@@Troglodytarum Couldnt help but respond,also because i was notified of your response by youtube..incidentally i was just singing this hymn yesterday in the midst of some grave injustices i have been witnessing that were troubling my heart...this hymn just came to me whilst i was in front of the blessed sacrament in the adoration chapel..like almost guided by the Spirit to sing this hymn in prayer..i work in social justice..i can assure you when someone offers a prayer..especially asking Lord Jesus to help the poor...there is no greater work they can offer for the poor or homeless than asking for that help from Jesus the Holy one.

Guys, it's supposed to be sad. This song is supposed to represent about 400 years of no prophets, no one had contact with God except in individual's situations. There was no one to help everyone collectively understand. They were lost, confused, abused, and waiting desperately for someone to help. This song is to represent that 400 years of hell on earth.

I'm a Baptist so my church's musical worship differes somewhat. Nevertheless I can understand and agree with the overall sentiment. This song sung in church is still my favorite overall all artist recordings.
