As for the app joystick, I do believe you can press in the middle, then slide your finger up, down, etc. At least it works on Android version of the app.

It's not a secret how its $34. Wyze broke their commitment to always include free 12 second cloud back up, so no back up if stolen or damaged and no longer includes person detection, so goes back to the stone age of false motion alerts if using outdoors. So it's actually FAR more expensive over time to get the same features on this camera with subscription than the other cameras include for not added cost.

Since you asked, you CAN do the automatic Privacy mode at home and turn on surveillance when you leave. Do the following: * First, allow the Wyze app to see your location if you don't already do that (so it can tell when you are home or away) * Add Rule * Location Trigger * If I Enter * [Set Location] * [Set Location circumference between 500ft-1400ft) * Add Action = Select the Camera and choose the action of "Turn off the camera" (This is the same thing as Privacy mode) * (choose a time schedule if you only want it to do this during certain hours instead of ANYTIME you are home...maybe you want it to still record while you're sleeping or something in case of a break-in) Now do the opposite Location rule for when "I leave" that same location...have the action be to TURN ON the camera when you leave that area. Now it works exactly as you asked (Privacy mode when you're at home, and Turn on surveillance when you leave home). 👍
I’ll have to give this a shot, thanks for the tip! I was specifically looking for a privacy mode option, but turning the camera off makes sense. It seems like this option could be something that Wyze could turn into an on or off toggle in the settings. Similar to the way Nest thermostats have home/away modes. I think for some users, having this many steps could be a turn off. Thanks for the help!

I bought a V3 pan cam within an hour of hearing about them and I love it EXCEPT for the 90 degree power cable connector that you talk about. Looking at the 6 inch tail on the standard V3 camera there is no reason Wyze couldnt have had a similar tail on the V3 pan cam . If i have a situation where I need a longer run I will use a 25' usb extension cable and wrap the connection with electrical tape but I dont like Wzye changing something that didnt need to be changed in the first place. im kind of reluctant to remove the 90 degree plug now that its plugged in because im worried about stressing the connections and creating problems down the road. To use the supplied bracket you HAVE to feed the right angle connector through the bracket BEFORE you plug it in! 😡
I had my V2 for the past year under the eaves of the house, and it finally died on me (nasty storm, caused water damage). Replaced it with the V3, was annoyed by the proprietary 90° bend for the USB cord, since I already ran a long cord.y workaround was a short 3in male to female Micro USB in/out extender. Worked like a charm with the existing camera mount I had been using the V2 on

I just got the new PAN. I like it except it is useless to me at night because it catches light in my driveway & goes nuts trying to follow it & sending notifications. I had to turn off tracking & notifications.
I’ve bought so many of the old style and they worked good but then needed replaced so I got these new ones which are really nice when they work but the last three I have bought of the V3 pan the camera just goes all over the place and the tracking and everything is offand the camera has a mind of its own. It just moves all over the place.
I just put up a couple days ago outside. I replaced my V1 non-waterproof camera, which worked flawlessly for years under an eave. The included power cable is just too short so I drilled an extra hole in the L bracket so I could use my existing micro USB cable and it’s sealed fine especially because it’s out of direct weather. I agree that is fairly annoying that they did that.

I did buy one. I agree with all comments about the power cord. It’s still cool. I’m wondering if it will try to track snow flakes. The v3 reads raindrops. Time will tell. Pleased with the purchase.
Great video, Michael. I just bought one of these and I’m happy with it so far. A question for you… I run the Wyze app on a new iPad and a new android phone. The app randomly closes throughout the day on both of these devices. Most of the time, these devices are about 8 feet away from my router and my Wi-Fi signal is excellent. Does your app ever close without any reason? This is pretty frustrating for me. Thanks!
That’s really annoying. It has happened to me before a few times. It’s usually fixed by Wyze in an app update. I’m guessing if your devices are up to date, it’s an issue on Wyze’s side.
I just picked up two v3 s it’s the fixed ones , I’m loving this new toy ! lol my next one is the pan cam .. i pay for the subscription for my main camera It has a 3 second delay for alerts but it does the job .. that’s all i care about .. supper awesome security camera
I suspect the reason they don't do magnet for this Pan V3 is mainly due to weight. I think it's too heavy for the magnet to be able to strongly holding to the cam
I have 3 v3 cameras mounted inside double hung windows on the little shelf between the top and bottom panes looking outside through the glass. With any angle on the glass I get pretty bad reflections during daylight. I ordered a cam pan v3 Friday night from Amazon and got it the next day. Just waiting on the sd card to arrive before I mount it outside. I’m gonna move one of the inside V3s elsewhere. I just have to figure out how to get the wiring from the inside outlet through the double hung window (I assume I can squish the flat OEM cable around the top pane against the frame). Not sure 6 feet will reach that far. I’ve hidden my old stash of usb extender cables somewhere when we did a renovation a few years ago and don’t remember where they are!
@@MichaelVance I actually ended getting 2 of the campan v3s and mounted one on the outside of my house yesterday to replace a v3 that was looking out through the glass. It is working very well. I drilled a couple holes in the mortar joint between bricks, inserted the anchors, ran the flat cable between the top of the window and the frame, and it works great. I moved the old v3 elsewhere. I want to use the 2nd campan v3 for the backyard but haven’t figured how to mount it on vinyl siding yet. I might need to cut a wedge somehow to use on the siding.
I agree michael, if they're gonna make the power cable proprietary, they need to make it LONGER because it can always be coiled up to make it shorter!!! That's the only reason I'm not buying one right now. Somebody needs to shoot them an e-mail or something to let them know!!!!

I am considering getting one of this V3 pan cam and I am tracking any good and bad reviews before jumping on it. Your review is the most complete and non bias reviews that I have seen on this V3 Pan and yes, all end users of this can complain 'bout the propietary L shape short wire that comes with it, I was thinking, what about making a 3D print of that bracket, do you think it will free-up that older or other longer wires that we have to work on this unit? Great video - Question can you on the Cam Pan V3 when you go to events it only show's a snapshot and I cannot see the video event. Do I have to pay Wyze for that feature?
Yes, it’s a paid feature now. Super disappointing. I ended up leaving Wyze and switching everything over to Eufy since they don’t have subscription fees.
Thanks for the comments guys! I ordered one from Wyze.com on Tuesday, but it still hasn’t shown up. I’m planning to review it, but I likely won’t be done with it until next week. From what I’ve seen though, I think the OG may have better WiFi connectivity than the V3, but the V3 has better image quality at night and a slightly wider field of view.
Hello Michael, Great video. I just got the wyze v3 pan, and i 've been having issues with it. For some reason my cam keeps pointing up to a tree cause of the leafs moving. And most of the time it won't go back to the waypoint. I looked in the app to see if there's a way to stop it from rotating but i can't find it. Does the app have something that i can make it to stop moving and rotating and just stay in one spot???. Please let me know and thank you, God bless
While I do have CamPlus subscriptions, I also have micro sd cards installed in all my cameras so I can have the playback function by recording 24/7. CamPlus subscription insures I have video evidence in case the cameras (along with the sd cards) were to be stolen.

07/12/23 I have a question. I have 6 Wyze Camera, Wyze camera V3 pro & pan V3. 2 days ago, we lost the internet, and then it came back after calling our provider . When it came back, none of my cameras worked . I called Wyze & they said we don't support 5G. I told them what you mean? I have been having the same service. Nothing has been changed , & they keep saying the same thing. They don't support 5G on these Cameras. But I have been having 5G over a year. Do you have any feedback for me please?😢

I have a question about the Wyze app with the pan camera in particular. Can multiple people sign in to the same acco for viewing of the camera? I'm going to be moving in with my grandparents and I was considering installing one of these but want my other aunts and uncles to view in if need be. Is this doable or is it only one Wyze account at a time?
Great question! After you get it setup, you can share the camera with other Wyze users. They just need to create an account and then they can also view the camera.

I bought 3 of the pan v3...and yes I did buy a 3 pack of the Micro usb female to usb female adapters so I could use my existing 20ft Micro usb power cable I was using for my wyze cam v3...I did call wyze about this and hopefully they will include a power pig tail option like the wyze v3 so u can use your existing Micro usb power cords that are already running thur your house..

I can’t get mine to stay connected to my Wi-Fi so it does not work. I have two other Wyze cams in about the same area and never had any problems. Any help would be good thank you
No one is really explaining the basic needs to get these up and running. I heard you can use Bluetooth but it asked for wifi. I came to a frustrating end of attempting to set it up. I don't have home Wifi.
I'm still waiting for a decent microphone on a WYZE camera. Still paying for a Nest subscription. Those older Nest cameras have 100x better microphones and the app makes the experience scrubbing through footage 100x better too.
I agree. I’ve always felt that the lower price helps justify some of the drawbacks, but if you have lots of Wyze cams, the subscription costs end up being higher than the nest plans.
I just installed mine in my backyard. I was excited about the motion tracking, but unfortunately, the camera focuses on shadows moving and not the human moving. Any tips on fixing this issue?

As far as I can tell, it’s not. Several Wyze employees have commented on their Facebook page saying they don’t plan to add the v3 pan or the v3 pro. It’s really disappointing.
@MichaelVance No cam lite Deal breaker for me . Main reason I went with wyze to begin with. Really don't think it's idea of original 3 developers, not that type. More like new money owners squeezing every penny. Will eventually backfire.
Automatic pan and tilt can be off by default because for many buying the camera starts with having the option to pan an tilt if desired, especially if its inside the house moving all the time and if as loud as described. I've seen some people complain that the camera doesn't go back to its original set position after tracking motion...with your waypoint piece i'm wondering if just a single waypoint is set if that would solve that problem. Privacy mode working with location, I don't know how it would react but i'm assuming with the programming the privacy mode might activate if select "Turn off camera" as i'm assuming its same function, renamed "privacy" for "wow". Personally for location triggers I'd prefer if they had an option for a time time delay on arriving because that extra minute or two of footage might be exactly what I need one day

Good informative video. I was trying to turn on motion tracking for days now and could not find it. It was not obviously apparent to me that the menu slides over to reveal it. I too am a bit annoyed by the 90° plug. But I have a 3D printer and I'm gonna design a mount to use a standard plug to suit my needs. Maybe I'll add my own magnets?
@@MichaelVance I have one made that's similar to the bracket that comes with the cam. Once I get the other one made, I'll probably post them on Printables. I don't really use Thingiverse as much as I use to. I'll have to post the .step files too so people can modify them for their needs.
Yeah if your camera is low to the ground stealing it may be possible. Lucky for me I have it about 15-20 ft in the air. By the time they try and get that down I should know. But yet again not even an average 6 ft ladder can reach that. So theoretically mine can’t be touched

I bought the outdoor power adapter V2 that provides a short angled adapter that my existing V2 Pan Cam cabling can plug into and into the V3 Pan Cam. I’m going to use the power adapter to power my new OG and OG telephoto. The V3 Pan Cam works great for me so far.
@@MichaelVance - I wish they would make it an item you could purchase on their site separately. I am lucky that I can use the outdoor power kit separately as that kit does not reach the distance I need for the location of my Pan V3s. I already have long Micro USB cables out to those location and the USB-A portion run inside my garage where it’s safe from the weather. The rubber boot is awesome to keep water out of that connection though I keep them under the eaves anyway because I used to have the previous versions of the Pan Cams there.
the low price is because they force subscriptions upon us now. Its kind of like the Epsom printers. get the printer for 69 bucks, and pay $40 a pop for ink cartridges for the rest of eternity. They knew what they were doing when they start them this cheap. get people hooked and slowly raise the monthly cost to them, or render the cameras useless.
You can mount it on your garage opener, you just need to think outside the box, I used the mount that came with the solar panel from wyze and stopped complaining about the subscription. You probably waste more money on other stuff and for $35 what do you expect, see if you can find anything similar for the price....
There’s probably a way to do it, I just need to think about it for a little longer. There definitely isn’t anything like it for the price, I just felt like I needed to nitpick since it was such a great product.

Great video - Question can you on the Cam Pan V3 when you go to events it only show's a snapshot and I cannot see the video event. Do I have to pay Wyze for that feature?
Yes, it’s a paid feature now. Super disappointing. I ended up leaving Wyze and switching everything over to Eufy since they don’t have subscription fees.
Excellent review... Are you planning to review the new OG cameras. I'm trying to determine if I should pick up some of those or just get another v3.
The og is cheaper and smaller with a built in light, faster chips for notifications. Can't think of what benefits the v3 has over the og.

Thanks for the comments guys! I ordered one from Wyze.com on Tuesday, but it still hasn’t shown up. I’m planning to review it, but I likely won’t be done with it until next week. From what I’ve seen though, I think the OG may have better WiFi connectivity than the V3, but the V3 has better image quality at night and a slightly wider field of view.

Thank you! You can add multiple videos to a group in the Wyze app and then view them at the same time. Is that what you are asking?
Hello Michael, Great video. I just got the wyze v3 pan, and i 've been having issues with it. For some reason my cam keeps pointing up to a tree cause of the leafs moving. And most of the time it won't go back to the waypoint. I looked in the app to see if there's a way to stop it from rotating but i can't find it. Does the app have something that i can make it to stop moving and rotating and just stay in one spot???. Please let me know and thank you, God bless
While I do have CamPlus subscriptions, I also have micro sd cards installed in all my cameras so I can have the playback function by recording 24/7. CamPlus subscription insures I have video evidence in case the cameras (along with the sd cards) were to be stolen.
I do the same, it would just be nice to have the option to record locally to a device secured inside the home as well. Thanks for watching and commenting!

I have a question.
I have 6 Wyze Camera, Wyze camera V3 pro & pan V3.
2 days ago, we lost the internet, and then it came back after calling our provider . When it came back, none of my cameras worked . I called Wyze & they said we don't support 5G. I told them what you mean? I have been having the same service. Nothing has been changed , & they keep saying the same thing. They don't support 5G on these Cameras.
But I have been having 5G over a year.

I think it’s marginally better. I wouldn’t say it’s a stand out feature like they have it listed on their site.
For everyone talking about the power cord, I saw in another video, the person just drilled a hole in the mount for a regular cord to poke thru?
Yeah, it’s totally possible. Just annoying to have to do that, and you’ll loose some of the weatherproofing.

I have a question about the Wyze app with the pan camera in particular. Can multiple people sign in to the same acco for viewing of the camera? I'm going to be moving in with my grandparents and I was considering installing one of these but want my other aunts and uncles to view in if need be. Is this doable or is it only one Wyze account at a time?
Great question! After you get it setup, you can share the camera with other Wyze users. They just need to create an account and then they can also view the camera.

I bought 3 of the pan v3...and yes I did buy a 3 pack of the Micro usb female to usb female adapters so I could use my existing 20ft Micro usb power cable I was using for my wyze cam v3...I did call wyze about this and hopefully they will include a power pig tail option like the wyze v3 so u can use your existing Micro usb power cords that are already running thur your house..
That’s good feedback. It would be a helpful option to have still. Especially for those of us thinking about upgrading.
The only consideration here is that it might be important to keep the adapters on the inside part of the wired connection for weatherproofing.

I like having all 3 V3 cameras on my screen. Sounds like the pan would have to be a different app altogether

Can you try using wyze pan cam mounting kit accessory $7.99. I think should work. I use kit because it's magnetic for my pan v1
I can’t get mine to stay connected to my Wi-Fi so it does not work. I have two other Wyze cams in about the same area and never had any problems. Any help would be good thank you
I just got 2 of these. Unfortunately I thought my phone was all I needed. Apparently your need external Wifi?
No one is really explaining the basic needs to get these up and running. I heard you can use Bluetooth but it asked for wifi. I came to a frustrating end of attempting to set it up. I don't have home Wifi.
Yes, you will need a WiFi connection for these to work. They can't run off of bluetooth.

How long is the power cable?
I'm still waiting for a decent microphone on a WYZE camera. Still paying for a Nest subscription. Those older Nest cameras have 100x better microphones and the app makes the experience scrubbing through footage 100x better too.
I agree. I’ve always felt that the lower price helps justify some of the drawbacks, but if you have lots of Wyze cams, the subscription costs end up being higher than the nest plans.
I just installed mine in my backyard. I was excited about the motion tracking, but unfortunately, the camera focuses on shadows moving and not the human moving. Any tips on fixing this issue?
That’s an interesting problem. The only thing I can think of is to turn down the motion sensitivity in the settings.
Turned it down all the way 10. I just signed up for the cam plus and turned on person detection. Let’s see if it helps

As far as I can tell, it’s not. Several Wyze employees have commented on their Facebook page saying they don’t plan to add the v3 pan or the v3 pro. It’s really disappointing.

@MichaelVance No cam lite Deal breaker for me . Main reason I went with wyze to begin with. Really don't think it's idea of original 3 developers, not that type. More like new money owners squeezing every penny. Will eventually backfire.
Automatic pan and tilt can be off by default because for many buying the camera starts with having the option to pan an tilt if desired, especially if its inside the house moving all the time and if as loud as described. I've seen some people complain that the camera doesn't go back to its original set position after tracking motion...with your waypoint piece i'm wondering if just a single waypoint is set if that would solve that problem.
Privacy mode working with location, I don't know how it would react but i'm assuming with the programming the privacy mode might activate if select "Turn off camera" as i'm assuming its same function, renamed "privacy" for "wow". Personally for location triggers I'd prefer if they had an option for a time time delay on arriving because that extra minute or two of footage might be exactly what I need one day
That’s a great idea. I think 10 seconds may be too quick. Having the option to wait several minutes would be really helpful.
Will the Wyze solar panel work for power on this camera?
I don’t think so. I think their solar panel only works with their battery powered cameras.
I mounted it outdoor but it's not detecting notions much even when the sensitivity is set at the highest

You’ll find the setting to turn off pet detection under the detection settings for the camera.

There’s an option in the advanced settings for the camera to flip the image 180 degrees. It does right itself so you can make sense of what’s in frame

Yes, the v3 pan camera has a different interface than the v3 cam.

Depending on how bit it is, I imagine you wouldn't need motion tracking. I'm guessing you could get away with a v3 or an OG camera.
Good informative video. I was trying to turn on motion tracking for days now and could not find it. It was not obviously apparent to me that the menu slides over to reveal it. I too am a bit annoyed by the 90° plug. But I have a 3D printer and I'm gonna design a mount to use a standard plug to suit my needs. Maybe I'll add my own magnets?

@@MichaelVance I have one made that's similar to the bracket that comes with the cam. Once I get the other one made, I'll probably post them on Printables. I don't really use Thingiverse as much as I use to. I'll have to post the .step files too so people can modify them for their needs.

Yeah if your camera is low to the ground stealing it may be possible. Lucky for me I have it about 15-20 ft in the air. By the time they try and get that down I should know. But yet again not even an average 6 ft ladder can reach that. So theoretically mine can’t be touched
That’s a great point. Mine are about 8ft up. Hopefully I’d get video of someone pulling it down on CamPlus before my cameras were swiped, but you never know. Thanks for commenting!
Is this wireless?
I bought the outdoor power adapter V2 that provides a short angled adapter that my existing V2 Pan Cam cabling can plug into and into the V3 Pan Cam. I’m going to use the power adapter to power my new OG and OG telephoto. The V3 Pan Cam works great for me so far.

@@MichaelVance - I wish they would make it an item you could purchase on their site separately. I am lucky that I can use the outdoor power kit separately as that kit does not reach the distance I need for the location of my Pan V3s. I already have long Micro USB cables out to those location and the USB-A portion run inside my garage where it’s safe from the weather. The rubber boot is awesome to keep water out of that connection though I keep them under the eaves anyway because I used to have the previous versions of the Pan Cams there.
Does this require a subscription?
A subscription isn’t required, but it does make the camera more useful with person, pet, vehicle, and package detection.

I noticed that, I still think it’s a really good value, though.
the low price is because they force subscriptions upon us now. Its kind of like the Epsom printers. get the printer for 69 bucks, and pay $40 a pop for ink cartridges for the rest of eternity. They knew what they were doing when they start them this cheap. get people hooked and slowly raise the monthly cost to them, or render the cameras useless.

You can mount it on your garage opener, you just need to think outside the box, I used the mount that came with the solar panel from wyze and stopped complaining about the subscription. You probably waste more money on other stuff and for $35 what do you expect, see if you can find anything similar for the price....
There’s probably a way to do it, I just need to think about it for a little longer. There definitely isn’t anything like it for the price, I just felt like I needed to nitpick since it was such a great product.
Micheal needs to make is own camera.....with these pan cams they can only track 1 person..so if 2 or 3 people are in view.who is canera gonna watch..

If I remember correctly, I think the were marketing it under a different name. I’ve had no issues with low light performance.
