I remember your first reaction, to the Armenian song. It is an odd first song, a beautiful song. But definitely does not show his range like SOS does or Stranger, Olympico, Sinful Passion, Love is Like a Dream, Your Love, Unforgettable Day. Most of the songs I just listed are ballad types (not all) but they do showcase his great vocal range in different languages. I love SOS because it not only shows his vocal range, but vocal styles/genres too. This song has opera technique, pop style, belting, softness/breathiness. He sings this song at every concert, its one of his staple songs. Some people say he's over dramatic, but I think its the perfect amount of drama. You ask how does he do it? Long years of practice and study, a bit of talent from god/nature, but mostly long years of practice. The voice classifications you are thinking of, for men is Base, Baritone, Tenor, Countertenor. For women Alto, Contralto, Mezzo-Soprano and Soprano. Both sets are from low to high. When Dimash normally sings he usually goes anywhere from Baritone to Soprano. He can dip into Base and he can go higher than Soprano (which is in whistle territory). He doesn't like to classify his voice like that, but trying to explain it to someone new or doesn't really have a lot of music knowledge, its easier. If you ever watch a vocal coach and they talk about what note he is singing, its usually based off the piano. Dimash can basically sing the piano and off the piano. Lol.
