I need to learn this song for the service tonight......and although you sing different words, and have phrased some bits differently, I love this song of of worship. How important it is to mean (and understand) such glorious words! Thanks for a great uplifting hymn of praise to the King!

Well, that's pretty. but the original-- has such majestic words, in my opinion the most beautiful phrases ever to grace the English language. I know it was written in French, but the English phrases we know are beyond description. Sadly, however, one verse, the second, I think, is frequently omitted. That verse is so beautiful it brings me to tears every time. "led by the Light of Faith serenely beaming, with glowing hearts, by His cradle we stand. So led by light of a star sweetly gleaming, here come the wise men from Orient land. The King of Kings lay thus in lowly manger, in all our trials, born to be our Friend. He knows our need. to our weakness is no stranger. Behold your King; before Him lowly bend." We know He was born to be our Savior, but we sometimes forget He was born to be our Friend, the One who always understands. The One who will never leave us or forsake us. the One who invites us to come boldly before the throne, that we may find grace to help in time of need. Why is the needed message with majestic phrasing so difficult to find in a recording?

Never ceases to amaze me why people want to rewrite the words we all know and love, and turn a 'worship song'!!!

I believe they both are beautiful versions. They both contain countless doctrinal truths. I still like the original, but I love this one too.

It’s way better this way. Theologically rich ❤

I love these new words too but can still enjoy the original ones, surely we can have both?

I personally think it is a terrible arrangement musically. Love the original words myself

Dreadful version. People should listen to Michael Crawford on RUclips singing this, it's amazing.
