Warsaw, Poland, mid 90s. Falling asleep in my bed with headphones on and darkness around me. And this song - pure magic... My disfunctional family, unfullfilled love, loneliness and sadness, but also hope and will to live at the age of 15 - all the feelings mixed together. Oasis music was my wonderwall... Definitely my favourite Gallaghers's song.
As a songwriter, I cant imagine what an incredible year 1994-95 must have been for Noel. Just having this flood of song ideas and melodies, basically hitting a homerun every time he sat down to write a song for the album.
@ivegotcandy128 Only positive about being in the 2020s is that nowadays, those of who lived through the 90s can all come on hear and reminisce (grumble about how crap contemporary music is) together 😉
My favourite song of all time. Honestly can't describe how important this song is and how much I love this band. Truly one of their best songs that doesn't get the recognition it deserves. Magic song from a generation defining band.
What is the meaning of that line? Many Oasis songs are difficult for me to understand in Spanish. For the native English, the letters make sense and are easy to understand?
Bryan Martínez it's basically saying that at the end of the day, no one will remember the man in the song because he let everyone else control him, and never said or did what he wanted, so nobody will know or remember him, he will have no influence
ShrapnelTwo I think that it’s about how people can take your soul and your pride, but they cannot take your ability to cast no shadow, or be happy. When you are faced with something negative and blinding like the sun, you have to be able to cast no shadow and be articulate and composed.

For those who don't know, Noel wrote this song for Richard Ashcroft. Singer of The Verve band. Noel said: "He always seemed to me to not be happy about what was going on around him." When Noel sang this song to him before it was repeased, He even cried. "Come on, hold yourself together, son! Easy now. " Noel said to him while he was crying. Sorry about my english. I'm not very good at this.
I only like Oasis on White's era. Their first album is great and very Manchestersy... But from What's the story till Heathen Chemistry the band was at his peak.
A beautiful song dedicated to captain rock, Richard Ashcroft. And you can see why, it certainly has that Richard Ashcroft vibe about it with the strings and the smooth rolling rhythm.
This one is actually magnificent! The lyrics are truly wonderful.. but "Don't Look Back In Anger" I don't know what he was thinking when he wrote that one... he himself did not, lol! Of course, I LOVED both!
This song will be played at my brother funeral... who passed away very suddenly with the weight of the world on his shoulders.... we are proud of the brother he was before us ....we never judged you ,we adored you Paul ☯️💔💞
What a tune. This song reminds me of a friend who recently passed. He never left his home town, never came on holiday with us when we went (one of my greatest regrets in life) and he barely did much in his short life of 21 years. RIP brother, this one's for you man.

I hope one day I have the courage to tell him how I feel but for now I'll just share my thoughts with you guys cause if your here listening to this song I can gaurentee you have a good heart inside you. I don't think this is anyone's favorite Oasis song at first, but man does it grow upon you with age. "Bound with all the weight of the words he tried to say" Brilliant music by Noel, Liam at his peak = Mega tune.
LiveForever I probably listened to every Oasis song when I was 5-10. Loved them. I don’t listen to them much anymore but moments happen like today where this song is stuck in my head. I appreciate it a lot more at 27 obviously.
Another Oasis song that is underrated. Edit: Alright, I get it guys, it's not that underrated apparantly. My bad. Still aces of a song though. Also, Oasis reunion is actually happening!!!! The silver sun rises again!
I used to listen to this song on repeat when I was younger (18 to 20 yr old). It helped me so much with anxiety. I listened to it with breathing on the rythme of the music. Oasis is the band I listened the most in my entire life. From 14 to now… almost 40. Still love it so much!
The best band on the planet. I can’t pick a favourite song because they’re all perfect. Just wish Liam and noel would make up and give us the reunion we need
My favourite Oasis song. Earlier, it used to be "Morning Glory" lol, but this one just grew up on me eventually. The melody, the lyrics and both of Noel and Liam's voices together.
Liam's voice in WTSMG - straight from heaven. He had a subtle raspiness in his voice that was missing in his pure unadulterated voice on Definitely Maybe. It gives these songs a slight edge that makes them sound badass but endearing at the same time.

This has always been of my favourite Oasis songs and I've only learned today that it's about Richard Ashcroft. And it made sense in a way it never did before. Brilliant.
I'm a big verve fan and not very keen on oasis but this song is brilliant. I would of loved the verve and oasis doing a song together in the 90s or 2000s.
Whats beautiful about the words "as they took his soul, they stole is pride" is it shows they could've just taken his soul and left him with his pride which just really hits home the unjust nature of the subject he is singing about. It's like "you coulda left him with him pride, you didn't need to take that, you stole it and for what?".
Without a doubt my favorite song right now. Insanely beautiful instrumental coupled with some powerful vocals. Truly a song to belt out at the top of your lungs.
One of my all time favourite songs. What is profound is that I loved it as a 10 year old kid not knowing what it meant, but now I am a man I fully understand it.
Alan's drumming on the whole record - especially on "Cast no shadow" and also "Wonderwall" - was brilliant! Very unique style, defined the entire album's sound 👌🏻👌🏻
