@@saebkahled9260 Well that's too bad since it's almost a direct comparison considering VF was where Harada took inspiration from. VF is the OG of 3d fighters, Tekken wouldn't even be a thing if VF didn't come first. I'm not saying Tekken is bad, it's an ok game if you don't mind only using 12 to 15 moves and 12% of the roster as your complete offence in order to have a better win/loss ratio against top players. You do you. However, there is no question that VF is by far a deeper more complete experience in terms of a full fighting game and it only gets better in the pros because instead of using less moves you have to use more.

We kinda already got a VF vs DoA in DoA5 since a bunch of VF characters were guests in the game. They were framedata-accurate as well (Akira had his 1frame knee and everything).

I found my man in Jeffry, and I also like Brad, but this video makes me consider trying Goh as well. Overall, I like this game a lot. Online is quick to get into, and rank progression seems well thought.
Jacky Bryant. Jacky is always the answer, I never get tired of playing him. Once you get those flash sword kicks down to a science, you’re on the fast track to style. Played him in both VF and DOA, and had a blast in both
Yes! Finally someone who gets me! Jacky Bryant flash sword kick is absolutely the golden rule for playing as him. Been a experienced main of jacky since VF4
I’m a simple man, if I see a Jeet Kune Do character, he’s my gonna be my Main or Secondary at the very least. Jann Lee and Jacky are probably my favorites.
Played Akira back in the 2006 version and I’m gonna continue playing him now. All his hits are satisfying! He’s super hard for sure but I’m willing to stick with my boy till the end
Kage was my character when I used to play this game! But after I watched the full video, I will pick up Jean Kujo, and maybe Brad Burns. From my memory, Lion and Lei felt like they were very button mash friendly compared to most of the characters, and Akira the first time I played felt like he couldn't do anything HAHAHAH!!! One more day and I will be playing some VF5 :D

Having Akira as the face of the game may be a very subtle form of communicating 2 messages from Yu Suzuki to the gen pop. 1. He looks like your standard middle of the road Ryu pick up and play character when he’s anything but. He isn’t just deep and hard to master BUT he’s simultaneously button mashing resistance personified and learning him requires a serious investment of time and energy but also if you DONT learn him you have no chance. Most ppl unfamiliar with the game will choose him cuz he looks like Ryu upon first playing and that will be their first lesson with this game; this is gonna be WAY harder than you think and there is depth here but you gotta unlock it. 2. Akira being 1 of the hardest to learn and certainly the hardest original character to learn and also being the face of the game is a message to those that know the game; This game is deep, difficult and rewarding. Ppl that know Akira is a bear to learn seeing him as the mascot can also recognize him as a metaphor for the entire engine itself. He speaks not only to the depth of the system but also the reward that comes from mastering it since he, once mastered, is one of the most powerful characters . Once one learns the game they can make any character a complete beast… Okay okay I’ll go take a walk!
Awesome guide! I like Bruce Lee characters, especially Law and Jann Lee, so I plan on trying Jacky Bryant for myself, but I'll take Wolf and Taka into consideration, as I love big boy grapplers! :3

So stoked for this gem. Love the retro block characters too. I remember reading several early comments upon the reveal how it looked no better than VF5FS! Utter garbage. This version is next level. 👊
@@biquiba Admittedly, MK 11 is possibly the pinnacle in terms of looks. Having said that, it's probably easier for developers to incorporate finer details in a 2D fighter. In terms of animation, VF is poetry in motion. Nothing except perhaps Soul Calibur can touch it imo.
@@jonahmad7237 I have no doubt. I'm at a reasonably high rank in Tekken but I've been looking for a side game. I think this will scratch the itch! Tried out Guilty Gear too but I realized 2D's just aren't for me. So I'm grateful for another 3D option.

Thanks so much for this. I've never played a 3D fighting game (unless you count some VERY casual Soul Calibur 2 years ago) so I'm learning how to approach them. I'm relatively new to 2D fighters too, but at least there I know I usually like zoners which aren't a thing here. Right now I'm thinking of starting with Aoi, Jean, or maybe Eileen
i love how wolf's burning hammer is as you said the single most damaging move in the game ...as in real life it was one of if not THE most protected moves in wrestling with i think only kota ibushi kicking out of it against the brian kendrick in a wwe event
Maaan im so torn On one i wanna wrastle, but on the other hand i love fatti boi characters like Taka Thanks for the overview, cant wait to play tonight!
To me the most fascinating thing about fighting games is what motivates players to choose the characters they do. This is an excellent rudimentary breakdown of the cast and will shorten the process of choosing a main for many for sure, especially since the game isn't really awash with sick character designs that appeal to the baser parts of one's fighting game psyche; it's all pretty much Archetypes 101. Can't wait for the KOF XV choosing your main video; that's one's gonna be a long one.
that video is gonna be a friggin nightmare. I think what I might do is group everyone into archetypes and then compare them against each other in the archetype. Like shermie/clark both grapplers, but highlight differences.
Talking about Jean: “I don’t think characters will get designed like this today.” Yeah, but you can’t deny that a French, goth, karateka with chain belts and a crop top under his gi looks rad as hell

Just wanted to mention that I love your tone in your videos: enthusiastic and friendly, always trying to teach and share your love for these games! You content is highly enjoyable, thank you :)
Now I'm just gonna cross my fingers and hope for a PC version of VF!
Well thank you for that friend! As for pc version... wait until the PS+ version runs out, cause thats probably when that hits.
While waiting, you can buy Yakuza Like a Dragon and play VF5 in the arcade section. There's also a mod that enable you to play VF5 directly.
Big fan of the anime. 💛 Played the last one. Ive been waiting for this.
Real Jeet Kun Do man. Not a clown Law in latest tekken
I’m a simple man, if I see a Jeet Kune Do character, he’s my gonna be my Main or Secondary at the very least. Jann Lee and Jacky are probably my favorites.
We need one who Fights like Kenshiro Rock Lee Billy Lee Fei Long
Liu Kang & Jann Lee
Played Akira back in the 2006 version and I’m gonna continue playing him now. All his hits are satisfying! He’s super hard for sure but I’m willing to stick with my boy till the end
Kage was my character when I used to play this game! But after I watched the full video, I will pick up Jean Kujo, and maybe Brad Burns. From my memory, Lion and Lei felt like they were very button mash friendly compared to most of the characters, and Akira the first time I played felt like he couldn't do anything HAHAHAH!!! One more day and I will be playing some VF5 :D
If MrTopTenList's video of top ten grapplers in fighting games video brought you here for Wolf brought you here because he's got sick wrestling moves, you can like this comment. Great informational video here roofle, appreciate it
Thanks for not going tge 30second clip route and providing actual content for us!! 💯💪🏾
haha, well I am starting a clips channel but on here, the main channel? The problem is as always things are gonna run long 🐵
@@rooflemonger yea rather have a seperate channel for short clips than have the main channel get drowned out like alot of other channels, keep up the hard great work man!
@@dr.platinum2336 Well if I have proven anything over the years is this ship runs a lot tighter than a lot of those other channels 💪🐵
@@rooflemonger yessir lol
Kage is my main character since VF1. He is cool and his moves are so fluid. This series has the most badass characters.
I was interested in Goh when you mentioned judo, but I was sold when you said "Weird zombie yakuza people"
He definitely brings the badass to judo
He sure does
This is the best video for introducing the characters to beginners, that I've seen.
Thanks a lot for this guide! I came from Tekken and MK games. So VF is quite unique after all. I'll be much appreciated for more guide videos. Have a nice day ✌️
What an awesome overview! Great job Rooflemonger. Been playing Virtua Fighter since the original in the arcade. Wish they would make a new one or port this to PC with graphic options.
Rooflemonger always come in clutch with these videos
Hyped for this. Akira, Sarah, and my big Boi Taka Arashi. Let's go!!!!
Yooo this was a really great intro to all the cast! Great job man! Liked that you switched up the locals instead of just sitting in training mode with each character to boot. Haven't played VF in quite awhile so it was really cool getting to see all the classic VF5 stages again with a new coat of paint. Game looks beautiful.
Great vid dude! Very informative and it’s taught me things about the VF characters that I never knew and I’ve played VF5 since the PS3 days! Definitely Subscribing!
Once one learns the game they can make any character a complete beast…
Okay okay I’ll go take a walk!
This is great stuff. Virtua Fighter experts are very rare
Awesome guide! I like Bruce Lee characters, especially Law and Jann Lee, so I plan on trying Jacky Bryant for myself, but I'll take Wolf and Taka into consideration, as I love big boy grapplers! :3
hey roof, i just wanted to throw some appreciation your way. you create and edit these long videos because you genuinely care about the FGC. and thats somewhat rare these days. you arent getting paid for this stuff, you’re doing it to help out newcomers and take make the FGC as welcoming as possible. so, thank you roof. we all appreciate you!!
I think I'm going with the Bigbois Wolf and Taka. Vanessa looks interesting AF
If you're prepared to put some time into the dojo, then there aren't actually any weak characters 👍🥋
so many characters are so cool, I'm having trouble deciding who to use. I think I'm gonna try learning all the characters I'm most interested in, but I still need to narrow it down to like 3-5 before going crazy
thanks for uploading these VF videos roofle. i had vf3 when i was a kid but i was just messing around. this'll be my first vf to get into and it looks pretty interesting. i think i've come to realize that 3d fighters are more my pace. i tend to pick these up quicker than 2d for some weird reason. appreciate your content bro!
A breath of fresh air from MK11 thank you so much for the effort you put to explain us all the characters, looking forward for more videos.
Super helpful. Thanks for taking the time to break down the general traits and styles of the characters.
Pick Jeffry, just to hear "I win!"
Akira is one of the most satisfying character to master in any game actually. He's rightfully strong. I didn't really play him in VF but i main him in doa5 haha
I'm Soo jealous you're getting a head start🤣 great video. Akira is my main but I definitely wouldn't recommend him for beginners right away
The last VF game I played was on the Saturn, so thanks for this.
Man ,it's been a minute for you.
@@LittleBigKid707b I’m old, yes
So stoked for this gem. Love the retro block characters too. I remember reading several early comments upon the reveal how it looked no better than VF5FS!
Utter garbage. This version is next level. 👊
That 30fps highly compressed leaked IGN video made the game no favors. Imo, on PS4 it's only 2nd to MK11.
I’m trying it out for the first time today and I’m very pleasantly surprised with how good it looks
@@ohacade408 Good to hear. There's an amazing level of depth in the gameplay too. The more you play, the more you'll discover.
@@jonahmad7237 I have no doubt. I'm at a reasonably high rank in Tekken but I've been looking for a side game. I think this will scratch the itch! Tried out Guilty Gear too but I realized 2D's just aren't for me. So I'm grateful for another 3D option.
Fantastic video Roofle. As a Wolf player you deserve a big Awooooooohhhh for your effort.
Great character overviews, hopefully the algorithm blesses you with views for all the psplus people diving in :D
I always rang myself out with Blaze's run as a kid
thank you so very much for this video, was actually waiting for this!
Goh and Vanessa, they’re so much fun to me.
Monkey kung fu? Sign me up!
Shun Di looks pretty interesting too.
Yay VF content!!!
I started with El Blaze and got good but ended up switching my main to Taka. Thanks for the advice!!
I've been playing since the first game and this was still an amazing video guide all around. Thank you for this!
Holy $%! Aoi is better than DOA itself! Lol I am learning Jean. I used to study Shotokan so Karate characters in fighting games are my main draw.
Wait is this out?? I’ve been so excited for this!
Virtua Fighter 5 was one of my favorite fighting games. Couldn’t believe they were remaking it. Shun Di and Kage Maru were super fun to play.
Great video as always!
Edit: Once again the joke is on me since the Xbox doesn’t get this game 🥲
Shun Di, Lei, Aoi; Eileen and Taka are my favourites.
SoulCalibur is a weapons fighter, so it's not exactly the same as hand to hand.
We need to have 11 & Stuff by Wicked Wokes deleted
i love how wolf's burning hammer is as you said the single most damaging move in the game ...as in real life it was one of if not THE most protected moves in wrestling with i think only kota ibushi kicking out of it against the brian kendrick in a wwe event
Maaan im so torn
On one i wanna wrastle, but on the other hand i love fatti boi characters like Taka
Thanks for the overview, cant wait to play tonight!
Remakes Reboots Remasters Updates & Upgrades are getting kinda old including Recasting and Cutting Characters
Lei-Fei has always been my favorite character; I love his customization options too!
I love hearing how knowledgeable our boi is about wrestling. It makes my mark heart twitter
Great breakdown, I liked the amount of detail combined with the general style overviews.
Talking about Jean: “I don’t think characters will get designed like this today.”
Yeah, but you can’t deny that a French, goth, karateka with chain belts and a crop top under his gi looks rad as hell
Jean is actually half French & half Japanese.
He is only Franch just like his Childhood Friend & Rival

You sang to my soul when you called it a Pop-uo Diamond Cutter ♥️
Vanessa is my favorite. Used to play Kage as a kid back in the day. I used to pronounce his name as Cage 🤣
I think we ALL did that, I know for sure and my brother did. From VF1 all the way up until VF4. Lol.
I thought I was the only one lol we didnt know any better.
I still did till just now😂
