- New Bern, North Carolina's Tryon Palace is a mansion that was formerly called Governor's Palace and was the official residence and administrative headquarters of the British governors of North Carolina from 1770 to 1775. Located in New Bern, NC the palace was often at the center of state occasions and hospitality. The residence was seized by American Patriot troops in 1775. Shortly after the state capital was relocated to Raleigh in 1792. The palace garden span 16 acres and are marvelous.Today, the palace is a state historic site. #northcarolina #colonial #travelguide #historicalplaces

Beautiful tour around the palace. The garden and lawns are well maintained. I like the interior decorations and vintage furnitures. Beautiful hedges in the garden and the vines covering the arches. Definitely a must see when in North Carolina. Have a great weekend!

When you first showed us a glimpse of the palace, I was impressed. Looks like a great place to take a tour and I always like when the tour guides dress in the clothing of the time period. The inside what just beautiful looking, but the gardens and grounds were also fantastic too.

The Tyron Palace is beautiful and so is the town. It makes you wonder how they handled the heat back in the day without air conditioning. The Civil War encampment replica was really interesting. Its lights now, but it might have been part of a tunnel system in its hay day. What great information. Love the time period dress of the docents. The gardens are really pretty.

We have never been to Tryon Palace even though we now live in the same state it is located in. I have heard of this place numerous times. So it was cool to actually get to see it. I love the gardens especially! But the historic old buildings were fascinating to explore as well. Thanks for showing us this place! We will have to make it out there in person someday.
New Bern is a very historical place. We might be retiring there.

Wow, so elegant. I love the colonial buildings around here with the gardens so beautifully manicured. Sounds like a worthwhile tour. Good point on the availability of air conditioning especially for people who are more sensitive to the heat.
