If we're playing that game, Kratos literally being baffled at Thor's power saying ''That's ridiculous!'' when Mimir told him Thor sent Jormungandr back in time is proof that Thor, and the Norse verse, is far stronger than the Greeks.

@@yokotubene it’s is a big feat considering only a few beings has ever actually killed kratos canonically in the first place. Kratos was holding back yes but so was Thor considering that he just needed to distract kratos so Odin could talk to Atreus in the first place.
@@huskyamethyst6541 Kratos still managed to beat Thor without using his rage. Even Baldur made Kratos use his rage to overpower him. Had Thor killed a bloodlusted Kratos, that would've been an impressive feat, but he didn't. In the second fight, Thor lost to Kratos fairly easily even though Thor was going all out while Kratos was STILL holding back.

Zeus is actually more powerful than kratos in strength, you forget one thing, kratos used strategy in weaken zeus before God of war 3, by stabbing zeus with the blade of olympus zeus become so weak that kratos could match strenght with him, you can confirm this by just watching their fight in gow 2 and by listen to what he told gaia
Zeus would absolutely dogwalk Thor, and he wouldn't need to give it his all to do it. As for Kratos, we have developer statements confirming he is holding back *at all times* in GoW and GoW: Ragnarok. In *every* fight. Yes, including the one where he handed Thor his ass.

You should really provide *feats.* Idle chatter doesn't prove anything except the lack of evidence you're willing to show. The top comment states Zeus survived being stabbed MULTIPLE times by the Blade of Olympus, presumably the strongest weapon in GoW because ANOTHER comment mentions Freya admitting that the Greek pantheon was far more gifted with magic.
Said developer statements literally confirm that Odin is the biggest threat in the entire franchise and that Kratos’s spartan skills will be tested like never before. Thor is stated in Kratos’s codex that his attacks is more heavy and powerful than he’s ever felt. Thor dog walks Zeus. Cory Barlog confirmed that Old Kratos beats Young Kratos
@@liammcguire1954 Yeah, no. They outright said Odin wasn't as powerful as Zeus. You're right about the codex and Cory Barlog saying old Kratos is more powerful than young Kratos, however. That being said, there's a difference between having heavy blows and being the most powerful. Thor has a ton of brute strength. Zeus had literal cosmic power at his disposal on top of being every bit as physically strong as old Kratos is now.

Sorry, but Kratos is NEVER going all out in new gen games, as stated by devs. Zeus, if not weakened in GoW 2, leading up to the climax of 3, would have obliterated Kratos in that final fight, even with Kratos trying his hardest. Let's be real, if Kratos lost control, he would solo Asgard in a day.
Probably around two to three hours at the shortest, longest would be around twenty some plus hours?

Thor isn't even in the same realm of power as someone like Zeus maybe Ares or Poseidon but that's is as far as he can go in the Greek world.
Ares would just step on him, thats very clear from his GoW 1 + Novel feats and depiction.
He is not close to POSEIDON either...Poseidon is a elder god much like Zeus and Hades...he would mash Thor

That is Marvel versions, not real mythology. The nordic gods live forever as well until Ragnarök.
@@hurmur9528 Nordic gods were never immortal. They ate apples of Idunn that extended their life spans far beyond normal. They just live for a really long time (they do got a bit longer than a few thousand years). But, Idunn is fated to die during Ragnarok. Meaning the ones that do survive will be completely mortal.
If we are going to use myths, Thor’s mother, Jord, is the giant goddess of the Earth. She would be Gaia to the Greeks. So Thor would be Zeus’s uncle, due to Thor being brothers with Chronos. Do with that knowledge what you like.

@@adriansmith6717 Zeus’s mother is Rhea, who was technically Cronos’s sister. Gaia is Cronos’s mother. Jord would have been Gaia. That would make Thor Cronos’s half brother.

I think it's debatable on Thor killing Kratos Because it looked like he was knocked out rather than killed. Not only that, when you've been hit by The hammer, you're not left in one piece. The hammer has enough destructive force to split the Earth and for critics.Get hit by it and not have a skull cracked or Head smashed makes you think he was knocked out. 10:10

He was dead. The death screen overlay even began to come in before Thor said "hell nah you aint allowed to die yet!" and defibrillated him with the lightning from Mjolnir.

As much as the marvel fans would love to say thor, reality is Zeus would win. God of gods is a title even us humans sometimes boast of our god though it’s a bit hypocritical. Zeus commanded the primordials beings who created everything, destroyed the titans. As Greek mythology goes with each offspring the power goes up, clearly that isn’t the same in Norse since Odin is superior to thor. And thors children aren’t shit, whereas kratos at magni and modis age WHILE BEING A MORTAL, was feared through the lands. Zeus commanded being who created existence while Odin was fiddling around with a mask to find out what will happen. Besides as mimir himself said, the powers of a Norse god is far lesser than that of the Greeks as time manipulation knocked his imaginary legs off.
They followed his command out of respect as they thought that's how it should be.Nyx and Erebus are untouchable to they point people didn't even make up lots of stories about them cause the stories would suck with such unrelatable entities.
If you actually read the greek myths, each generation is weaker, not stronger. the greek gods usurped the titans via treachery. the titans were weaker than the primordials. The next generation after the greek gods was man, who was destined to overthrow the gods. To postpone that, zeus did some fuckery and placed curses upon the newborn race to weaken them and make them struggle more to achieve their destiny. All of greek myth is a slow degredation from the original powers, with each one being overthrown not by stronger, but more cunning creatures. Prometheus was punished cause fire was the first step towards usurping the gods.

Thor isn't so much a god as he is a very powerful being whose power is enhanced by mjolnir. His power to manipulate lightning is his only godly trait.
He is dumb, easily manipulated, emotionally unstable, submissive, driven to drink at the alightest of verbal abuses, he is also broken, probably Odin's doing. He is a step or two above baldur in terms of cranial capacity. He is a blunt tool.
Zeus, on the other hand, more befots the description of a god in GoW universe. TBH, even Odin probably won't last more than a few minutes against Zeus.
In the greek saga, Zeus outsmarted, out muscled and outmatched Kratos, and wven killed him a time or two... None of the norse "gods" are even much of a threat... actually, the valkaries were probably the closest beings to be considered as a legitimate threat ro Kratos, and they're not even considered gods.

Zeus is the king of the gods and from his feats and what he capable of, he is definitely strongest god we’ve seen so far. Zeus is the king of the gods for a good reason and there’s a reason why he respected by many gods and mortals. The Norse gods are strong too, but not against another pantheons that are able of wielding way more powerful magic than them and have way more primordial beings.

In actual norse mythology thor is the strongest being to ever exist, the second place goes to vidarr odinsonn, thors little brother and odins secondborn. Vidarr is not mentioned a lot but he is the god who kills fenrir during ragnarok after fenrir killed odin, vidarr is the silent god of vengance and my favorite god

Odin is more powerful in magic than Thor and also much smarter and wiser while also having the gift of sight. it wouldn't be surprising for him to be more powerful than Thor overall.

Kratos was never serious about fighting Thor in the game. Kratos is at his best when he's The Ghost of Sparta, something he struggles to become because he regrets his past. Kratos defeated Thor without giving into his old self while he not only was his old self when he defeated Zeus but needed the Blade of Olympus to do so until the very, very end.

At around 9:30-9:45 minutes in? I had half a mind to do some in depth research on the "Titans" and "Primordials" to make a TTRPG setting that brought them back as the Big Deities, with the "Gods" still young and not quite in power, if most of them even existed at all yet. (Or alternate world where some of the Titans escaped or already lived in that the Gods never touched, allowing them to do whatever there.)... Could be a fun idea.
One idea was that Gaia (the Planet herself, by whatever name you want to give her) was ONE of the top tier Titans, and she had to hold herself BACK so she didn't accidentally obliterate all life on her surface, and only one or two other Titans (Maybe other Planets themselves) were stronger or equal. Just ideas mostly. I mean if the planet exists, and has so many interpretations as a Titan or a Goddess, it would make sense that she would not go all out if she truly cared about the live living on her surface... Or maybe if destroyed would explain why the planet had only so long to live (Even if it was billions of years before burning out?). Wild ideas and lore that I think could totally be worked on by someone more organized and well-researched than I am, perhaps?

It's one of the themes in the entire two games of this soft reboot... not repeating past sins. Kratos starts to get a little angry and snaps Balder's neck instantly; Kratos gets a little angry and immediately puts Thor in his place. The Norse gods are not the threat in this game... Kratos degenerating back to who he was is the threat.

Take your own advice.
One small detail I wanted to point out. Yeah, Thor killed all the Giants, but you called the Giants warriors when they definitely weren't. It's even stated in the game a few times that they weren't a warrior race. They were arcticians, curators and a people of peace. But warriors, they were not. Which is why they went into hiding in the first place and fought to survive rather than stay, fight, and be killed off entirely.
God of War Thor vs God of War Hercules or Greek Kratos vs Norse Kratos.
If you look at it, another way to compare the strengths between the Norse gods and the Greek gods is in how they die, and I don't mean them just dying to Kratos. But most if not all of the Greek gods cause a devastating catastrophe that shifts the order of the natural realm they govern, such as the souls of the dead not being bound to Hades once Hades dies, to Poseidon causing an enormous flood. We could even say that Thanatos the god of death's catastrophe was Kratos' wrath against the gods, eloquently put by Zeus calling him "Death, the destroyer of worlds".
Yet when a Norse god dies, they just...die. No explosions that shift in the natural order, no huge catastrophes, no huge explosion. They just fall over and die, like any mortal would.
So if the Greek gods can hold that level of power to cause that much devastation when they die, then comparing the Norse gods to the Greek would be like comparing A bag of grapes to an entire vineyard. We're using the same fruit, but on a very different scale.

Thor and Odin *together* are barely even on Poseidon's level, let alone Zeus
Poseidon literally took out 2 Titans just by *entering* the fight and it took the tagteam of Gaia and Kratos ,with maxed out stats and upgrades from the end of GoW 2, to pull in a *clutch* victory.
Now take Zeus who managed to one-shot Kratos and Gaia off the mountain at the beginning of GoW 3 *right after* they killed Poseidon.
And keep in mind, this is a Zeus that was still recovering from the multiple stabs from the Blade of Olympus he took at the end of the previous game.
And even then Zeus was a *tough* basterd.
I’ve never played GOW but all I know is that the by feats in myths, the Greek Pantheon is far stronger than the Norse.
And the Egyptian Pantheon is just on another level above.🤓
Still Zeus could not stop Kratos. That is kind of lousy since Kratos is from that universe and Zeus should be allmighty.

It is generally accepted that the newer, wiser Kratos is far stronger than the GoW3 Kratos. However, he never uses his full potential. He is always holding back. Therefore the the the Kratos of the original trilogy was actually stronger... as we played as him. I think where a lot of people are confused is that since the 2018 GoW and Ragnarok are newer, Kratos HAS to be more powerful, and he is... but we as players never get to use any of it. The newer Kratos is never going full out as he did. I hope this makes sense.
If MCU Thor then yes Zeus wins but if Ruin King Thor then good by Zeus.

I don't know much about Greek mythology, but what I can say for certain is GOW Thor, despite being a significantly more accurate portrayal than most media depictions of him, is definitely weaker than his mythological counterpart, at least from what we see in game.
Mythological Thor could level entire mountain ranges with a single strike, he took on armies of giants as his hobby, he fought multiple times with a serpent so large could circle the entire earth and still bite its own tail, even with all of Odin's magic and cunning Thor could likely take him in a fight. Even after being bitten by Jormangander, he still takes nine thunderous steps before he finally dies during Ragnarok. He could summon humongous storms and hurricanes, and cause major flooding.
GOW Thor is definitely weaker than his true mythological counterpart
The only Titans who Zeus shot down at the great war was Cronos and Atlas. The other where in a limbo at time because Kratos took them to the future, so for those titans the great war event just jumped to gow 3 begining
The reason Thor couldn’t beat Odin isn’t because he wasn’t strong enough. It’s because Odin had literally brainwashed Thor his entire life. There would be no mental warfare against Thor in a fight with Zeus. Zeus wins I think but it’s a much closer fight than people are saying.

I think Thor is more physically powerful than Zeus, but Zeus is overall so much more powerful that it doesn’t even matter.
Kratos vs Omniman
One thing I would give Thor as well, and this might fall into the combat prowess side of things, but between the two, he's the only one who's beat Kratos in a fair fight. Zeus only killed Kratos when he was already half dead and barely able to defend himself. That being said Zeus absolutely wins this fight. He may not have the same raw power as thor, but he more than makes up for it with his magical ability.

1) If you read the codex you know Kratos said Thor’ strikes were as heavy as any AND that his hammer made them heavier.
If we include the strike Kratos delivered to himself with the Blade of Olympus, which shattered the Power of Hope (a power that completely eclipses anything Zeus could muster); Thor could literally one shot Zeus with a critical hit to the dome.
2) Lightening can def hurt Zeus. Kratos was shown capable of using Cronos’ lightening against Zeus in their first real fight and dealt damage.
3) Kratos couldn’t hold back on Thor in their second fight, because Thor kept threatening Atreus’ life. Which was the kinda thing to trigger Kratos.

It's true Zuez and Thor are insane powerhouses. Now the part mentioning domiating Kratos is just a sneak attack nothing more. It only counts as domination if both parties clash head on and one pushes over the other which Kratos did as Zuez was no longer able to use sneak attacks. Thor made it look like he's stronger only because as he kept going on about Kratos was holding back. His punches to Thor's face at the start of the fight were not the same as the last punch that knocked a tooth out of Thor's mouth.

Zeus died to being pummeled to death, Thor got stabbed through the heart by Odin's Gungnir. I feel like Thor would eat Zeus out of sheer hunger. Thor was obviously fighting drunk and never seemed motivated fighting Kratos.

Well actually God of war Zeus is pretty close planetary destruction level in power scaling.
However if it's simply marvel's MCU Chris Hemsworth with The Odin force, I don't know Because MCU Thor can hold and control Lightning at will thanks to the Odin force..but if this is blood lusted God of war Zeus wins because I think the blade of Olympus does way more damage than mjnoir or storm breaker.

Kratos never time traveled to get to the Norse realms the fallen gods comic said he was Roaming the earth for about 500 years through Egypt. The comics also proves he was dragged into Midgard by two wolves. The mythology gods are not multiversal they are city to planetary depending on feats. Kratos is not the most powerful character in gow it's actually Athena and Thoth who sit in the twilight realm as watchers of earth.
