. I will try to link a video of Victor explaining it.
As a begginer i've gotta say this scares me but it's great at the same time
as a beginner you're starting off right with the vulfpeck influence. me too.
jesus, wicked tone!
vulfpeck wait for the moment !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bass ramps!
This is Wat I want
Your tone on this is #goalz sheesh
Hi Nathan !!!!!! Cheers from Brasil!!!! Peace guy !!!! You can play a cover from Thought Chamber with Derek blakley on Bass ?or ARK from burn The sun ,of Randy Conven?
2 finger galloping tutorial pls
Nathan, you could try to add a bass to their last song "How much do you love me?" It's a fun songr and a challenge to not put too many notes.
My first car would be great.
or the guitar in conscious club
anything vulfpeck you want actually or something else, whatever, you're great!
I was literally just thinking that I could use a tab for this song
How do you blend the two pickups in this video? Are they balanced, on either of them sounds closer to Joe Dart's?
At 1:28 and 2:20. How is that slap technique accomplished and what is it called?? Any help would be appreciated. I cant get it.
I think it’s using the double thumb technique. After muting the strings, first you do one slap with your thumb on the 3rd string and moving from lower to higher strings, then you do another slap on the same string but with the nail of your thumb and moving from higher to lower strings, and finally you do a pop on the first string.
Sorry for bad English.
What s string gauge do you use?
Hey Nathan, could I ask what effects/balance you used here? Got my first electric a month or two ago, and wondered what makes the difference between this smooth sound and the vibrant sound of the last video
Congrats on getting an electric! The smooth sound here is from using flatwound strings. Roundwound strings were used in the previous video. :)
What is the technique called for those slap ghost note triplets? That's the only part of the song I can't do so far
Double thumb
Never been this early
More vulf
Is someone know what technique is this? @2:18
Натан как всегда молотчик !👍
What attracted you to the bass instead of other instruments?
makes me want to learn bass...hahaha
Sounds like a james jamerson bassline but with slap
I am confused about how to slap the ghost notes at 1:27 (at measure 44) and what do the arrows mean
I think maybe he's struming down on the A string with his thumb, then up on the same string with his thumb, and then plucking the G string with his index all really fast...but I am not entirely sure. I'm trying to figure it out too
Well Thank you for trying but I think your right
Joe Dart is top! Nathan too!!!
No doubt you've answered this a million times, but is that foam between your pickups? Why do you put it there rather than the above the bridge?
that thumbs up at the end tho...
1:28 how?
It's just muted double thumb
It's good to see grammatically correct enharmonic spelling sometimes!
Yo we have the same bass 👊
No doubt that, someday, people who left those 2 dislikes will search for this video and come here once again, they will feel ashamed after they enjoy the entire video.
If God forbid, Joe ever fell ill midtour, you would be his only worthy replacement! 😯😯
joe dart on the joe dart...
Not enough neck movement 2/10
Nate im going to be real with you, I dont like the tone of your bass on this cover, too much treble
