Theoretically, it is easy to solder such tiny smd parts. Just don't keep your solder iron too long on one spot. Doing this increases your risk to damage these parts. I solder permanently with 350 degrees and never had any problems with it.

The hardest parts were trimming the heatsink and reattaching the sd-card port. As for the points: Use a multimeter to check the continuity values of the resistors. Install the flex cable and recheck the values. If they aren't responding then you'll know they're not connected. And use good flux, best brand is Stirri v3-TF.

Man I finally received the microscope, and yesterday I could complete the soldering, and before re-assembly I got the no-sd screen, but when I put back the aluminium sheet, and turn on the switch, it starts normally, I tried using more tape everywhere but it I can't find where it culd be making bad contact. I think I have it now. I took the console apart again, until I got to the flex solder, I did some continuity checks, I cleaned the circuits and I put it back together, being careful to put tape in the places that could have contact, very similar to what you have in your tutorial. And that's it, it now works with the aluminum sheet. Greetings!

Once installed if didn't come preinstalled you can remove it and never use it again. The original usb stays and the two never have anything to do with each other it's just so a pc can initially interface with modchip to put firmware on modchip (hacking program)

So does this work on any Switch? Not oled or lite, but any hardware version of og switch (I guess v1 or v2) ?
Also is there a way of installing the chip without mutilating the heat shield?

    • @fixingmoddingbuilding

So yes works on v1 /v2. There is other versions for lite, oled.
I haven't seen a way of fitting it yet without cutting the heat shield.
I've done a few and never had an issue with overheating.

yeah, a picofly is another name for the modchip hes installing, if you need more specific name it would be called an rp 2040, be careful as there are different models for regular switch, oled, and lite. kits for v1 and v2 are similar, and are usually shipped together
