Dream Team is my favorite. It came out during a time when I was ready to be amazed by a video game. Amazing music, lovely graphics, love the battle system I’ve never seen the bros as expressive out and in battle, and the directional dodges/counters. Not only that but Luigination is such an innovative mechanic and I don’t know any other game that replicates the endless possibilities and power of Dreamy Luigi. And oh man once, “Victory In the Dream World” at at te playing you really do feel so invincible, like you’re in control of everything and in Luigi’s dream he and Mario can’t possibly lose

It's going to be awkward baby steps (the light abruptness of the intro, the dialogue chatter, etc) but hopefully they'll take our comments to heart and go on from there. 19:54 So uh, you probably heard that from me, but having gone through the game files I've since discovered it's actually supposed to be "buriburi" which is the sound of either like, huffing angrily, or the sound of being... plump. So in the newest installment of wind waker, Nintendo thought "screw link, mario bros good, in this clean weather!" and thought it was a great idea to make the plumbers kill any 14 existing universes just by holding the hands it's not many, but, meanwhile, apparently connectar (means conecting in some places) is the key to the solution, now we have some big questions ahead? I do agree with the feeling of an missing act. There's not much of an intro to this new place. Like a peaceful one. Plus the "intro" is quiet, as in no one talks until we get to the new world. And no chance to really get use to the control, you're just kinda thrown in. And to top it off, there's no simple boss to face.
Nice to break up the formula IMO, especially since the simple boss was usually just a basic enemy with a coat of Bowser paint. Not to say it wasn't iconic, but they changed too little about that formula throughout all the old games to not get stale. I'm also fine that it just throws you in with minimal tutorials, I DON'T NEED the super basic tutorials to be spread throughout the game's runtime, just tell me it all as soon as I can access it in the game, instead of waiting for me to get to an elevated ledge and the tutorial to go: "Don't forget you can JUMP Mario! I know I could've told you this when I was explaining the other controls but oh well!" So this is also a welcome change.
I like that Luigi got the introduction that Mario usually gets off screen and has snoutlet (the usual floating navi). Interesting way to start the game. I feel it keeps the pacing up when compared to somethin like Pillow Island. I'll say too having the speed up button for text, tutorial prompts you can mash through with no OOT owl yes or no BS makes this game much better than most of the series. Interested to see how later battles go.
19:21 i feel like mario's eyesight would probably be beyond fixing at this point. having to constantly look at stars and shine sprites in multiple games probably doesn't do your eyesight any favors
I didn’t have a problem with slower battling in the 3DS games, since I’m in no rush when enjoying a game. I didn’t even notice a marked difference in the pacing of enemy encounters. Heck, I even did grinding and Expert Challenges, but it was all in good fun. Though I’m self-aware enough to admit I’m probably biased due to nostalgia.
In today's episode, I wonder if a drinking game where I take a shot every time this LP says something along the lines of "this isn't like Superstar Saga" or "Thousand Year Door did it better" is going to be good for my everything.
20:40 The look on Mario's face as he looks a Luigi. "This is going to suck so bad, bro. 😰" (How convenient. I didn't realize that I had that exact emoji)
The battles are just too slow. Too many encounters, with too many enemies at once, and you don't really have good ways to dispose of those groups of enemies, short of really long and motion controlled Bros. attacks. Also, tutorials.
I loved Dream Team, it's my favorite Mario and Luigi game with it's music, areas and more. I hope this game would bring me back to the feels of it. I already have hope knowing it takes place on a island like Dream Team.
@@ramarriblevinsjones5709I think you'll enjoy it. It's kinda like Dream Team with a hint of SSS since regular attacks are basically the Bros attacks from that game. No giant battles tho if you were into that
@@montecristosmith2343 I liked the giant bosses but it's fine. The style of this game reminds me about them from Dream Team and Paper Jams mega fights. I'm getting the game tomorrow.
Wanna know what grinds my gears? I barely started and am at rumbla island too. The problem? In batle, you pick the moves and target for both bros with "A" Usually, luigi's picks would use B but nope, screw that apparently
Dream Team had its issues but I'd put it at #2 behind BiS personally. I feel like the battle system was at its best, especially the dream world ones where you could walk around and face multiple directions when countering attacks. As a result I think it had easily the best bosses in the franchise (only BiS really comes close there). It definitely suffered from padding, but I think the island was a nice change of scenery, the dream stuff produced some neat gameplay elements, and it helped that the music was at or close to the series' best as well. Personally, SS felt a little too easy for my liking, the battle system was pretty basic, and there were some issues that I felt could have been smoothed out had it been a DS entry. The weird difficulty curve in the final boss also puzzled me. Still a great game but I think it gets a bit overrated due to being the first one. I like the idea of PiT more than I like the game itself, I guess. I love the concept of having both sets of Bros and the time gimmick is cool. I also liked how it wasn't afraid to go darker than the other titles in the series. But the gameplay suffers from excessively linear progression, a mediocre battle system, and bosses that are basically damage sponges. I still love the game but it's definitely the black sheep in the original trilogy. PJ was a disappointment for many reasons that people have covered over and over, but I think my enjoyment of the game was still a net positive overall just because the battle system was very well executed.
I really do not like the "walking arout" thing in Dream Team. Fun concept, but not when regular enemies use attacks like that as well, which extends the already far too plentiful battles even further. Would've been fine if it was for bosses only, but it wasn't.
1:09 I mean, if you've played super mario odyessey, this seems like a 1:1 recreation of the mushroom kingdom. Which is strange because how would anyone ever go from the castle to main land? (probably what the pipes are for... wait. a possible connection to that one scene in the mario movie? How deep does this rabbit hole go?)
From the short bit I've played (up until like half of the first island i think, idk how long each one is) the battles aren't like, overbearingly slow, and tbh I feel like they had to be slower at one point in development considering enemies basically snap to the middle of the screen to attack but DO have interpolation to that position, meaning it was likely a choice they made at some point to speed battles up in some form.
Aw hell naw. Dream team was goated. It was slow as hell and had to many tutorials but aside from that it was peak! Also PIT is an amazing game. It may have a jank bros attack system but it still had great story, battles, soundtrack, and a new concept of controlling 4 bros. Dont dis PIT and Dream team like that. Paper jam was kinda mid tho. Still a decent game. Edit: bro what’s with the dream team hate? It’s such a good game. You probably need to play it again and really just appreciate how fun and amazing it is.
@@Skawo yeah the desert was pretty bad with how much puzzle there was in it. some portions do feel very long but the game is still good. There is so much more to the game and you cant get the full picture if you just stop there. i get it tho
I have played the game enough times (at least 3 playthroughs) that I think I do get the full picture, though. I had cancelled an LP of it during Dreamy Sands. I would end up recording for hours on end, just to end up with like 30 minutes of usable video once the battles were cut out. It was just too much.
...yeah, I hope you were expecting dream team fans to disagree with your takes. which is 100% fine! everyone has their opinions and it's okay to share them as long as disagreements don't go too far. 17:48 What, you *don't* like the sound of rattling skeletons playing when the game displays text? That aside, the IGN review did bring my excitement down a notch. People say to not put too much stock into reviews (especially ones from notorious publications), but I couldn't shake the fact that their critiques had sound reasoning behind them, reasoning that feels more evident now that I've seen this video (and the unlisted one you've posted). It seems like a lot of things that could've gone wrong, have gone wrong. I'll still try to get my hands on this game in one way or another to try it for myself.
While I'm not sure if I agree with your assessment of the 3DS games (moreso because I haven't played Dream Team yet and only played Paper Jam up to Twinsy Tropics before my save got eaten during the 3DS transfer process), but I can understand what you mean. I feel like part of it, at least from the perspective of the Bros Moves is due to that bug that bits most developers: As the graphics get fancier, you get the urge to make flashier moves which, in-turn, take longer. A good example I was only recently made aware of are Fighting games. ... Also, if I had a nickel for every time a Switch Mario game opened with Mario getting teleported to another place, well, you know how that joke goes.
I can't watch much beyond the first few minutes since I want to experience the game myself but won't be able to get the game until later down the line, so good luck with the playthrough. Any first impressions on the game so far? Personally, I have at least enjoyed every game in the series (except BIS 3DS which I didn't buy), I imagine I'll have some fun here.
2:32 2 brothers trying to hold hand while traveling through some weird magic tunnel, then the green brothers exists the tunnel the red one is going though? i already saw this in theartes
To be honest, I agree that things started to derail at Dream Team. *Started* though- it was still a solid game and a somewhat decent entry to the series. It was around Paper Jam where things really went off the rails.
To be fair, at least Dream Team 's better than Paper Jam. Dream Team had some memorable characters and interesting worlds. Paper Jam's world feels bland in comparison to it.
I've had this cautious-optimism that the game would be fun and that a lot of reviewer publications are being too harsh with it (IGN being a stunning example of it) would you say you share a lot of criticism with what they said?
I do have to agree with IGN's "boring" comment, unfortunately, for a long as I have played (which is not that long, but still). Way too often the game is just like ruclips.net/video/8PzczYzn0v8/видео.html You get the first Bros. Items about 4 hours into the game. That's four hours of using nothing but jump.
Just based on the first episode, I have a hunch that you'll be siding with IGN's review by calling it 'mediocre.' Maybe the Mario and Luigi series just isn't for you?
After watching this video, i'm kind of starting to have doubts about this game. At first with all the references they were making to the other games in the series and how varied the npcs and locations were, I thought this game would be a little more decent, but i'm having second thoughts because I noticed that the attack animations and transitions are super exaggerated and long as well as the transitions, and the theme seems just so "meh". In this game it seems like the main motif is centered around Mario and Luigi working together as brothers and that they have a strong bond, but wasn't that what all of Superstar Saga was about, as well as what across the series they've made a big deal, like dream's deep from DT, or the star gate scene from PiT, or the Shroob Post-Battle and Sockop Luigi scenes from BIS? I mean here it just seems like that's all it has going for it, like this is something new. And on top of that, the sail system just reminds me of a worse version of the Time Hole Mechanic from PiT, mainly because it feels so sluggish and not more instantaneous like the latter. There IS a fast sail option but it still looks like its just a super sluggish thing, especially with how many times you'll have to use it, and I heard this game has a 30+ Hour runtime, that really worries me for how it could impact the pacing. And while the games npcs and guide look promising, i've heard that the game has basically the same objectives, like "help the npcs on this island, then beat the boss, repeat", which sounds dull on it's own, and I don't know the rest. Also, I think as a new low, you can't even control Luigi anymore, because he moves on his own unlike how in the last 5 games you could always control Luigi AND Mario, and heck, even the original SS had you splitting between him and Mario for certain sections or even playing as him in the front. If that's true, then that's a terrible downgrade compared to the other games. Personally, I like the first 4 games the most. (Paper Jam to me just feels too generic and mission-based) And I liked the series so far, but this to me just feels like it could be really underwhelming. And people can say what they want about the issues any of those games had, but even they weren't THAT bad. I just have a bad feeling about this one which is why I want to see a playthrough to see if it's even worth buying because right now i'm not so sure. Especially at full price. I know that was a lot but I just wanted to put that out there since that's how I felt as a long-time M&L fan. If you agree or disagree with any of this that's ok, but this is just my opinion.
Skawo officially exposed as a FAKE European by calling it Dream Team instead of Dream Team Bros Hold on, is this the first game with a 3D Kamek recolor? Every other time was either Paper Mario or straight up 2D games like previous M&L
From seeing everything in the trailers this game seemed like it would almost be perfect but as more got out the cracks were starting to show. Slightly disappointed this game might be like DT but should be a fun enough experience the first time through. If anything, the first area not taking 3 hours (or 10 depending on how you view DT's structure) is a minor relief.

Yes. The "making it flashier" thing is a problem for sure, because then that animation plays 8000 times in a playthrough, and it gets super old.
Dream Team seems to be a pretty polarizing game considering the differing opinions of you and your comments section.
The abrupt intro reminds me of Sparks of Hope's intro/ending
Here's to hoping that the game will be good-
I can't watch much beyond the first few minutes since I want to experience the game myself but won't be able to get the game until later down the line, so good luck with the playthrough.
Any first impressions on the game so far? Personally, I have at least enjoyed every game in the series (except BIS 3DS which I didn't buy), I imagine I'll have some fun here.
Not overly positive.
So far there is way too many segments like this:

So this is basically Super Mario Galaxy crossed with Wind Waker?
20:31 cmon mario you already shot yourself though a cannon, dont be so scared
7:18 OH NO
NO NO NO NO NO WE ARE NOT DOING DREAMS DEEP AGAIN.
STOP.
STOP IT!!!!!!
MARIO PLEASE DONT DO THIS!!!!!!!!
NNNOOOOOOOOOO
2:32 2 brothers trying to hold hand while traveling through some weird magic tunnel, then the green brothers exists the tunnel the red one is going though? i already saw this in theartes
19:23 Really high stache stat there
To be honest, I agree that things started to derail at Dream Team. *Started* though- it was still a solid game and a somewhat decent entry to the series. It was around Paper Jam where things really went off the rails.
21:04 I mean it's not like we can stop an entire island
Textbox voices would be infinitely more tolerable if the sound clips played _one third as frequently_ at the very least
To be fair, at least Dream Team 's better than Paper Jam. Dream Team had some memorable characters and interesting worlds. Paper Jam's world feels bland in comparison to it.
I don't understand the divisiveness of PiT, I personally liked it
I’m currently out at sea, and I don’t have an internet package, so while I can comment, I can’t watch videos. I’ll be back in about 2 days.
7:52 first strike and end battle
I love Dream Team but it would be so much better if it weren't so slow. It's a shame since that ends up being a turnoff for a lot of people.
How about we bring back the owl counter you did it with all the other mario and luigi games
That'll be there. Nothing has yet been said that would count, though.
Wait, it’s already out?
I thought this game came out tomorrow, but okay (in an hour more like)
What would happen to TTYD let's play?
Nothing, just going to be on hold for about a week, and then resume updating normally.
ITS OUT?!?!?
wish i can be british so i can get this game as fast as i could 😔
I've had this cautious-optimism that the game would be fun and that a lot of reviewer publications are being too harsh with it (IGN being a stunning example of it) would you say you share a lot of criticism with what they said?
I do have to agree with IGN's "boring" comment, unfortunately, for a long as I have played (which is not that long, but still).
Way too often the game is just like

You get the first Bros. Items about 4 hours into the game.
That's four hours of using nothing but jump.
What was wrong with Dream Team exactly
Too many encounters, with too many enemies, with overly long animations and attacks.
Also, tutorials.
Just based on the first episode, I have a hunch that you'll be siding with IGN's review by calling it 'mediocre.'
Maybe the Mario and Luigi series just isn't for you?
Well, they used to be.
The brothers not going "Nintendo!" is the first flag of the DT path
How did you got the game early?
The game is already out.
@@SkawoNot for me it come out next day
...it already IS next day here. Timezones, bro.
Guess I will have to avoid Spoiler for a while
This whole thing feels kinda sluggish honestly. I can appreciate the animations and everything but not if they bring the entire game to a crawl...
The PiT diss in first 10 seconds is crazy…but overall bro W gameplay
Bro, please finish TTYD 😭
It will be finished, no worries.
Truly the deltarune chapter 2 of mario & luigi
Oh this is going to be such a dumpster fire, I cant wait🗣🗣
lol, at least Dream Team got mentioned, Paper Jam just don't exist for you huh.
I put PJ in there originally, but the textbox ended up a bit too long :v
Skawo officially exposed as a FAKE European by calling it Dream Team instead of Dream Team Bros
Hold on, is this the first game with a 3D Kamek recolor? Every other time was either Paper Mario or straight up 2D games like previous M&L
If I called it "Bros.", there would just be confused americans everywhere in this comment section :v
