I noticed aftermarket parts catalogs don't list the Standard very often. I usually look up the Street Bob for parts since they're basically the same bike but blacked out. I'm curious what the production figures of the Standard were from 2020 to 2022.

I couldn’t find any numbers for individual unit sales, total units for 2022 were 117, 000 I’d estimate 10-15% were FXST’s. But yeah using a street bob in search will lead you to proper fit parts for sure.

It’s just shocking to me how easily and readily Harley Davidson will axe a bike rather than try to make it more appealing to potential customers. The fact that people went for the street Bob over the standard simply means that the standard is way too damn expensive for what you get. Besides, now it can’t compete with the nightmare bike for price. So even more people will be buying the street Bob over the Harley Davidson rebel 975. Which is also drastically overpriced. Harley, like all bike companies are in trouble. This generation of younger folks are very risk averse and have no interest in bikes and very little interest in cars. Unfortunately, Harley has become a t-shirt company that sells Grandpa Bikes. They lost any claim to performance to the Brit Bikes in the 1960's and then Honda etc. crushed them by 1970. Because of their inability to attract younger riders (the average Harley rider is well over 55) they will perish before the other makers. They continue to miss the mark with their Sportster S for example. No younger rider would even consider one, over a far better performing sport bike (even if they could afford one). And yes I'm an old guy who has ridden just about everything from drag bikes to mopeds.

@@risby1930 gross profit has risen in double digits on lower unit sales figures under the current hardwired strategy. Gross profit dollars are higher than previous years. Can Harley be bought? Yes they are publicly traded and 22% stake ownership gets you a seat at the boardroom table. VW bought Ducati and Lamborghini, they could buy Harley. Royal Enfield hired a bunch of former HD executives from the previous regime, they could be a player. Harley is large enough to withstand a 10x earnings buyout, that would be a $53 billion dollar deal, Honda maybe could make that offer. Maybe.

Enfield's management has certainly pushed the company forward in the last few years, so maybe those old
Harley guys have done well for the company. I know Harley was once pitched to Honda, but my understanding was it wasn't a good fit at the time, so it never got very far. The problem with Harley is they don't have products outside of bikes to take up the slack when luxury items are not purchased. Unlike all the bikes (we don't get in the U. S.) that are used for transportation across the world that are not for pleasure. Having lived in Europe and Asia there is a huge market for 250cc bikes (it's very expensive to own anything larger, because of insane taxes once you pass the 250cc size). Enjoy your channel an ride safe.

@@risby1930 thank you! Also big thanks for commenting and sharing your thoughts. HD has decided to partner with China OEM’s just as BMW, KTM and Triumph have for smaller CC bike offerings. It is my understanding HD will release a 352cc for Asia via this China vendor next year.

If Harley wants to appeal to millennials and gen z they need to lower their prices. I'm a millennial born in 85' and I have loved Harley Davidson my whole life. My father and everyone he knew had a customized Harley. I bought a used 2001 sportster about 10 years ago because I couldn't afford a new one. I just got hit by a car two weeks ago and it's probably going to get totaled. Now I'm at this point in my life im making really good money. I like to get a new street bob. I still can't afford one they cost way too much. Between mortgage, bills and stuff for the kids. There's no way. Other motorcycle manufacturers are selling their bikes way cheaper for better performing options. That's why they are losing gen z and millennials.

It took me from 2008 until 2020 to save up enough money to pay for my sportster plus riding gear and accessories for cash out the door. I hear you. Luckily Harley owns two banks so if have $3k you can take a Street Bob home, even with a marginal credit rating. It’s easier to finance than a used bike. However if you can pay cash for it it will save you in the long run. 2018-2019 street bobs are $11-$13k with no extra fees like new bikes perhaps consider one of those and get the anilator mag wheels and a tank paint job later on if your really into the 2022 look of the FXSB.

@@KennyQuestShow in my area the Milwaukee 8 street bobs are 16k even used. Dyna street bobs are over 14k. That's still about $300 a month for something that is a luxury item and I can only ride part of the year. Just saying that's why Harley is losing younger customers.

@@blg020 that’s why for my big twin purchase I bought used and what I could afford $5k for a Softail. A 02 FXDT can be found for $8k a EVO sport glide for $6k. Ride what you can afford. Harley is always gonna be a premium

It ain't the new generation bud... Gen Z here... born in 2000... younger than al millennials... owned 5 harleys 4 of em carbed... being only 22, i cant afford a 20 thousand dollar bike alongside having a decent car... is what it is... harley is targeting the older crowd with their pricing... you dont see people my age spending more than 10 grand on a bike... the average motorcycle rider age is going up fast.... young people aren't even buying bikes... as for the hipsters, they are doing more to save classic harleys than the older generation... the hipsters i know love and cherish old ironheads and shovels and keeping em alive... is what it is
