    Lol!!!! Once freed from the prepared starting position, Alpha IMMEDIATELY started playing different moves than the human grandmaster played before.
    This is one of the reasons why some of Stockfish's wins over Alpha are bogus; they are making Alpha play garbage openings that it hates (like the French and Sicilian Najdorf; Alpha has decided these are bad and won't willingly play them, but Alpha is being forced to play them anyway)...
    Alpha immediately going in another direction from what the humans set up in this game makes me believe that Alpha doesn't like this opening/starting position either.

    Wonderful, yesterday Suren showed a game where stockfish simply crushed Alpha zero by offering to sac its queen, rook and everything. Alpha failed to handle this and resigned on only move 22. Yes, you read it right, Alpha zero resigned. Don't skip that game.

    I wait for the day when Alpha will be able to inconspicuously hack into Stockfish's algorithm and alter SF play in a way that will allow Alpha to win spectacularly, through unbelievably complex combinations.

    • @AstralS7orm

      Nah, SF is pretty well written. What it might find is some way to exploit Stockfish's defensive and reactive style.

  • @preparedsurvivalist2245
    @preparedsurvivalist2245 5 лет назад

    Alpha seems to keep available two separate ideas, one being pushing his center pawn, and the other creating a menacing mate threat on the corner square. Stockfish then needs to calculate these lines simultaneously, which is an daunting task. In the end alpha holds for a slight material advantage which will be winning in the end game. That is how a stronger engine grinds out a win with computing power.

    I think what I most enjoy about these games is how I often naturally intuit some of Alpha Zero's moves, but I can't exactly explain why.. It sees the moves that I do, but it knows why it will make them as I don't necessarily. Brilliant games

    it's amazing to see how alphazero chose to keep the bishop pair after the opening, while stockfish chose the knights. stockfish's knight was not very strong in the end, while the bishop pair ended up winning the game for alphazero.

    I would be very interested in seeing a line at 9:10 where black queen captures on h8 because you can’t simply block that check with rook or queen because then queen captures with check mate, so white queen would have to recapture but then rook to f7 would come with an attack on the other white rook and stop queen from checking on d5, plus queen would be trapped on the first row for the moment because if she moves then either rook to the first row would be checkmate. I’d be interested to see how it ends up playing out or if I missed something that would lead to a white checkmate.

    • @ACR96
      @ACR96 Год назад

      Hey 4 years later, if black tries to defend checkmate with something like Qe5, then white can just play Qh7 checkmate!

  • @richd9683

    The commentary often is "... Alpha didn't like that, so it found another move" Which makes me wonder, how far ahead does it see? Does it really reach a position, then says, "hmmm... I changed my mind, my previous plan doesn't look so good, I need to find another idea."

    9:11 Actually you can avoid Qh8# but it's obviously still a forced mate for White: Qxh1+ Qxh1 (threatens Qh7#) Rf1+ Qxf1 (threatens mate in 2 with Qf7+ then Qg7#) Rc1+ Qxc1 and now there is nothing against Qc8#. There are similar lines with Rc1+ and Rf1+ first or Qe1+.
