    I'm very new to rhinestone application, but since I didn't have any rhinestone glue I used Loctite. And wow, it has worked so well!!

    Thank you for the great advice, I also find the E6000 very stringy at times and can mess up a garment really fast, I also use now the Aleenes Jewel it glue, very strong, cleaner and fast to apply.

    Hi Meghan - love your channel! For the Amazon Jollin brand stones, what is the difference between "transparent AB" and "crystal AB"? Which would you recommend for a tumbler and a mask? Thanks!

    • @MeghanGraceDIY
      @MeghanGraceDIY  4 года назад +3

      Firstly thank you! To answer your question, the crystal ab stones that are transparent will have no silver backing, and thus the color of whatever you are putting them on with show through the stone. A regular crystal ab has a silver backing on the stone, giving the stone a white appearance with the rainbow "ab" coating on top. Transparent will blend into your project more, and the regular crystal ab will give you more pop and sparkle. Hopefully that answers your question!

      It holds up ok - since making this video e6000 has improved their formula and it doesn’t stink as much so that’s my go to now! E6000 holds up great through wear and washing!

    Hi Meghan! I’m drafting a dress and want to add flat backed pearls to various layers of tulle. Do you have any glue recommendations? I’m afraid that the glue will dissolve the fabric 😕

    • @MeghanGraceDIY
      @MeghanGraceDIY  3 года назад +6

      Definitely don’t use E6000, I have heard that can dissolve fabric. Since you are doing tulle, I would recommend getting hot fix stones if possible. Hot fix requires a tool to heat up the stone or pearl to melt the glue on the back, but it’s much cleaner than using a glue bottle. Since you will see the glue on the back, I think that’s your best way to go!

    Hi Meghan. For my first ever DIY project, I'm making a 4 inch wooden frame for a 6' by 3' mirror. I primed, painted it with a metallic water-based paint by PPG, and applied a polyurethane finish. I want the mirror to have a crystal fade pattern going from the top down. Do you have any recommendations for what kind of glue I should use?

    • @MeghanGraceDIY
      @MeghanGraceDIY  3 года назад +2

      Oooooo what a fun project!! I’m going to recommend e6000, just practice with it first since it has a difficult viscosity and can come out fast if it’s your first time working with it. Also since it seems like a larger project I would make sure to work in a ventilated area as that stuff has some serious fumes to it! Tag me in a picture when you are done I would love to see the finished product!!

    Ah! I'm so l
    Glad I found your videos!! Super helpful! I have a couple of questions. It looks like you bought Jollin's hot fix crystals but you use Aileen's to glue them. Does that cause any issues with adhering? I have Gem-Tac already, would that be just as good as Aileen's? My 1st project is to fix a pair of black Rhinestone heels that I'm wearing for a photoshoot, so I am unsure of how to properly adhere the new stones.
    Thank you!! ❤

    • @MeghanGraceDIY
      @MeghanGraceDIY  3 года назад +2

      Yes I have used glue on hot fix stones, I’ve never found it to make a difference - sometimes the hot fix ones are cheaper! If you are doing shoes I would strongly recommend e-6000, since the shoes will be bending and moving, that will give you the best hold to the show material!

      With the aileens jewel it, you can hand wash with cold water. With the e6000 it holds up pretty well to the washing machine but I would still use cold water. With hot water you run the risk of melting the glue and it getting goo all over your garment/project, as well as losing some stones!

      Im not 100% sure what your working with, but if its a tassle Im going to say it needs to be handsewn. Silk is very light so something may just be too heavy for it in which case I would recommend a smaller tassle or a heavier weight fabric (like a silk dupioni)
