Have you thought about making a visor extension to the phase 2 clone helmet, like what Cody/Thorn have? Nice build, anyway. Looks a lot more proportional than some other foam Fett helmets I've seen!
This is a fantastic and very detailed tutorial and I want to buy these templates to make my own helmet but I don't like how the proportions look, is there anything I can do to make the proportions more like how the helmet looks in the series?
To use that gold paint more efficiently first pain the part yellow or orange with normal acrylic paints then apply the gold... Just 1 layer will get the perfect results... Nice helmet :D
Thanks! Unfortunately I don't know what product are available on Brazil but here are some options : plastidip, flexbond, epoxy resin and modpodge. For the paint itself, I'm sure you can find acrylic paint.
@TristanMaker would you mind sending me some templates please Tristan because it's my birthday tomorrow and I love making starwars costumes out cardboard and eva foam
Hi, simply watch the printing tutorial video linked in the product description on Etsy. All the information is there. You can also message me on Etsy if you have any issues with the templates.
The contact cement is what I recommend, especially for a helmet. Superglue will also work, but not as well. Hot glue can work in a pinch, but it won't be as sturdy.
Hi Tristan ! I love your videos. Could you indicate me a short list of filler products for the seems because I am living in italy and it is hard to find corresponding products... if you give me few names I can perhaps find at least one of them around here.
I'm from Canada so I get my foam from True North Cosplay. If you live in the United States, I recommend getting it from TNT Cosplay Supplies or Blick Art Materials.
Awesome! For helmets, low to medium density works best because of the compound curves on the dome. For armors or parts that don't need as much heat forming, medium to high density works great. Lower density is easier to work with but higher density is more durable. :)
@@TristanMaker legend thank you for the reply. I'm going to buy your template off Etsy. Super excited to get started now. May the force be with you ! I'll go for 45kg/m3 . Thanks again
@@houseofdyer yeah man agreed. I've bought all the plans from Etsy from Tristans store. I knew how thick but wanted to check the density as I couldn't see it on the plans I bought and it's the first thing I've ever built.
Great tutorial. Thanks! And this really helps on cost for sizing. Would you also have the helmet and beskar armor plate templates for the Mando Din version?
Hi, quick question. How do you make sure that the finished helmet will fit without making it and it being too big / small ? Is there a way to scale it to fit before printing out the templates ?
Yes, you can refer to the sizing chart located in the pictures of the listing on Etsy. Then, follow the printing tutorial video linked in the product description and enter the scale that fits your head size in the program.
@@TristanMaker wonderful! I hope in the future you'll do the Empire strikes back version too, really iconic, I think a lot of people will be interested ;)
A hairdryer doesn't get anywhere hot enough. As for hot glue, it is possible but you have to glue small sections at a time and hold the parts together while they dry.
Great build as always 👏🏻👌 because I I've been building that helmet myself for the last week's, I think it's interesting to see what techniques you were using for the different parts and shapes. I will definitely be looking forward to trying one of your techniques. I'm glad I found your channel. Keep up the great work!
@@TristanMaker youre welcome 🙃. But I have a question: What did you do to prevent your helmet from cracking after you applied the clear coat? Or was that an elastic clear coat spray? Or in general, after the modpodge why doesn't it crack? The modpodge isn't elastic, is it?
Modpodge is a PVA glue like wood glue but it is much more flexible. Not as flexible as plasti dip but still flexible enough for a helmet. And for the clear coat, it's just a normal clear coat from rust oleum. I found that when you apply it in 1 or 2 thin layers, it sticks really well to acrylic paint and stays just flexible enough to prevent cracking.
@@TristanMaker ah okay. I used wood glue but without water and acrylic. Maybe that's what caused the cracking. Next time I'll mix it like you did or use mod podge 🤔 I've used a clear coat one time but there it cracked.🤔 I think I just have to experiment a little bit to get the results I want. Thanks for your help ^^
Hello Great video I use cardbord for my costumes. Does card bord word with your templates? Please repli
Hi, thanks! Unfortunately the templates don't work with cardboard. Check out RJR Productions on RUclips. He made a Boba Fett helmet out of cardboard.
All your builds are insanely awesome 👏🏻 Have you thought of making a captain Rex helmet?
Thank you! I don't know if I'll make one since I already made so many trooper helmets, but maybe someday.
You can modify the phase 2 templates for Rex!

Thanks! That's a good idea, I'm thinking about making templates for the accessories for clone trooper helmet.
Thanks for including the tracing bit! There was some stuff I hadn’t figured out yet!
No problem! :)
hey! i was wondering how i print out the helmet template? its only printing the top left corner of the design
Simply watch the printing tutorial video linked in the product description on Etsy. All the information is there.
@@TristanMaker thanks!
can you make a clone Commando helmet?
I would love to make one but I have lots of projects to finish first. I'll add it to my list and maybe I'll get to make it! :)

Good trick, thanks!
Im currently working on this build, i have to work on making my cutts alot better but your tutorial is great.
Thanks! Don't hesitate to practice on scrap foam and to make the helmet a second time as you get better.
anyone else having trouble printing the templates to the right size?
You can watch the printing tutorial video linked in the product description on Etsy. You can also find it on my RUclips channel.
Will your Boba build be more like The Book of Boba Fett build or like the suit he has from The Mandalorian?
I think I'm gonna make the one from The Book of Boba
🤌🏼🤌🏼
Great job here, this method would also work with Sintra.
Thanks! Most pieces would work great with sintra, but the dome would have to be formed over a buck kind of like a vaccum formed piece.
awesome Job thx for sharing
Thanks! No problem!
Great project! Adding color to the mod podge is an awesome trick!!
Thank you!
Nice 👏👏
Thanks!
Tristan, como sempre arrasando ! Quais os materiais para pintura que posso substituir aqui no Brasil ?

From most of the helmets i’ve seen this is an easier one

Can you use white glue and water as an alternative for mod pudge? (It says in Google)
I don't recommend it as that won't flex with the foam, and it will end up cracking.
