I spent $152K on my McLaren 570GT and did NOT get a PPI. I'm now in my 4th year of ownership and 17K miles later it has turned out to be one of the most reliable cars I've ever owned. I do 800+ mile days several times a year in it no problem. I skipped the PPI because I am the 2nd owner and the original owner was an NFL player who got everything dealer serviced.
Seriously tho, if youre buying a car, any pricepoint. Look closely at the brand of the tyres. Doesnt matter what car it is you are buying, if the car comes with budget tyres then the seller have avoided putting money into the car.
Its insane ppl selling cars take like 6 pics with barely a description..absolute fckn idiots. Would never buy a car from people like that. Doug is right, its all about the owner.
So true, I bought a pristine 2004 Pontiac GTO with 2,300 miles on it and I had to put $4,000 into it to make it roadworthy. Brake issues, new tires and a small electrical issue.
As a mechanic and an auto shop owner, I highly disagree with his comment about the PPI is not being worthwhile. The trick is you gotta find a mechanic you trust where ever it is You’re buying the car. So do a little Google searching for mechanics in that area and make sure they have decent reviews and call them first, ask the service writer how many PPI is a month they do. Even asked them what kind of cars they specialize in. Due diligence is an invaluable skill
I believe thats exactly why he dont recommend PPI. Its a lot of work and if you cant find the right one at the right moment it can be useless. Its a 50/50.
The rule of thumb for just about ANY exotic/luxury/supercar is go by the maintenance history/ownership over miles, its crazy how dependable some supercars can be even from some of the least reliable seeming brands if the car is always properly serviced (not every car tho, like 90% of people getting a used range rover are gonna have a ton of issues anyway)

Buy the service history, not the mileage.
Great to hear you're enjoying your car
you basically been lucky lol

All these bots in the comments trying to push Adaxum. Don't fall for it guys
If you fall for that you deserve to get scammed.
I dunno, sounds pretty convincing to me. When’s the last time heard of someone getting scammed from crypto?
Most sellers can't be bothered to take proper pics, or give good details in their car listings, to the point where it blows my mind.

He said First of all you should go to Cars and Bids LOL 🤣😆
I just recently noticed this trend of "should of" people online. It wasn't like that about 10 years ago. What happened?

Love seeing Doug on this show after I just watched Vegas Matt.
Assume nothing and remember the sellers are always lying to a degree!
This is sound advice and why I don’t buy from dealers, they don’t actually know what they’re selling. I want to hear the real owners story
Doug hit the nail on the head!
If you use should of, could of, would of or might of, you're an idiot and I wouldn't anything from you!
Three cheers for literacy!
What does PPL mean
It’s PPI, pre purchase inspection.
Never noticed Dougies lisp before
First make sure you can afford the car and the upkeep/maintenance!
