I met Mike a few years ago when he had his truck out in the East Kootenay's. Great guy and a hell of a unique rig. He didn't have the big sound system in it back then, I bet it pounds. Keep on trucking Mike!
"They're made of unicorn skin 'cuz I can't seem to find another one like it!" Too funny! I appreciate your funny quips interjected randomly throughout your tour commentary and I love this rig and all the unique and creative ideas you have executed. It is clearly a labour of love, blood, sweat and tears!
I've shared time with Mike on the road, and he's a lovely soul with a brilliant mind, in my humble opinion. Its great to see you on here, Mike! sending my best across the miles :)
I liked everything about that rig. It was simple, yet very functional. I liked the fender storage of his chainsaw and grill. That made so much sense to me. Thanks for sharing brotha!
this dude is something else . i have seen many videos about life on trucks/bus/rv but this guy he is so pure and honest .that final advice at the end was sooo dammnn goooooodd
I just watched some very expensive overland builds, but i have to say that your vision and attitude of this build is not only incredible but above all practical. Great job, thanks for showing.
I loved his very last words at 15:44, about encouraging people to do this life style, he says "you'll inspire others along the way and others will lift you up as you go". I also love that his favorite thing is helping people who are in a jam, I think that seems like a great way to live.
Awesome mobile sound system with the other essentials of life as an added bonus. Personally love it..cozy and comfortable..the stove, hot water setup is genius and super practical. Many more happy travels Mike..and hello from Australia. 🤘
Love the way you live brother. Since I've been watching you and your lifestyle I'm serious thinking of mobilizing my way of living also, just have to have a little more space for me and my best friend Dakoto my Jackrussel but your's is awesome 👌 brother, and hope you have the best of luck on your travels. So keep on keeping on my friend!!!
Lovely Rig. I actually prefer seeing these type of truck homes instead of the 'instagram' looking vans that are often seen on youtube because to me they seem to be more about following the latest interior trends rather than Mike's home that he has built to his liking and his built in sound system. I like the colour as well.
Great build! I want to get one of these trucks and do something similar but maybe start with the m934 expandable or the m927/28 extra long wheel base. I have over 2000 hours driving these trucks off road in the back woods of Northern Ontario and they're hard to kill! Drive too fast and over loaded and stuff will break. Mike's right about that stock heater. We had floor heaters installed and they barely kept up in -35C. I ended up disconnecting the stock duct for the window and floor heat and attaching it to a hood I made over the floor heater. That got me plenty of heat on the driver's side of the cab. Putting a bonnet over the front grill in the winter is almost a must. That engine fan blows the cold straight through the firewall.
A brilliant build! Truly self contained rig. I’m wondering now if Cummins has a multi fuel option for the engine in his truck? I still do not understand the wood stove heating the water and engine but he is a engineer guru!
Amazing build man I was just scared that you parked on a cliff right on the edge I have a fear of heights so I was screaming when I saw open up the bonnet standing right there
With current events it looks very practical it just needs a fuel trailer behind and drop a few trees and pull in a few boulders as you go to slow the hoard
Actually while the tires would be hard as he mentions most truck mechanics will be well versed with the engine and transmission of the truck as they are both quite standard
you could always but another truck like that for 10k and part it and have spare engine, trany and all components sitting in a garage or storage loccker.
The problem I see with these military truck conversions is that while cool to experience driving 40 miles (64km) into remote wilderness (I've been doing this for over 40 years), it is important to consider what percentage of your time will be spent deep in the woods versus getting to the start of the dirt road. City driving is basically off the table. Driving in heavy traffic is a nightmare. Driving over 30 mph (48kmh) is not a good experience. Fuel usage is insane, and should the price skyrocket or should there be even a partial interruption in supply, you had better be parked in a nice place. Finally when (not if) you break down, you likely won't be able to go to the closest auto parts store to get the part you need. You will have to search online to find the part and wait while it is shipped to someplace close to you. It's a lot to consider. Mike's build is awesome! I have been many places deep in the forests of the PNW that I can envision having his rig parked and having a memorable time. I myself am searching for an exploration rig to build, but it will be somewhere between a 4X4 van and an older 4X4 class B size rig (like a Chinook or Ford Expedition). I plan to invest serious money in the suspension to have it be adjustable to provide reasonable comfort with on pavement ride and solid, reliable offroading ability.
when he said hydronic heating I thought he was about to say "with in floor heating" hahahah this is a masterpiece! but the system to recycle the antifreeze is flipping brilliant One Hundred percent this workhorse will last well over a million kilometers
This guy reminds me of Rex Gregor and wolfe from after the clone wars living in a modified AT-TE they found on silos, anybody who watches star wars rebels know what I’m talking about. Awesome rig
Maaan! your breakfast looks tasty! As for your view on your timing....yeah 5 years earlier would have allowed you to buy cheaper gas, but trust! Everything that you choose to do from a healthy and solid space (frame of mind), is done exactly when it needs to be done.
If you're thinking about going down this road look into Stewart and Stevenson military surplus trucks which can be had at a great deal. There was an awesome example of one at Overland Expo 2022.
So it would seem this truck wouldn't be the best idea for traveling due to the poor gas mileage a vehicle like this would get. That is the only down side I see to this awesome beast of a build. Very impressive to say the least!!! Thanks for sharing. 👍
it's a trade-off. The truck is cheap, and everything on it is cheap. So a lot up-front savings that may offset the costs of fuel even with a more initially expensive fuel efficient vehicle.
Hay man you gotta change you battries out to lithium a 200amp 24v drop in replacement will change your life its made the biggest diffance for us we just replaced 4 105 amp hour deep cycle battries at 12v with one lithuim 120amp hour one. It charges faster and gives you the full storage and lasts longer :)
This is exactly the vehicle I would want if I had the skills to do what Mike did, You can take off and park wherever you want (obviously within reason and property boundary limits) but this would really take you anywhere and you would just have to maintain it in good working order so if or when you needed to move it's going to take you there. I love what he did with it! The wood stove is great! Haha Activate Karen's! Love it!
What is the top gear speed of the vehicle when engine is running at moderate RPM and at high RPM? What fuel mileage do you get when driving on highway 80kph and when driving 30kph on logging roads?
How much would you ask for your truck if you had to sell it?? Do you know of a site that has converted busses or trucks for sale? I love how you have your wood stove running your hot water cooking heating and even the engine warm up thing.

Mikes got the vibe. Took out the things he didn’t need and put in a godly sound system. I’d call that legendary.
I met Mike a few years back in Vancouver B.C. The Rig is Awesome and Mike, well he can do and fix just about anything. Great and generous guy.
I've shared time with Mike on the road, and he's a lovely soul with a brilliant mind, in my humble opinion. Its great to see you on here, Mike! sending my best across the miles :)

Great build. Love ur dry humor.
Amen on the sheets on the bed. I have to open my back doors to get my sheets on it.

There is noone I like getting in and out of trouble with, more than Mike.
Love you Brother.
Happy trails.
Ah yeah bro we will hop a jet and storm another country someday!

Now that's a truck camper! Talented DYI, lot of wisdom to build out this thing.
Oh Man that sound system! "Activate any Karen from a long distance" LOL!
A simple man
Who proud whatever he done, very enthusiastic and optimist.
A good person to have a talk with.
Awesome mobile sound system with the other essentials of life as an added bonus. Personally love it..cozy and comfortable..the stove, hot water setup is genius and super practical. Many more happy travels Mike..and hello from Australia. 🤘
Fantastic job on your rig! It’s not what ya buy, it’s what ya build!
❤️🌴🐈🐈🐈🌴🏴☠️

Actually not, parking is a problem in town

there was a lotta "when my last one exploded" :) this dude should write poetry. welder poetry. that's what the world needs right now.
Love the build.
Watching this gave me so much welcome inspiration and confidence for my current Canter 4x4 build - cheers guys! Awesome vibe truck.
Very nice build. Thank you for the tour. Well done.
I love the bed 💚💚💚
This is some real expedition vehicle 🚗
That has a "a bachelor lives here" look all over it.
A brilliant build! Truly self contained rig. I’m wondering now if Cummins has a multi fuel option for the engine in his truck? I still do not understand the wood stove heating the water and engine but he is a engineer guru!
Well done!👏👏👏
Cool rig!! Wish I would've seen it when you passed through new brunswick!
This is AMAZING!
Mike, you're a brute, all respect, love the build!

He can probably go to any military base and buy them!

Great rig!
These speakers are INSANE... Fix them at the top of the truck and blast some hard rock or heavy metal at sunset would be 🤘🤘
Impressed by your truck conversun. Looking forward for your trip 😊.

I was just lost when it got to the speakers, then I figure you’re probably getting paid to host raves. Cool vehicle.
🤩 amazing. Funny, such a masculine bus has a such a feminine name. Lol 💞
Lekker man lekker 🇿🇦
Love it. What a cool rig
Great job. I love that thing. I’m really impressed! Greetings from Germany!
Oh cool rig too
More people need to chill like Mike life’s too short 🤙🏻
I love it. plain simple and all you need

@@zerocool2352 well my 40 foot long school bus gets about 6mpg. I would be shocked if that thing got 5. That thing is a BEAST!!!
>no hot water without a fire
>several kw of speakers
Absolute legend
Beautiful Home
We like you and your rig 🇦🇺
Def down to throw down a set in that rig !
Cool truck

As a former audio engineer, I LOVE your build!!
That is such homey rig. It's a real cozy home as opposed to a show pony.
Wow what a great video. Great advice. Very entertaining funny dude. Super real.
How is it going under bridges? I’m you have to be careful planning your routes with how high she sits. I absolutely love the build.
Dude that truck is metal
Brother is serious about his sound.

I liked this build from the first time I saw the original premiere of Mikes truck.
Mike has an Elon Musk type of intelligence/personality.
Awesome build brother! But fuel costs must be crazy now.
Cool build and I thought the owner was hilarious lol
What is the top gear speed of the vehicle when engine is running at moderate RPM and at high RPM?

If your out in Calgary, hit me up you can park your rig here.
great thing bout these ole Deuce N Half they can go everywhere and run on BIO Diesel, so if ya can find that type of gas station ya can use it
The King
I think I couldn't afford to drive it very much. Unless I had a constant resupply from the rear of fuel and ammo
How much would you ask for your truck if you had to sell it??
Do you know of a site that has converted busses or trucks for sale?
I love how you have your wood stove running your hot water cooking heating and even the engine warm up thing.
Hell yeah!
this is definitely a man's vehicle XD those speakers are rad!!!!
But it that crazy catch 22, you found size, but no over drive and 4-6 mpg is a hog going states wide. But Nice well build project
Hey. I live in Alberta. What advice can you give me for looking for a 6 by 6? Look in the states or in Canada?
Wow what a beautifull rigg
Forget the mini-split AC. Get a "refurbished" dual-inverter 14,000 BTU window AC for $400. Real nice, quiet, and not complicated.
My house is more aerodynamic than this truck😅, very unique build though👍
How many gallons to the mile does it get ?
It doesn’t.
This truck is so zombie apocalypse Proof ♥️🇭🇲
THEM BIDEN FUEL PRICES THO!!!!!!🤩😂😭
Replace tires with 385 95 20 military tires, they don't make 14.00 r 20 tires. I own a m925 5 ton truck just like yours.
Mad max peace monk
I'm sorry, this guy's dog ISN'T named Rin Tin Tinitus?
Heat pump is da wey 👀
Build all this but can´t switch the passanger seat with the drivers seat. :o
Sweet Karen Activation Units🚨
you just need to turn on the subwoofers to remove the ice and snow from your truck!!!!!!
