    Wow, up early. I enjoyed this video. Sometimes an explanation of how you can go wrong is a big help to not only correct mistakes but to point out misconceptions in one's original understanding. Also helps reinforce the correct way. Excellent lesson for me.

    Hi Victoria, thank you for the great lessons and tips. After 31 years of teaching high school and using my voice day in and day out, I developed a muscle tension dysphonia following a bad flu and stubborn laryngitis. I was really challenged to regain my normal comfortable speaking and singing voice that I used without much consciousness. After seeing an ENT who assured me that I had no vocal fold damage, I sought vocal therapy which really started healing my voice and getting rid of the compensating behaviours I developed trying to teach with laryngitis. Your videos, in tandem with my therapy, are helping me become conscious of my voice, its resonance, and its physiology. I am really feeling a new excitement about my voice and my future ability to use it in a healthy and more effective way. Kudos to you. Keep up the great spirit and great lessons. So appreciate you for it.

    My teacher tells me to breath full capacity but when I do, and try to sing a low note still comes out high and I think that’s wrong 😑 she tells me she wants me to get my pitch accurate but breathing fully to me it’s wrong...
    Even breathing fully I feel tension that I don’t want all of the air coming out...
    And she’s like I have to tell my body no, to relax...
    With you, you show the wrong things and the right things, she doesn’t, she only tells me to do it...
    I understand you more than I understand my teacher

Here is my video on inhalation: Breathing Inhalation for Singing - Explained SIMPLY, CLEARLY, CORRECTLY! ruclips.net/video/qzrHSAFV-EM/видео.html. Of course, if you do not know how to support the escape of air when you sing, then you will still be out of breath and weak. Awesome explanation with such easy to understand demonstrations 👍🏻 I have a question on air. When do we release the resistance? As of now, I could resist but don’t know when to release it? I think I am deliberately trying to release the resistance toward the end of the phrase.

    • @Victoria-Victorious
      @Victoria-Victorious  3 года назад

      Thank you. Yes, you support (resist) to the end of the phrase. Of course, how much support depends on the style and sound you are singing. I explain this here: Supporting the Voice (Breath Support) - Why, When, How Much? ruclips.net/video/b27MFq1f0VM/видео.html

    I think there's a difference between taking a breath and holding it for a second before releasing, as Garcia advocated (the glottal attack) and just locking the body completely. Personally I find that closing the breath before releasing helps a lot.

    • @Victoria-Victorious
      @Victoria-Victorious  3 года назад +1

      Yes, some singers do this momentary suspension as an added step. I used to do that as a young singer, but all it did was make me tight. I don't teach this because I find that it just makes singers tight, squeezed and uncoordinated. If it works for you, however, great! :)

    If one has proper breath support, which solves problems in upper area, like releasing tension in throat, can he/she still have to worry about resonance?isnot resonance result of proper breath support and relief in face area?

    • @Victoria-Victorious
      @Victoria-Victorious  2 года назад +1

      No, resonance is more than just relieving tension, plus there is upper resonance and lower resonance. See my playlists on Resonance and also Better Tone Quality for more help. Go to my channel page and see my different playlists.

And the proper stand helped me to let the lower belly open and engaged when exhaling/singing and not to have hips locked. Big revelation😊🐛🦋
