It is probably their best song. Written in the studio, during the sessions. Totally uncontrived, completely heartfelt. Lyrics. Performance. Everything is gold.
Here's a thought for every man Who tries to understand what is in his hands (what's in his hands) He walks along the open road of love and life Surviving if he can (surviving if he can) Bound with all the weight of all the words he tried to say Chained to all the places that he never wished to stay Bound with all the weight of all the words he tried to say As he faced the sun he cast no shadow As they took his soul they stole his pride (pride) As they took his soul they stole his pride (pride) As they took his soul they stole his pride (pride) As he faced the sun he cast no shadow Ah ah Ah ah Ah ah Here's a thought for every man Who tries to understand what is in his hands (what's in his hands) He walks along the open road of love and life Surviving if he can (but only if he can) Bound with all the weight of all the words he tried to say Chained to all the places that he never wished to stay Bound with all the weight of all the words he tried to say As he faced the sun he cast no shadow (ah) As they took his soul they stole his pride (pride) As they took his soul they stole his pride (pride) As they took his soul they stole his pride (pride) As they took his soul they stole his pride (pride) As he faced the sun he cast no shadow As he faced the sun he cast no shadow (ah) As he faced the sun he cast no shadow (ah) As he faced the sun he cast no shadow
At 0:00, is Noel making a dig that he’s the sole song writer of the band? Fuck knows. I need context.. Seriously though, this is my favourite version of this song.
He says it because the song they played before Cast No Shadow was Whatever (cut from the broadcast). Whatever ended with a snippet of All the Young Dudes by David Bowie and Whatever itself was subject of a lawsuit because of the similarities to How Sweet to Be an Idiot by Neil Innes. The lawsuit ended with Innes getting co-writing credit. Hence the «let’s carry on with one that I wrote» line.
@@EJ2K2K Yes, except that I just discovered that Cast No Shadow was actually played before Whatever and not after like I thought 😅 Hmmm… still could make sense in a way? He was constantly being accused of stealing, so the quote could be a reference to that at least. Sorry for the confusion!

SO good, doing the backing vocals too, amazing
Damn, Noel should sing this song live more often. Despite Liam’s iconic vocals it suits beautifuly to Noel’s range.
Sung both parts..
How can a scally from Manchester write a tune like that? Beautiful!

Here's a thought for every man
Who tries to understand what is in his hands (what's in his hands)
He walks along the open road of love and life
Surviving if he can (surviving if he can)
Bound with all the weight of all the words he tried to say
Chained to all the places that he never wished to stay

As he faced the sun he cast no shadow
Ah ah

Ah ah
Here's a thought for every man
Who tries to understand what is in his hands (what's in his hands)
He walks along the open road of love and life
Surviving if he can (but only if he can)
Bound with all the weight of all the words he tried to say
Chained to all the places that he never wished to stay
Bound with all the weight of all the words he tried to say
As he faced the sun he cast no shadow (ah)
As they took his soul they stole his pride (pride)
As they took his soul they stole his pride (pride)
As they took his soul they stole his pride (pride)
As they took his soul they stole his pride (pride)
As he faced the sun he cast no shadow
As he faced the sun he cast no shadow (ah)
As he faced the sun he cast no shadow (ah)
As he faced the sun he cast no shadow
Damn this one is good
Even better than the original.
Mitchthemysteryman 100% agree.
Agree
Love the upward inflection on "pride"
Not a chance. Isn’t even half as good as when Liam sings it
Way better than the original...not even close
Off the cuff brilliant
BOUND WITH ALL THE WEIGHT OF ALL THE WORDS HE TRIED TO SAY
Pero qué bonita es joder

Yeah, Liam was heckling him after the last song, and Noel then makes a dig by saying, “I’d like to carry on with one that I wrote.” The irony.
@@liampritchard2161 or maybe he played this one after a cover, either way. the entire show is on utube
