I made a mistake calling this the first Wyze camera with 5ghz WiFi support, it's actually the 3rd after the Doorbell Pro and Floodlight Pro. But I still didn't notice a difference in performance between the two. Other camera brands I've been testing load much quicker so I know its not my internet connection.
I just installed my new Wyze Battery Cam Pro yesterday to monitor my vegetable garden, and it is super great! I am also using the solar panel to power it. The video quality is very crisp and the night vision is amazing. My only gripe with this camera is that it takes a while to pull up the live feed. The wifi connection seems quite strong, even though my router is 65 feet away on a windowsill. I have the Cam Plus Unlimited plan for all of my Wyze cameras. So far, I’m really impressed!
Totally agree with you. The courier just picked up mine today for a return. Not sure if my unit was faulty but the battery life was abysmal! It would drop 10 to 20% overnight with minimal use. The longest I could get the battery to last was almost 2 weeks. And yes, I've done all the things suggested by Wyze and still the problem persisted. Hence it has been returned and I have bought a Eufy Solo Cam in the meantime. Can't comment on its battery yet, but the video playback starts at lightspeed compared to the Wyze. I've got 3 Wyze cameras but there will be no more. Their constant nagging that I must get their service is too annoying and my experience with the Battery Cam has left a sour taste in my mouth.
Yeah, I’m in the exact same boat. The subscriptions for everything, not just Wyze, are driving me crazy.I like the idea of one less subscription, and a lot of my old Wyze cameras are starting to fail.
I agree with you. I’ve had Wyze cameras for 3 years now. They were cheap. So, I didn’t get too mad when they would go offline. I ordered this camera since it has the onboard memory storage. However, I didn’t realize it only records thumbnails of events and not video without the monthly subscription. That makes no sense to me. Why bother with the onboard storage? The other thing about it is that there is no way to completely turn off the siren. I found that I could make a Rule so it would not sound when motion is detected. But, it lets out a very fast siren burst before it catches itself. In the hour and a half of messing with the settings trying to figure out everything, the battery dropped 10 percent. I really wanted this to be the answer for a wireless camera. But, it just isn’t and will be sent back. On a side note, my absolute favorite Wyze purchase was the deadbolt door lock with key pad. It has been flawless with zero issues. Thanks for the review! I hope my comments help with someone else on the fence with buying one.
Recently my Wyze cams 3v have been acting up. I have to remove and reinstall the sd card once or twice a month because the cams say there isn’t one in.
How is it possible that the video quality is better on this Wyze 2K camera than their other 2K camera? What made the other one worse hardware wise? But if you have the Wyze Mess Router Pro, it is going to have the ability to store camera video via a memory card port, so you'll still have the ability to safely keep recordings in your home.
My battery went from 100% to 18% over night. I do not know why but not sure this should be possible regardless of whatever settings its on. I just got it so still trying to figure it out. Overall, initial impressions - I wish I had spent my money elsewhere.
@@c0nbr0chill yes I did. The problem was using the spot light function when it detected motion. The problem is it detected motion from shadows and plants moving all night so the spot light was constantly going off. That's what I think anyway. Kinda useless
I am also a long time user of Wyze cameras. I absolutely refuse to subscribe to their Cam+ plans. I am also super annoyed by all their attempts to get me signed up. The cameras are pretty cheap indeed, but they fail a lot too.
I’ve been testing the Eufy Solar Cam light for the past couple of days and should have a review in the next week or two. For the price I like it more than the battery pro so far.
Almost $100 bucks hahaha and only 2K. To make it “mount and forget” It will cost you another $24 for a solar panel to charge the battery. As If you run up and down a ladder every week to change the battery 😂😂

Yes, I'd like to see the head 2 head comparison that you mention.
I will get something put together over the next couple of weeks!

CamPlus unlimited is probably the best way to go. It just sucks to have to think that prices could go up anytime.

I ultimately ended up returning mine as well for the same reason. Thanks for watching!
This is by far the best unbiased review I've seen on this camera out there. Thank you for this review!! 🙏
I’m glad it was helpful!
Nice job Mike. I’ve also been using Wyze for years and interested in the head to head comparison. 👍
Thanks! I’ll get something put together right after the Eufy review.
@@MichaelVance Is it coming out yet, the comparison?
I’ve been thinking about dropping Wyze all together and going with Eufy

Yes, please…. Would love a head-to-head comparison with the Eufy.
Very honest. Very good review.
Thank you, I appreciate the feedback!
Thanks man I almost bought it tonight but watched this 1st
Thanks for watching. I wish the camera worked better without a subscription.
Supports local SD storage now. Should have from the start though.
Great review!

Does this cam gix the issues with Alexa not playing well with Wyze. Ive suffered thru the v2 reg cam & its hourly fits with Alexa!

That’s a huge bummer. You might try resetting it and setting it up again. I wonder if a setting is off or something.
Did you make sure you charged it fully? It said somewhere to fully charge it takes around 9 hours

Wyze is losing me, im not into subscriptions. Esp when i have 10 cams
I’m in the same boat. I’ve been slowly replacing everything to Eufy.
I have seen where you can plug in external power. In that case does it switch to working like a wired camera with battery backup?
No, the external powers just for the solar panels but it’s still acts the same way, even if it’s plugged in all the time
Do you have any recommendations for cameras that don’t need wifi or power?
I’ve been using the new 4G solar camera from Eufy for a couple of months now, and it’s been great. I reviewed it on the channel.
Thank you. Will check it out
I am also a long time user of Wyze cameras. I absolutely refuse to subscribe to their Cam+ plans. I am also super annoyed by all their attempts to get me signed up. The cameras are pretty cheap indeed, but they fail a lot too.
Good to see replaceable batteries but why no solar?
Hi! It will work with the solar panel, but I don’t have one handy at the moment. Thanks for watching!
Hi Mike, which battery Cam you recommend ?
I’ve been testing the Eufy Solar Cam light for the past couple of days and should have a review in the next week or two. For the price I like it more than the battery pro so far.
No "cam plus lite" available with this camera?
Yes, that’s correct. I wish it had it.
Tested it the battery doesn’t last long
Head to head
Not for us, and Wyze has too many smoke and mirrors... plus bugs!
I agree! Every product they've released had/has software bugs and their AI doesn't work as advertised.
So it's useless without the subscription...dang. I used to love this company, BUT we shall see.
I totally agree. I’m slowly moving away from Wyze products.

This cam is junk!
