It is so impressive to learn how to do all this and then do it yourself. I can barely walk from the kitchen to the living room without spilling my coffee. People like this are inspiring.
@Idk__ I think it's the practicality/risk involved. If you fuck up, it matters. Insulation, wiring, and not to mention getting your rig insured.
I dream of doing stuff like this but worry it's not even worth it. If the truck breaks down in the middle of nowhere, good luck finding a mechanic who can fix LMTV's.
I wonder how well you drive if you struggle to walk with a cup 10 feet.....
Scary.
You too can do it! All you need is a little ingenuity and hard work!
@@mowgli6345 bro its a Cummins 12V engine....
Most astonishing fact about this truck is that he made it all himself this is magnificent
i don't think he made them tyres, glass, steering wheel, engiene
@@nakachinjah7240 he was clearly talking about the everything but the base of the truck. No need to be pedantic. He made his own stove, something not everyone would do.
@@TheFreeBro spilling carbon monoxide though, note the soot stains either side.
@@nakachinjah7240 show engiene
@@nakachinjah7240 no, dumbo. He made it from the very scratch. He made the bolts, glasses, irons, the rubber, etc...
Impressive. Way out of my league; you speak a strange language. Much admiration for your skills and motivation. God bless you.
This is the coolest thing I've ever seen. Really puts my honda element to shame lol.
well them take a look at the museroamer
from andrew muse
Could probably sell it and buy one of those
This is the Millenium Falcon of overlanding.
Go look up Unicat 😉👍
Millennial falcon?
Very nice conversation.
She may not look like much, but she's got it where it counts.
The table needs space chess tho. 😂
Some poor farmers probably missing his whole barn after this build
Lol

Wait what I don't get it

This is actually a really funny comment, you're not entirely wrong...😆
Used to drive these in the 🇬🇧 military, many nights spent in the back of these and many miles driving, perfect imo for camping. Reliable, 4x4, decent amount of engine power.
One of my favorite builds on here so far. The guy is obviously talented and awesome with his hands. Looks so comfortable
Thanks, I appreciate the kind words! Cheers.
Dang its so cool and you can tell he put alot of care and deliberate design
i seen the caulking on the ladder, spray the ladder with rino lining...excellent grip and will never rust!
By far the absolute best build I seen! Exactly what my wife and I want to build. I’d love to find one of them trucks here in NC USA! Beautiful job man!
This is hands down one of the nicest living spaces I’ve ever seen. I love the garage setup and the inside of this home with the table to separate the sleeping quarters and kitchen is a great layout. I’d do a log cabin like build myself and the barn wood is a great idea. What a great build!
This is absolutely the best RV I've ever seen. He did an amazing job.
With how much you spent on it yeah I agree$60,000 is a bit much
@@krislarsen6546 but he mentioned selling his past vehicle so it was not 60k out of pocket. also 60k for a home is cheap as dirt. this guy just paid 60k for a home and a vehicle. gas is expensive. but, you dont even need it considering you have a mobile home
The Leyland diesel engine is legendary. Can still recall the rhythmic grunt of the engine at idle.
This truck is honestly a masterpiece.
Thanks! 🙌
What a well engineered and thought out home. Propane tied down, extinguisher next to wood stove, air flow fans, engine heating up shower water, etc. Amazing!
Agreed, a really good design
Thanks for the kind words! Cheers
I also had a problem with odor from my selfmade compost toilet so I added a 5v computer fan in front of an old vacuum hose to the ground. The odor is gone and de humanore stays a lot dryer.
Your desire to create a home out of reclaimed & treasured materials has turned into a beautiful traveling home. Great job.
Thanks so much! Have a wonderful day!
Got to love a Leyland truck being given a new lease of life.
13 mpg? That's better than some pickup trucks with something on the roof
Our rig -- 1996 Ford CF8000.
Cummins 505ci mechanical through an Allison 3060.
We rarely get better than 14mpg.
Our interior -- 7w x 12 l x 7h, about 600cf.
Weight across the scale -- 14,000#.
GVWR -- 29,000#.
(And 'yes', I am familiar with the Pound Me Too 'movement'.)

So he did this while having a job and getting his pilot license...I feel bad now.
When you're passionate about something, it's surprisingly easy to find the time. :)
no, he barely ever worked, his job was handled to him by his father (parents) and he spent his parents money in the process
BTW I have pilot friends exactly like him, they travel around the world, buy expensive stuff and have highly paid jobs, and they would tell you. They have never ever had to work in their life, they occasionally do it just because and to say the do something with their lives. Im suprised he is not an F1 pilot ( or something like that), as my friends are.....again just because
@@cefux stop feeling sorry for yourself
@@cefux if you were really their friend, you wouldn't talk so poorly about them to strangers. Food for thought.
This is definitely a outback lumberjack style of vehicle! It is a meaty and solid looking force to reckon with! Wowsers.
This is perfect, I also live in BC, would you let me come check it out in person? It’s been my dream to build something like this for a long time, and I think your layout is the best I’ve seen.
First truck i lived and travelled in through france sud,was an ex military austin k9, called Kati k9,,2yrs and 2children ,,one born whilst travelling,,early 80,s,,so happy to see lots of people getting to live and travel like this ,,its super good fun, this is a real pimped ride ,,mine was incredibly basic,,🤣🤣
What a masterpiece! Must feel great to know you have built everthing yourself
Thanks Alfred!
I can appreciate how he has a contingency for his contingency for heating the unit.
I'm in love mate, it reminds me of the inside of a small sailing yacht from the turn of the 20th century. I spent the whole video looking for things I would change and the only one I got is I would use a drop-in icebox right where your insulated box is instead of the refrigerator and use the fridge space for more dry goods storage. absolutely superb build
Thanks Ryan!
Awesome rig!
He’s given me a lot of little tips for my build!
He's giving me ideas, too.
Awesome job. Just got myself a Mitsubishi 4x4 tipper truck (for general farm and excavator carrying duties) and am planning on building a slide on camper unit for it. It has a 3.5 x 2.2m tray with removable sides and tailgate, but there are fixed rear corner posts. I’m looking into making them removable for ease of sliding the camper on. The tuck has 4 huge steel toolboxes already fitted.
Great Job on the conversion! Stumbled on your video and realized that you bought the truck from Red Deer motors where I work. Definitely ended up in the right hands. Enjoy
Ive had a flatbed one many years ago .It had twin 20mm AAA at the back. It was one of my favorite toys when I was a kid. Now after seeing yours, I want a real one just like that.
Truly incredible, I admire this guy's tenacity.
Thanks so much!
Amazing to see how you converted this truck into a mobile home. Well done.
Where are dudes like this in New England...for real I hope I have a friend this cool in my life👍👍
Could put one of those fold out roof tents on the cab as guest accommodation 😂 I like the rustic Interior done a good job there mate 👍
Awesome, thanks for the costs, figures, and stats. I half expected you to tell us about how you added an amphibious setting and an outboard motor for on water lake crossing and camping! Haha!
That DAF would’ve no doubt come from BATUS. The UK have an agreement with the Canadians to use Suffield Training Area in Alberta, it s about 50km from Medhat. We used to do huge exercises on the Prairies out in BATUS so I would’ve thought this would be a product of that.
You're absolutely correct, the original truck was purchased by a collector from the Crown Auction and then taken to military shows around the country.
Wow, it is nice to be at the top of the food chain. it sounds like an amazing engine, it beats everything in its class. amazing job!
Beautiful build. I love seeing people make things exactly the way they want it
Fanciful, cool and cozy. One of the nicest interiors I've seen in a while.
What an incredible bargain! 70k Canadian is about 55k usd at the moment, and this could easily sell for 200-250k usd. The 1,300 mile range is pretty amazing too. I’ll be keeping an eye out for one of these vehicles…
This is Awesome!! It’s definitely more of a man cave… but it’s super cool! I’m always amazed at the creativity in these beautiful builds!
Fantastic job brother, big kudos for the follow through, solo commitment to build and excellent use of repurposed materials. Killer man
Thanks so much!!!
I like that he actually has spare parts and tools on board. He seems alot more legit
So much recycling and repurposing done here, and it turned out looking so great.this guy is such a humble genius fr.
Best one I've seen on RUclips, and he's Canadian, extra points there.
I have seen most luxurious camp trucks but with a tight budget and everything you have done it’s completely amazing. The things which i like the most is-
1. Dog area which i never seen before.
2. Classic simple Dinning table with window just in front of kitchen as most of the luxury trucks fails in this thing.
3. The garbage and shoes area are just behind main door. When you put washroom and kitchen garbage it will not stink or smell because you can open door. Moreover you will never forget to dump it.
4. The bed have bookshelfs and moon roof.
5 The last and most important which i have liked the vehicle, the mechanism, its not complicated like new ones as anyone can repair at anywhere if it’s have problem.
To conclude the only thing that i want too add is little cockpit door which will connect both of them through bedroom.
Your truck is awesome! For a rushed project, as you claimed it to be, it still turned out to be a great compact build. Super nice!
Thanks so much!
Awesome build. Excellent. More of a home than camper. Love it.
The sitting area and those solar panels are the best part of this self built rv.
Stunning.. thanks Mom for sewing up what we needed beautiful.
tip: he could have used a cheap diesel parking heater for big rig cabs, provides clean, hot air, and can be connected to the trucks fuel tank
I just put a tube on the exhaust and put it in he car
@@Andy-zo1pm hmmm...
No wonder we never heard back from U
Dang ... what ISN'T this guy capable of building?! Impressive rig & home...
His van looks so spacious. Love it!!!
I totaly love the style you gave this truck. Awesome work man!
All I have to say is so much respect to you man this was the coolest build I've ever seen
Thanks man, I appreciate the kind words!
Rushed or not, he made a nice vehicle with a very interesting interior.
Get out there, see how it works for you, and change as you go.
I’m on version 2.0 of my sprinter. Version 1.0 was an air mattress in an uninsulated, windowless van.
Been camping and exploring since we rolled it out of the show room!
I fully expect to never achieve perfection before I wear it out!
This might be my favorite tiny mobile house on youtube. I LOVE the refurbished wood and other materials.
I drove these trucks all over the world while in the military - they are superb 👌🏻
I can't believe you build this by yourself..wow👌🏻😃 congrats
But i never thought it would be costly that Much...
Wish you a pleasant time with your flying home 😁
***..Wowwwwww !! FANTASTIC ... great work !! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 you are quite gifted young man. 😘 💕.. God Bless you. ***
...This is a REALLY good looking and functional truck along with all the repurposed wood and stuff🤯🙌🙌🙌
If anyone needs to know, these are so nice to drive. And brilliant off road
This guy is so badass, this is the one who survives the apocalypse.
What apocalypse? Why can’t it just be fun and for camping. The world is not going to end any time soon
nah, he's Canadian......which means he probably has 0 experience shooting. This thing is just a giant lootbox for the first group he comes across that is armed, lol.
@@Clockwork0nions what makes you think Canadians don’t own firearms, they fucking love hunting over there. Then again what fucking apocalypse are you guys talking about
@@MrJimheeren
>what makes you think Canadians don’t own firearms,
Given the difficulty of getting a gun in Canada compared to the US, most Canadians do not own, or have never shot, and sort of firearm.
@@Clockwork0nions owning a fire arm in Canada is pretty easy. You just have to fill in some paperwork and register you gun with the government that’s about it. Canadians own a lot of rifles almost as many as there are Canadians. So what are you talking about
I am extremely impressed at your talent in creating useful things
Thanks Jeff!
Well done Alex! Really inspiring for own Expedition Truck build :)
Oz!
Cheers!!!
You did this all yourself? I am impressed!!! Love all the space and storage!
All of it by mysef, yep! Thanks!
@@SlowRoamers Just WOW!! You are talented!!
As they say in Canada, Beauty! You built it as a proud Canadian. Excellent job from an American friend!
It looks really good, almost as if it came configured like that from the factory.
This is the sickest build I have ever seen
This dude is a low key genius, so creatively gifted. Wow. That's attractive as hell his wife is a lucky lady. My husband can't even swap out a flat tire.
Wow,that’s my dream vehicle....Best wishes from Wales 🏴
Very good job young man. I absolutely think you are amazing. Thank you for sharing your talent.
Thanks so much Connie, have a nice day!
Damn Good Job--Love the stove pipe
Matt Payne seems to be the man when it comes to the Leyland DAFT244
wow just wow here is to better days and to the best Decade EVER
by far the coolest living space on wheels, fantastic job bro...Happy Trails thanks for the share
Wow , you are a utilitarian genius young man. That is a sweet unit .
I drove these in the British army 😄
I appreciate old military vehicles getting a new lease of life.
It looks strange without the mustache 😄
This is a magnificent build! Beautiful work!
Thanks for the kind words Sam!
I love the upgrades. I need a truck like this!
Why cant people built diesel trucks this efficient and reliable ❣️❣️❣️ everything built by him ... Breaking down is fun time....lucky guys ❤️
Are you guys ready for the Storm !
Nice build ...
NEAT I hope you will be safe and that the vehicle lasts as long as you intend for it to be your home.
Thank you Alex, nice rig. Tossing a coin between a school bus and surplus army truck. Here we have M1078 2.5 tons for $20k USD. Thinking great start, maybe just planting a camping trailer on it.
Very clever guy, nice work.
Wow! Excellent job!! Tons of well thought out details. Lots of time invested for sure. That gas detector should be mounted high though, not on the floor. Easy fix.
In our ExpeditionVehicle, we have two smoke detectors from different manufacturers...
... and two CO detectors from different manufacturers.
Sweet rig ! Great job
Thanks Jerry!
the interior looks like a ship, i like it!
Amazing!!! I'll be watching for this truck on the TCH.
Man! This guy can built anything! 💪 cool
Really smart and practical build.
Great job. I like all the wood!
Love Does!!! Gota love Bob Goff.
What an absolutely fabulous build
@11:45 - cool table concept and 6 foot rule for tables
The RV is very impressive 👏 👌. He built it himself and did a fantastic job 👏 👍.
He also cooks himself...
🙌🙌🙌🙌
awesome video, feels like you can hop on to the vehicle and travel the globe in it.
what the what! I don't even know what I'm looking at. Mind blown! Gorgeous aesthetic! Nice work!!!
Woooow! This is so awesome!!!!
