Always loved that ending. The coldness of the Doctor and the fear in Amy...so dramatic! Of course, as everyone probably knows, you have an absolute belter of an episode next and I can't wait to see what you make of it
This is a neat episode but it definitely overshadowed by those final minutes. 16:31 The outfit Amy wears in this episode is the same one show wore in 6x01 (convenient!), which is apparently Flesh clothing, so it seems she was replaced during or before that episode. Given all the Silence and their memory wiping, it would actually have been pretty easy to replace her during that time and edit her memory to not even realize it had happened.
Much like the Silurian two-parter in S5, it's the curve-ball of an ending that kind of overshadows the decent episodes that preceded it. It's left quite vague when Amy was taken by the Silence, but it could have been just before they left to meet the Doctor in America, or (more likely) during the time that they are all separated and on the run between The Impossible Astronaut and Day of the Moon. The next episode was S6's mid-season finale, so... Expect some pretty big stuff.
Watching this as a kid when it came out was truly something special - the whole plot of the gangers and especially that ending scene is so poignant, really stuck in my head (also so excited for your reaction to next episode)
I never thought about it but is the Flesh here in anyway connected to the Flesh in New New York episode at the cat-nun hospital? Like different points in the evolution of this technology? Surely the name is not a coincidence.
I have a theory about this and how the Doctor knew about the Flesh...: Way back to the Library, when River sacrificed herself for the Doctor, we never saw her body. But the Doctor saw something.... So maybe he investigated it, but wasnt able to find River before Amy had been kidnapped... but he had enough information to find the Flesh... I'll just leave that there.
I really really dislike this episode because of the ending. The Doctor spends two episodes learning that the Flesh are essentially clones. They are living, thinking beings, with all the memories and thoughts of the ‘original’. So tell me why the Doctor then heartlessly pulls away from Amy’s Ganger at the end when she’s hugging him and tells Rory to move away so he can dissolve her. Yes, they needed to go and find ‘real’ Amy, but it completely undermines everything they (and we) just spent two episodes learning about the Flesh!
great reaction. you've gotta do the next two episodes as one reaction video. or at least release them back to back the next day because they're so connected
Loved your reaction as always. You should watch society of the snow. It's a great movie and I would love to hear what you have to say about that one. If you do watch it I recommend the original language with subtitles, the acting was amazing
What never made sense to me was that we spent the whole episode proving the realness of the doppelgänger and then destroyed the pretend Amy. They never said they shared an ongoing psychic bond while roaming (like the Sonoran clone and Martha). So popping the TARDIS Amy and having that consciousness be back in pregnant Amy was weird.
Name "Amy Pond". (Think back to "Jackson Lake" - red herring name to tease you.) What other names have you seen so far that are bodies of water? Review start of season 6. Repeat views of series 6 helps because it is so complex.
This will be an unpopular opinion - so don't mind me, you'll make up your own mind - but the end of this episode marks point from which the quality of stories goes steadily downhill from here (with a few remarkable exceptions along the way). Again, my own opinion, I know loads of people will disagree!
Amy has been 'gone' since before she first saw eye patch lady - which was in the Florida space episodes.

I was just blown away by the next episode "A Good Man Goes to War." What a freaking reveal!

Been waiting for the reaction to this ending. One of the most wild and messed up things to happen to a Nu Who companion.
these early S6 episodes build things really, from the next episode it goes into overdrive!!!! can't wait for your reactions as always!

I think she was swapped out in the White House toilet.
The Jennifer Lucas woman played a lesbian in the show At home with the Braithwaites in the 90's. And the dad was Peter Davison.
omg I cannot wait for the episode 7 reaction! It should be epic!!
So ive been binge watching and finally just caught up to my favorite story
