    As someone with a cousin who had a female stalker that literally came into his mother's house and got into his bed while he was asleep and got laughed at by the police when he reported it, it's seriously disgusting how our police/media/society treat stalking victims if they happen to have been born with testicles

      Yeah female victims don't get much better treatment. Maybe the police don't laugh in their faces, but the general attitude is that the police can't/won't do anything until a person has been violent... Which is obviously way too late... We don't have a way to really deal with stalking legally. I think that stalkers should be committed or forced to get therapy.

    • @thomascross8339
      @thomascross8339 25 дней назад

      @@MsSphinx91 the people you are supposed to call for help laughing in your face and not even taking your safety seriously isn't objectively worse treatment. Yeah right. Nah, you're just adding another layer of sexism onto it by downplaying a victim's safety because this happens to have been born with testicles and therefore matters less or not at all. There's no epidemic of women assaulting each other in our Prisons that's used as a punchline and there's a reason why the only public apology "The View" had to issue was regarding a joke about men being sexually assaulted. Most male victims refuse to even discuss it because of how rare it is to even be taken seriously. Ask a psychologist.

      If that were true, they wouldn’t have gotten an actress who looks exactly like her and had her speak in an Irish accent. They easily could’ve had the Martha character look and speak differently than the real person, since those things aren’t important to the story of her being a stalker. It’s obvious that they wanted people to know it was her.

    This was so well done on every level! I wasn't sure if I could watch, as I had a stalker for 16 years. My situation was completely different because I had no idea of my stalker's identity for the first nine months to one year. Also, my stalking started in 1999-2000, when I was 30 and social media wasn't a thing. At the time, most had a cell phone, a landline, and pay phones were still around. When he started stealing my trash from the curb, my neighbors recorded him. I recognized him as a former regular customer from my parents' bar, where I worked occasionally. He was 48 years old. I'd previously reported the thousands of calls, emails, surveillance and following me to the police to no avail. The police couldn't do anything about him taking my trash-then calling my landline listening to my outgoing voice recording hundreds of times all day long, while he played with my trash-while I was at work. In the US, it's not a crime to take someone's trash from the curb intended for disposal. After several months, my finally dad had a special Italian gentleman friend make the guy an offer he couldn't refuse. It seemingly worked for awhile. Eventually, I regularly "ran" into my stalker during errands, at events, waiting at stop lights, few times a year for 14 more years...until he died. The guy always finangled a way to talk, asked me out repeatedly, and always insisted I take his phone number. It was creepy af...but, I was too scared to confront him. My gut instinct was to get away from him as quickly as possible. I told myself the "chance" meetings" were just coincidences because that was the only way I could continue to live somewhat normally. I think my stalker was determined that continue no matter the consequences-he didn't fear the mob, why would he obey the police. As he had anger control and alcohol addiction issues, I truly believe things could've ended much worse if I'd handled it differently. Unless someone has been in that situation, it's impossible to predict your behavior.

He said from the beginning the real Martha did not go to jail but it was resolved and they were not to have contact with each other. One of the most important questions Pierce asked her was about her upbringing. That’s where the key to all this is. CLEARLY SHE IS NOT WELL. She’s got a very complex diagnosis. Along with that, she’s not doing herself any favors on her Facebook currently as we speak (which she DOES still have and is public), constantly posting (hmmm, 41k emails seems more and more plausible). But it’s true, took very little for me to find the article of the Daily Record where she outed herself (anonymously at first) as the real “Martha Scott”. It’s fascinating her perspective even comparing this to the Depp vs Heard trial, but she sees herself as Johnny Depp being harrassed with falsehoods by Gadd (as in he’s the Amber Heard in all this). She’s just so MEAN spirited in refuting her claims. Takes shots even at the actress who portrays her. I realize it’s part of the illness, but wow every chance she says something by petty.

    In regards to why didn't Piers present evidence. She probably had conditions about her coming onto the show . It's not a police interview. Piers and his team knew it would be a hot interview. So they i expect they have pre agreed certain conditions

    I’m determined not to be an internet sleuth on this BUT I recently saw a newspaper article about one of the guys suspected of being the ‘real’ Darien…. To my shock I realised that it was someone I’d met! Back in 2001 (I’m an older Spillio) I was invited to London to pitch a sitcom idea. I was put up in a hotel and had an extensive meeting with my co-writer buddy and THIS DUDE! He didn’t like the script (it WAS bad) but he did like us! It might not be him…. But I briefly felt like I’d stepped into a cultural zeitgeist moment…😂.
    This is a fascinating story for many reasons as you guys have discussed. Interestingly, I also read that Gadd is already a millionaire due to savvy investments even before the show. If you watch videos of his comedy - he’s not nearly as terrible as he presents himself in the production. There are elements of exaggeration to the show for sure (as with any drama like this) but Netflix maybe made a misstep by leading with ‘THIS IS A TRUE STORY’ rather than ‘based on’ and there are serious discussions in the UK at the moment on wether Netflix took due care to change the details enough to obscure the real people involved. Definitely not as stringent as the BBC or ITV. Netflix is the Wild West of tv 🤠.
    Anyway, at face-value, I loved the drama. A great piece of TV work.

    Sorry to say but She gives me all the Vibe of No' don’t encourage her, she call Rich “Crazy, calls him gay, claim “she Was just joking when she Said “This” the usual bs spiel. denying and focusing on the wrong things, she even said he just imagined his "Gr@pe"!? she give the same vibe of spins truth around in her favor she give me vibe straight out of her portrayal in the show.
    Rich was very self critical in the show. Make to light how they ‘no one was the villain. Just incredible Flawed people in need of help. Netflix prob fabricate some scenarios but the feelings are there and being Rich creative Outlet.
    yeah He Could' Release the emails she wrote But that would Be 'engaging with her Again! and even if he proofed it with the emails , that will give her power again. She wanna see the Cards, what she can fabricate out of them make it work in her’ favor. Toxic People have a “Way” denying, point out flaws or turn it the story so they' have no Flaws. But as the show points out there often are no “Perfect victim”.
    She challenges him to release proof. But personally’ He does not owe her anything. If the story is true he does not need to let her in’ Again.
    I’m sorry she is getting harassed IRL, I wouldn’t wish that on her when she clearly needs Mental help.
    but he gave her a fake name, she could deny her identity like when people thought They Found Rich’s “gr@pist”. Rich did not tell people her identity. people are just google ninjas!... she choose' herself! to make herself’ public with this interview!
