I've even got my 79 year old mum into loving your videos.
She'll say "There's nothing on Tele, put that nice young fella on that goes walking in all those lovely places"
Keep up the top work
👍👍👍
Haha that's awesome mate! Say hi to your mum for me.
@@ScottysGoneWalkabout we watched the Banjo's 1st camp trip last night.
She loved him.
Say hi to your mom for me too.
@@ScottysGoneWalkabout
Watching a few of your other videos,
have you thought about getting a G-Shock GWG-1000 watch.
It comes with a triple sensor and has
Compass
Thermometer
Altimeter and
Barometer so you can predict weather changes too.
I've got one and they're great.
I think it'd be perfect for what you do.
At least I am not the only one. Got the whole family hooked. Its a great way to just chill and watch all these stunning places you got you and let's not talk about these gourmet meals you whip you..
Definitely hit us with more snow camps…absolutely beautiful scenery in winter ❄️
Scotty, that was bloody awesome, you have single-handedly changed my perspective of the Australian outdoors. I never imagined what a varied landscape Aussie possessed. As for your snakes that’s another issue, you amaze me how you charge through undergrowth and long grass, almost negligent of the possibility of snakes, often barefooted!!! Love your work. Cheers from N.Z.
Mate love your vids but need to be really careful with collecting firewood in a NSW National Park, especially Kozi and ripping branches straight off trees, even if they're dry and dead. I doubt you would have been within the rules, but please explain when this is legal - and not teach everyone to go in there and burn everything.
I used to work at the snow. One of my favourite things was going home after midnight in the dark by foot and enjoying the absolute silence, looking at the milky way on a clear night. I loved that stillness. It's just magic.
Yeah, bloke. You keep churning them out, we'll keep watching. Love the diversity in your content, mate. You've motivated me to get out and do it myself before I get too old and unfit. Need some more bits and pieces before I head out, but won't be long now.
Thanks mate and that's awesome! You'll love it.
Go for it Swingsloth...he has done the same to me.
@@stevehobbs9015 which region are you in, cobber?
@@swingsloth ...we live in penrith area...don't rough it quite like Scotty...we have an old Toyota Tarago van converted for camping (only 2 seats, no passengers haha)..and we have been to a lot of spots and yet we never seem to get to the snowy mtns to actually camp there.! But trust me...the times coming. Where do you hail from mate.
@@stevehobbs9015 Brisbane. Looking for some pretty spots and think I'll be walking in to them. But getting my gear sorted still.
Loved this one Scotty! One of your best honestly and it’s refreshing to see some Australian snow camping which isn’t very common. Loved every second. Keep it up and I hope to see you back again before winter ends 👌
Just discovered your videos and love them. They are good for my mental health and calm me down. Thanks mate.
I was worried when I saw the exped mat on the outside of your pack that you wouldn’t have enough R value under you for winter camping. Relieved to see that you also had an inflatable mat with you when you went through your gear. Good idea to use the exped to boost the R value of your other mat but also good for safety given the problem you’re having with the other mat deflating. Why don’t you have a look at the exped range of inflatable mats as a possible replacement? They’ve got some great winter options with high r values. Once again, I never cease to be impressed with your menu planning and skills in the backcountry kitchen!
Beautiful snowy mountains and campsite. Seems odd to see snow when here in parts of the US, UK, Portugal and Spain, we are experiencing 3-digit temps and wildfires, as I'm sure you've seen on the news. I live along the shores of Lake Michigan, so thankfully, we're not having real hot weather and no fires. Your dinner with the sausage, etc, looked good and the breakfast looked even better! I could almost smell the maple cured bacon. It's my favorite. Snow and cold weather camping are my favorite kind of videos, so you can keep them coming. Do you ever do a hot tent? Take care and hoo roo!
I loved this one, so vastly different to all your other trips. In my ignorance I didn’t know Australia had so much snow but I do now thanks to you. Glad you enjoyed yourself. It wasn’t until the snow melted under your fire that you could see how deep it was. Epic, look forward to the next one. Take care, be safe. Dorset, UK
Our snowy alps get more snow that Switzerland. Where I live in NSW 2 and a half hours drive from Sydney we get mostly light snow falls over the course of our winter and we can get heavy falls that can stay around for 2 weeks in some areas.. it’s even snowed in December at summer.. 🧐🇦🇺
Not to mention Tasmania@@aussiekat6379 covered with snow right now in an area about as big as England. I remember in the 1980's driving from Moss Vale to my home in Sydney and it was snowing all the way to Cambelltown. But people do not associate Australia with snow.
We seem to be enjoying a colder than usual winter all while the Northern Hemisphere is recording record heat waves.
@@SimonBrisbane not where I am it’s very typical winter weather we get the cold days and big frosts.. only thing differently is the amount of rain and that’s only due to the weather patterns changed from being in years of drought to lots of rain.. 🧐😊
man that meal was spot on!...cheers from new zealand!
Yeah, Great video my friend.. Good place, nice camping! Thankyou for sharing👍.. keep it up to build this channel.. thankyou my friend 👍
Really love that you acknowledge the traditional country you're on. Great video as always!
I reckon a camp chair would have come in handy. Wise move not to go with a tarp set up haha. Can you pretty camp anywhere you want there? I might have to check it out.
Top video. Feel real lucky to have moved to the upper Murry at the base of those mountains.
Living the dream Scotty
Love your work Scotty. Haven’t even seen the vid yet but I know it’s about to be a banger!
Thanks mate
i love u luke xx
and Mash
We need a Scotties gone to Tassie series….please!
I agree. There's some amazing spots down there. I need to quit my day job so I have more time haha
@@ScottysGoneWalkabout I thought you had?.
He needs to make his way to the west as well.
@@timhaynes4967 You mean quit my day job? Nah I still work as a photographer during the week. I take Friday's off to do these trips.
Tassie is very underrated
So good.. i very like sausage to eat very nice👍👍👍👍🔥
Why light a fire on the snow when there were exposed rocks to use as a base?
Loved the still shots of the camp Scotty! Wouldn’t mind seeing some of your photography in the videos too if it isn’t too much of a hassle. Awesome vid once again! It’s bloody good to escape reality and watch a Scotty upload
Where’s your Akubra?! 😂 first thing my partner noticed when we started the vid haha
Loved this video….just read a book by an Australian author talking about the Snowy mountains. So good so get a picture of a place I read about….keep up he good work! Also love your leave no trace policy….and your respect for the Indigenous People….Loved it!
Would love to see more snow camps. I hadn't really thought of this as a possibility in Australia but it obviously is 🤔
Scotty, we have experienced beetle die back here, in our Appalachians, breaks my heart. It takes so long to grow a tree. Absolutely excited with you. I remember my first snow hike and climb, makes me smile like a kid. Your enthusiasm is quite contagious. Thanks for sharing. Kentucky
Thanks for this video Scotty. Since coming back to Victoria from Africa, I have been absolutely intrigued by snow this winter .. but I have been a little hesitant to go out and wild camp in the snow .. not really knowing how to begin. But this video has just inspired me! Great job.
Luke, start with a day trip that's actually just a few hours on snow. Look for a hire shop that does apres boots, snow shoes and toboggans. Work out where there's snow and a spot to park on the side of the road. Tramp uphill a bit (because you can more easily see the snow conditions uphill) and find a spot to toboggan a bit. Took Mr10 on just such a trip 3 weeks ago, they had hire in his size and he had a blast. After a few hours everyone's done, return to car, chill out home.
Why do i always get hungry watching your flicks? Great video, our Snowy Mountains are something special...
Shots, editing, sound everything here just cohesively turned this into an amazing video.
Hi Scotty, How kool are the Aussie highlands, stunning scenery, beautiful sunset and sunrise. Thanks for sharing mate.
We are blessed with an awesome country and people like Scotty showcase it to the world better than any paid tourism adverts. Just wish our population would appreciate it for what it really is. Thanks mate for the stunning shots we're so proud of what you do and how you do it... so naturally. Bushyboy Oz.
I definitely have to wait to i get home to sit back grab a beer and see this video. Love ya work mate. ❤️🇦🇺👍🍺🍺
Yeah mate, this vid is best served with an ice cold beer haha.
Same thoughts 🍻
Was that beer a mountain culture status quo?
Epic video, the view are spectacular, what app do you use to edit your video, they looks absolutely beautiful 🌱
Love the vid mate I am going on a snow scout hike up in the Victoria high country so this is just wot I needed
SNOW CAMP EXCELLENT VID
it snows in Australia? didnt know that.
beetles yes but alot of that area is also fire damaged. snow gums do not have epicormic growth only lignotuber type regrowth after fire. The amount of fire deadstand in kosi is unprecedented from the high alpine snow gums to the mountain ash. I spent HEAPS of time in kosi in the 1990s and it is unrecognisable.
Yeah the fire damage across the park is shocking, particularly around the Kiandra area. It's a shame to see such a beautiful and fragile ecosystem damaged by fire, beetle caused die back and feral horses. Better management is needed.
Scotty you legend… I don’t like your videos I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THEM!!! Love that you kept it real with your cute bloopers in this video too. Thanks mate, You truly inspire me to be camping in nature more. 😍🥰🏕🏞🌄🏔🤙🏾💘
bloody oath Scotty what an incredible place, nowhere else like it In the world. Snow and gumtree is a mint combo
Scotty, what a phenomenal trip. I did not know there were mountain of that altitude that had snow in Australia, I always learn something from your videos! I’m from Northern Wisconsin in the US and to me Winter camping is the best. For no other reason like you stated, no bugs or other things like snakes. Please continue to winter camp, I love it and look forward to learning more about your beautiful country! God speed and happy trails.
We actually have more snow by volume than Switzerland here in Oz.
@@leylandroberts4820 that’s amazing, I feel so dumb for not knowing that! , thanks for the info
@@leylandroberts4820 Ooh that is great to hear mate!!!. I will be moving to Oz by the end of this year with my family(MEL). And we just love it here, weather included. The only thing I don't understand is why most people of other countries think AUS is just a hot desert. I think 75% of the continent experiences all the 4 seasons. Perhaps it does not snow throughout the country in winter but definitely 1 digit temps prevail like anywhere in Europe or the US and people in the southern half of AUS cities need fire-place, centralised room heaters and stuff for at least 6 months in a year, I believe.
But I'm not sure why people from other countries still don't really know about this? What would be the reason for this brother?
Love all your videos not been watching long. I have watched just about all of them back to back. The videos are awesome and the land scape is gorgeous. Keep the videos coming absolutely awesome job Scott 👍👍.
Just spent a few day hiking in the Grampians National Park, Victoria, Australia and appreciated that I didn’t need to film or edit the hike. Easy to take for granted the time and effort that goes into your videos Scotty, keep up the good work mate. Snags and mash made me hungry 🤤
the scenery is breathtaking 🙌 100% adding this to the bucket list
Great video Scotty
Love your videos Scotty, just curious why you covered the fire pit?
I think he operates under a leave no trace policy.
A tip for starting a fire on snow: Put first a base of thick branches on the snow. Then start the fire as usual on this base. Starting a fire directly on snow is extremely difficult, as you experienced. It's because the melting snow is wetting the fire starter. Cheers
Maybe just clear some snow?
@@jackiekinner3826 Yes of course, that's easier. Especially when the snow layer is thin and when the underground is even. Cheers 😀
Come to Canada. We'll do a -30C camp. :)
Please keep them winter over nighters coming. Loving them!
Another awesome video mate, yeah it would be an advantage not to have to worry about snakes for once. Good feed as well , can’t beat banger’s and mash 👍👍🤠. Really enjoyed it .
Well done Scotty, another great video.
Mate!! One of your shorter vids but one of my favourites. Please do another (if you can). As an Aussie it’s so mad to see a new side of camping in our beautiful country. I’m from QLD so snow camping here would be such a dream to experience. Cheers mate 👍👍
Pantasan di bima NTB Indonesia dingin ternyata di australia salju
BTW, i don't agree with your approach to fire in that environment, snow grass and alpine vegetation is slow growing and that fire scar will take some time to recover, i think you probably should have had a little fire on the rocks rather than on the snow. if at all. something to think about. Generally its a no campfire area, risk is low in winter for wildfire but the scars take ages to recover.
Hey, I appreciate and understand your concern. My understanding is that campfires aren't allowed in the alpine regions of the Main Range. I wasn't in the main range and I was also below the tree line and therefore not in the alpine region (alpine is generally above 1800m). Perhaps I should have had the fire on the rock, but I know some people would also disagree with that as it can leave a permanent scar on the rock which is unsightly. By having it on the snow/ground, that will at least eventually get covered over.
@@ScottysGoneWalkabout The Main Range is just one small part of the alpine area. The northern parts of Kosci NP all the way to parts of Namadgi NP are alpine ecosystems, too. Open campfires are not permitted, nor is using wood in the NP as firewood, you're meant to bring you're own (or what has been supplied) if you're using a hut's fireplace (the only place they're allowed). There's a good reason open fires are not permitted in alpine regions - the vegetation grows VERY slowly, so it takes a long time to repair. Not to mention the role fallen timber plays in the ecosystem (as you note, already hit very hard by bushfires). Would be great if you could change the thumbnail on this video so people don't get the impression it's ok. Otherwise, love to see people backcountry touring in winter, it really is magical!
@@ScottysGoneWalkabout you are probably technically right, we always took a pretty tread lightly approach up there an only ever had fires at huts and established fire places etc. You were in a pretty uncommon area (albeit close to popular areas) so its probably not a big deal.
@@melissaclarke6959 Hey Melissa, can I ask where you got that info regarding campfires and firewood collection being prohibited?Because if you refer to the parks plan of management, what it says is that they "actively encourage all visitors to the Wilderness and Back Country Zones to use fuel stoves rather than campfires" and that they "Prohibit the use of campfires in the Main Range Management Unit". I was camping in a backcountry area, not in the Main Range. So, while NPWS encourage people to use gas stoves, you are still technically allowed to have a campfire. You are also allowed to collect firewood but the NPWS can prohibit it "where monitoring indicates that the collection of firewood is unsustainable."
Also, here is an excerpt from the Environment NSW website "Collecting timber for firewood is allowed in backcountry (more remote) areas, in any park category, except where it is: prohibited by a park plan of management" www.environment.nsw.gov.au/topics/parks-reserves-and-protected-areas/park-policies/firewood
I’m well aware of the reach and impact that my video’s can have, so I try my best to set a good example and abide by the rules. I always clean up my fire pit to leave no trace and I only ever select dead timber that isn’t a potential home for an animal.
Yep, agree. @Scotty's Gone Walkabouts , would love to see fuel-stove-only in your videos for alpine areas such as this. Don't get hung up on technicalities, the clear desire is for no fires. (And for good reason, it's such a rare and fragile part of our continent.) Your campfire and cooking is obviously an important ritual for you! But I bet you could make some small adjustments without too much trouble. It'd set a great example for your audience too. Anyway, nice one, enjoyed the video.
That was awesome Scotty! Keep the content coming..... 10/10
It's mad thinking of Aus' and snow, blizzards, crazy. Most of us just think bush and desert. What wildlife do you get up there if any? Had me drooling with the bangers there.
Great stuff Scottie can’t wait to get back on the road leave the Kimberley‘s for a little while and go and check out the Highcountry thanks for showing us that🍻🍻👍🤠🇦🇺
There's not a greater feeling on earth than walking over an untouched snow surface, seriously.
Loved the video, snow shoes where probably a bit over the top ;)
Magic country Scottie , really enjoyable video m8t 👍cheers 🍻thanks
Awsome mate👍...... would not matter where you went camping you would still make it look amazing
You are wearing pants!!!! Beautiful country, as always. Thanks for sharing.
Fantastic video. I did not know Australia has done in spots. I learn about cooking outdoors from you too. Thanks. Maryland USA.
How good is Australia! Thanks for showing its beauty to the world Scotty, and also showing how to respect the land we share with nature.
Great video - greetings from summertime in europe! Always happy trails...
Just did my first solo in central coast CA mountains - would love some feedback from anyone willing to check it out.
Bring back the Hat...Americanism is not you bloke!!!
Great video mate! Can’t wait to do my own first snow camp
Always a fan.. The picture clicks are a good 👍new touch.. Much peace ✌and positivity 👣
Loved the video, beautiful, such a cool look with the white in the ground 👍👍👍👍
It has been 108degrees and 90% humidity here in Oklahoma, absolutley misserable.
While there's dieback around, most of the trees have died because of bushfires back in 2003 and 2019. Snow gums are very slow to grow back - you can see a lot of younger trees growing up at the moment but the bush is going to take a very long time to recover in the worst-affected areas.
Why you put the reflexive mat facing down is there advantage to that way cheers
Enjoyed it! Hope all is will with the new little one. Been going back and watching the old videos I must have missed.
Brilliant video. I didn’t even consider that we had snow camping in Australia. Also, Nemo have a lifetime warranty for defects, which your sleeping pad may have. “Maybe” if Nemo can’t find where it is leaking, that it’s on them. 🤷🏻♂️ I think you take it back to the store you bought it from.
Awesome up there mate, love it.
To you and all the other RUclipsrs, STOP SAYING "GUYS". You are already talking to us, we know that. Go back through every post you have made, delete "guys" and ask yourself if "guys" made any difference. Thank me later.
If you made that fire closer to the the rocks you could have sat on them and enjoyed it!
Happy for you that you got a cold beer, I would have had to carry a half a D!
How does lighting a fire on snow work- sorry im so ignorant but doesnt all the ice melt and put it out?
\
Awesome vid mate. We're moving from the Top End to the ACT next year, def gonna give this a crack next winter. Cheers bruh.
I'm over the other side in the south west.. no snow here, just pisses it down.. HARD! Love your trip there Scotty! Do you prefer bivvy camping or hammock?
I liked the snowy camping trip. Have you thought of doing a starlapse (like in ruclips.net/video/CDC-RRa3TtI/видео.html at about 18mins). Would have really added to the spectacle of being so far remote out.
brilliant stuff scotty, loved it, cheers
I live in QLD . The snowy mountains is my dream holiday.. Still to get there. What with Covid and closures and now bad weather. So much water in NSW. I was hoping to get there for the last 3 years.. getting tired of waiting..
Another awesome camping trip. Man your country never disappoints. On a side note.. about a year or so I inquired about your Akubra. Picked up a Banjo Paterson today! Thanks for the tip and the shows Scotty.
Winter wonderland ❄❄❄⛄🌨⛄love it!!, I'd love to do that🤗👍👏👏💘
Lovely video Scotty
Let's have another when your able.
One question why light a fire in the snow and not on the rock? Is there a risk of exploding rocks when hot?
Watching from Britain its a great way to see how diverse and beautiful your outback can be. Keep them coming mate.
Phwoar, what a spot! I'm a Qlder who is more or less obsessed with snow haha. But I haven't been snow camping yet.
Top video mate! Love it!!
Lucked out with the weather! Every time I head up the Snowies it's blowing a gale
Glad you found a good weather window and finally got to try snow camping mate! Nothing beats the silence and those unearthly colours at dawn and dusk hey? Great video mate!
Thanks mate. I got very lucky to have perfect weather on the Friday. Nothing beats a sunny day in the snow. And yeah mate, the colours at sunset were unreal! Can't wait to head back.
Mate you said it. Froth levels (or frothels, as I heard it. Lol) through the roof. My frothels would be bursting through that perfect blue sky... This type of camping has been a dream of mine for ages. I should just set a plan and go do it.
Amazing!! My favourite vid so far. Awesome stuff Scotty. My dad and I love living through your videos.
I just got back from a little trip myself! Mount howit and moroka gorge!
Dear friend, this is Shirley from Aostirmotor E-bike. We are looking for some ebike reviews, are you interested in cooperating with us?
Another great video, love the snow, I have camped out at Lithgow in the snow, not as cold as where you camped but still cold enough for snow. I only camped in a swag but loved it.
I have to turn down the volume, the music grates on me (honest feedback). Would love yours vids much more without any music. Looked like a great trip!
very stunning views !!!! layering is the best way to goin winter
Rather than virtue signalling at the start perhaps just don't go trampling all over Aboriginal country!
Thank you for bringing us places we'll never see in person. Love the videos, keep them coming. For God's sake man get a new pad.
Starts a fire directly on the snow
"Hardest fire I've ever had to light"
Jk helluva job bro. But seriously as other people have mentioned, either scrape the snow away or don't but put a thick layer of branches under where you're tryna start the fire. Cheers
I was once corrected by a Polish mate Kosciuszko - Kos-chew-sko 😎
Where did you start from, as in did you take Ski tube or drive to Guthega? I always wanted to head out to Blue Lake someday for a camping mission.
You guys go spend 1 night/morning in the woods and eat the same as I would eat in 3-4 days. 😵💫🤣🤣
Hey Scotty, how are you liking your titanium pan?
I'm trying to reduce the weight of my bag, all my stuff is stainless steel at the minute.
I can see that you have a stainless bottle and a titanium pan, is there any particular reason for this?
Thanks in advance!
