It's hands down one of the easiest, coolest EVA template methods ive ever seen. I love how detailed the templates are with what size foam to use and how many pieces there are alongside video tutorials on how to build it.. absolutely amazing. Will deffo be purchasing more!!
I’ve just finished the base of my helmet by following your previous video. I love having a video tutorial to follow along with since this is my first home made cosplay!
This is a great build. I'm building a 3D printed one but didn't like the rear vents so I'm making new ones from EVA. I didn't know you could use Graphite Powder that way. You might benifit from looking for urethane based automotive paint as it is designed for the bumpers and other more flexible areas of a car and does not tend to crack over time on EVA.
A very awesome build, young man. I'm very impressed. I hope I can make a Mando helmet looking as amazing as yours. Two suggestions for future videos, if I may. I'm no expert, but I think better lighting and perhaps a light colored cutting mat to help us see better what you are doing would be very helpful. It was a bit hard to see, especially with the black foam. Keep up the awesome work and let us see more of your amazing creations! Thank you for sharing with us!
Would love to see how you do Lukes Xwing pilot helmet. Has always been my favorite costume I know it’s not Star Wars but with the new Guardians of the Galaxy movie coming out I think a Starlord helmet would be cool as well.
This is an awesome build. What is the best way to buy bulk foam? I am wanting to work on the mandalorian armor but buying single foam sheets seems expensive.
Cool, I would say watch as many tutorial videos as you can from good prop makers and cosplayers such as Kamui Cosplay, Punished Props, Evil Ted, Adam Savage and many others.
I bought your clone armor templates in September, and I've been wanting to start making it but haven't had the time space and money I have some of the foam so I can make some of it once I have space
What type of EVA do you use? I’ve watched you slice this stuff on an angle and it goes through it like a solid material. The stuff from Michael’s seems to just crush. Even with a brand new blade. Amazing templates and work. I have the original helmet that I’m working on now.
Since you used spray primer & gloss rustoleum spray paints; that would make this helmet technically no longer flexible right? Usually in my experience; these spray cans usually are not flexible at all so if something were to accidentally hit the helmet; it would leave cracks that cant be fixed.
By using this combination of products, the helmet becomes much more rigid, but still has a bit of flex in case it gets dropped. The brands of paint I used have just a bit of flexibility after drying, enough so the helmet doesn't crack unless it gets hit really hard.
this looks amazing. does graphite give it its color or just its shine? that is, if I wanted a brassier color, could I do a goldish basecoat and still use the graphite? or is the graphite going to make it chrome colored no matter what?
Thanks! The graphite will affect the color, but it is not completely opaque. A black base coat will give a darker finish than a grey one. Try experimenting with a red, orange, brown or gold base coat. Each will give a slightly different look.
Very nice! Bought it straight away! One question and some feedback though - Could you post a link to the welding visor and pin it or edit your video description? And the feedback - Better lighting. It was hard to see what you were doing sometimes
I agree! I like the templates. They are great. The instructions are very clear, but the video is really dark!! Please invest on some lights on top of your desk and maybe on the back of your camera as well. Filming in a dark corner and handling black pieces is unfortunately quite difficult to see 😅Otherwise, thank you very much for this!
So I started working on the project today and was wondering why you cut the visor when the helmet was already assembled. Could you not just cut it before you assembled it or was there a reason for it? Thanks.
If you cut the visor before assembly, the straight lines of the visor will become curved and crooked because of the tension you have to put on the parts to stick them together.
@@TristanMaker makes sense, thanks for the clarification. I’m using the exact tools and materials as you are so hopefully I get a similar result to yours!
I'm from Canada so I get my foam from True North Cosplay. If you live in the United States, I recommend getting it from TNT Cosplay Supplies or Blick Art Materials.
Purchased and waiting to make. I'm just filling and sanding down my phase 1 clone trooper helmet from your templates. After that, I can't wait to make Mando mark 2! I bought your previous Mando helmet template last year, but the filler primer I tried using apparently wasn't flexible, and the spray paint I used on top of it cracked. Oh well, can't wait to hopefully make a better one!
Awesome, thanks for your support! You can check out the sizing chart in the pictures of the listing on Etsy. Then when you find the scale that matches the kid's head size, watch the printing tutorial video linked in the product description on Etsy to print out the file.
So I may have just brought the helmet to match the mando armour, which I brought by mistake meaning to by Boba Fett armour, but this is not a complaint. Great video support, looking forward to making a start on a Mando :) Will come back to my planned Cobb Vanth another day, this is the way...
I have a question about the dome trim piece. I'm using floor mat material that has the diamond metal pattern ,the little cris cross, does the 5mm piece go on top of the 8mm or the bottom? Also the clip didn't show registration line on the trim piece then next clip it has them on any tips on how to put registration lines on this piece thanks
So the dome trim piece... you cut one piece on the 8mm then the same piece on the 5mm then glue together right? Then you score the inner rectangle lines. Do I have that right?
Hello there. I watched all of the videos, i’ve planned, and i’ve gotten the templates and foam. However, i have a small question. What would you do to decrease the amount of time needed to make it? I only have about 5 weeks until I need to get it finished. Any thoughts that might help me save time?
Thanks for using my templates! I would build the armor as cleanly as possible and skip filling the seams. As for the paint, just apply 3 coats of Modpodge, sand the last coat, apply 1 coat of gloss black and 1 coat of chrome spray paint. I hope this helps!
Hi there! I bought your Mando Template at the end of January and am about halfway through the build. Is the new template significantly changed from that one? Edit: NVM I watched the video and it is 😄. Looking forward to trying this one- keep up the great work!
You could totally do that but the line won't be as wide. You can also make a V cut into the foam or cut out that strip of foam and glue it back in 2mm lower.
is it just me, or does the old one look more accurate? at least on the dome part, I think the visor and the "cheekbones" are more accurate on the new one, but it looks like the helmet kinda curves up into the crest on the top of the helmet where the first one is much mour rounded. I think a combination of the two would be perfect
Hey, I am builindg the helmet but I'm confused on the different coats of paint and products you used, should I use grey gloss spray paint or a clear coat?
Awesome video! Great tutorial! Just one question, on the long piece that goes on top of the helmet that says “13mm (8 + 5mm Pieces)” how is that supposed to work? Is the outline on 8mm and the smaller inside box on 5mm?
Check out the sizing chart in the pictures of the listing on Etsy. If you match the scaling to your head size, you'll have enough room inside the helmet.
Hi, I'm really sorry about that. The listing should be back on a couple of days max. Etsy automatically removes listings sometimes to check them and make sure the seller and product are legit. I received an email today from them and they said they are working to hey my listing back online soon. Thank you for your understanding :)
This is such a cool Mando helmet!! I'm thinking of making my own custom helmet this year but I want to paint it a different colour, am I able to paint over the Eva foam or when will be the best time to apply paint in your helmet making process :)) Thank you for this lovely helmet video!
Thanks! You can seal the foam with 3 coats of Plastidip or Modpodge and then paint the helmet however you want. Acrylic paint and spray paint will work.
This is soooo cool but I only see one problem. The visor shield…I’ve been a welder before and unless you got that spark going you can’t see ANYTHING!!!
Thanks! The visor I used is a grinding shield, not one for welding. You can see really well through this one just like with sunglasses. (It's just that even on Amazon it's called a "welding shield")
Could the visor be cut out before the helmet is assembled, so that the faceplate could be recut in case of any errors? Or is it important that it be cut out after assembled?
The visor is cut after assembly to keep it from flexing too much and get a perfect fit on both sides. If you cut it before it could bend and get you a wobbly visor. Hope it helps you
I’m planning on using your technique for painting on my own Mandalorian armor, just a few questions though. Do you need to use the exact products used in the video?

Wow I was just- looking for something starter friendly- And I came across this masterpiece? Damn I want one.
Dude I am really impressed you have done an excellent job it looks screen ready
how many sheets of each foam do you reccomend buying for this project? just bought the pattern and can't wait to get started
All of them
Damn that’s skill man
the full atreides armor could be a cool project for the future
Very talented, my friend! Great video!
Thank you! :)
That's incredible!! You should make some Gondorian armour and a helmet for normal Gondor foot soldiers!!
What is the average price of materials you’d say? I’d love to get into the hobby but I’m not sure how much I need how much it’ll cost of anything
That EE-3 Blaster though.
WOW!! I had been looking for an exact tutorial and templates for this helmet. Thanks
No problem, have fun crafting! :)
That is a thing of beauty!
This definetly is the way. Great work! 🔥
Thanks!

Thanks a lot!
Very impressive. 👍👍👍
Amazing Mando helmet! Bought the pattern instantly and can't wait to start working on it. One question though where can I get the visor?
Cool! The visor is a tinted welding shield from Amazon.
That helmet looks like the actual helmet they used in the show
Thank you! :)
Awesome,great work
Great work sir!
Very nice
Well done
Thanks!

Nice job! I’m working on making a helmet as well, as long as a RUclips video lol, it turned out really nice!
Cool! Thank you!
And for the painting/graphite step… are you applying graphite powder after paint has dried or while it is a little wet still?
I let the paint dry for 1 to 2 hours depending on how thick it was applied. So it's still a bit tacky
This is the way
Looks totally legit
Great template!
Thanks!

Will there be moff gideon beskar armour and helmet tutorial
6:34 do you use contact cement to get it to stay together?

Thanks! You can find rotary tools for 20-30$ on Amazon and they work just like the expensive ones. That's my best recommendation

@Tristan Maker thank you will do!!
Amazing work, at the and of the painting process is it still flexible?
Hi there, I’m a bit confused with what the “clear coat” is at 9:45
Is it the gloss spraypaint or something else?
The clear coat is the clear gloss spray paint I apply over the matte dark grey paint.
@@TristanMaker I see. Thanks for responding!

The 5mm part is on top of the 8mm one. I simply traced the registration lines from the template.
@@TristanMaker that makes more sense I put it on the bottom after I get rid of those diamond cross marks and it didn't work thanks
What would be the best way to achieve the shine/reflective look from the graphite while adding a new colour
So the dome trim piece... you cut one piece on the 8mm then the same piece on the 5mm then glue together right? Then you score the inner rectangle lines. Do I have that right?
Yes, that's exactly it.

What about a metal coating over the foam?

Hey Tristan! At 6:00 if we don't have a wood burner does scoring it with the box cutters work to achieve the same results? and heat sealing it.

Can you do a Sabrine Wren helmet?

Wow!
All your templates are amazing! This man deserved so many more subs!
okay cool and all but I need a tutorial for how to obtain and forge a beskar mandolarian helmet
What thickness of Eva foam and would you recommend where to buy for cheap, I'm new to cosplay and have a very small budget
Great!)) Which foam i need? 55 shor, 35?
I don't know about 35 or 55 shor foam, as I buy my foam from cosplay shops. I use medium and high density foam.

Yes, no issues

3:26 is it necessary to have contact cement? And if not, what can I replace it with?
For a project with complex curves like this, contact cement is very recommended. Hot glue works but won't give you clean seams.

Would 10mm foam be too big of a jump? It’s all my local craft store Carries currently 😓
Where’s a good place to order foam for the build?
So the faceplate piece has a curve when tracing, to when you heat form it, it flares out toward the bottom. How come it is designed to flare out?

Hi, I can't find SprayMax Clear Glamour, at my place. Could you suggest for another option to replace it please?
You can simply use any gloss clear coat as a base for the graphite. Just make sure not to use it over the graphite as it will ruin the finish.

Not at all, products from other brands should work just fine.
@@TristanMaker Alright thanks!
How do you know how to cut 40° and 10° so those edges line up?
You can do it approximatively by eye as foam is a forgiving material. It might require a bit of practice on scrap pieces of foam first.
