We had geese like these on our farm growing up. I always played with them as soon as they would come from the hatchery and they would imprint on me. I would have so much fun walking around the farm with a trail of geese following me
Wow that's awesome! I have a question then. When they grew up and paired up, did their behaviours change like Sam's did? I'm curious to see whether it was adulthood, or that she is an adult female and being wary of other males while around Todd (even human lol) or if it's because Margaret isn't there to remind her how good scritches are... What are your thoughts on this, oh Geese Leader? Lol 😊
I've had a very very rough year, both medically, academically, and romantically (haha) for me already, and I just want to extend a sincere thank you for posting such peaceful and happy videos. I've been trying to get to know my neighborhood cats (where I live they have to TnR them so the population remains in control for neighborhoods) and just yesterday one climbed into my lap and sat down for a while. I started crying. Connection with animals, especially wild ones, is so special.
@Vic This year has been tough for me, too. Too many problems to mention. You are not alone in your situation. I think these videos help us all. I hope your year gets better. I hope mine does, too. Best of luck to you.
@@secoTheSonicFan That is usually my strategy as well, actually I have a video of me doing just that with the new goose to the pond last season : ruclips.net/video/VE3KQ1Hd9iY/видео.html
I went to see the birds at my city’s big pond because of your videos of Sam and his little flock. My city is in a migratory path, so there were lots of wild ducks and geese along with the domesticated breeds that live there year round. My mom loved the Canadian Geese who were much more gentle than the internet had led us to believe (they wanted to be hand fed and one bit my hand trying to eat before I could put some on the ground but it was v gentle so maybe they weren’t wild after all) while I loved the ducks that stayed in the water (some fancy ones had little feather poofs like hats!). You helped me a lot with the calmness and example of how to act, I had developed some agoraphobia because of covid but you and Sam gave me the inspiration to go out anyway. Thank you so much!
Canadian geese are primarily aggressive when they lay eggs. Those Geese will rather aggressively protect their territory near their nest. And they aren't afraid of anything lol.
I just discovered this channel today and now I just keep wondering where I went wrong in my life. Happiness truly resides in the little things in life, thanks for sharing these videos!
This has to be one of the most fascinating videos I've ever seen on RUclips. Thank you for sharing this and the other videos. I wish more people were this appreciative of nature.
It's amazing to me that you can tell them apart. After wondering why I had a goose video keep being recommended to me for weeks, I finally get it. This is a seriously relaxing corner of RUclips I've found today, thanks for these videos.
Thanks for sharing all your lovely videos of these beautiful geese! What an amazing privilege to be accepted and trusted by them. Animals are usually good judges of a persons character. Such a great compliment they have given you! Samantha remains my favourite! She has the cutest waddle! I hope you continue to post, your commentary on the birds is enjoyable.
@@CS-zn4bu oh I meant babies like small little bundles of bird, not like human babies, haha. Trust me, I know exactly how smart lil geese and ducks are!
Came across your videos in my recommended only to realize that these are the Sullivan’s pond geese and that I live right by here! They are such a treat to have around, can’t wait to see them back in the spring! 😄
Very beautiful video my friend.Loved watching the geese and ducks waddling towards you.Must admit the geese are gorgeous and I’ve seen other videos where they don’t like ducks, guess they feel a bit superior 😄🦆💜
Great memories at this pond, my grandmother took me here all the time as a child, I also took my high school girlfriend here on sunny days to relax, hopefully I can take my kids there one day.
I made friends with a domestic goose that was likely dumped at my local pond, and she was so cute. Named her Sweety Pie. She'd hang out at my feet and loved cracked corn and disliked other ducks. She somehow befriended a lone Canadian goose who stayed the winter with her (which they don't do) and that goose was very sweet and timid. Called him Solo, and he'd hide from the other ducks under my feet. I've loved geese ever since those two and their crew of other likely domestic dumped ducks.
This is such a beautiful and peaceful life. I would give up video games to just wake up to ducks, geese and other waterfowl go about their daily lives.
These birds are beautiful. I can spend a week at this place just feeding and admiring nature. Are these geese or swans? We don't have swans in the Caribbean and I can't ever recall seeing geese (but I think we have them here). Chickens, ducks and pigeons are quite popular.
What a stately procession approaches you! I was sorry to hear that Margaret moved on--I had learned to ID her. Do they leave for the season and return? And the idea of an all-out goose war sounds ghastly! I wish creatures would get along. My main hen is asserting her dominance of the flock, and it's distressing when she pecks her sisters.
Appearance more than behavior believe it or not, but yes. The noises and way they act do come into it, despite their shallow gene pool if you spend enough time around them you can start to notice differences in their appearance as well.

Genuinely curious how you befriended a flock of geese.
Very carefully. Crouching makes them less intimidated by you, but it also puts your face in beak range.
