I will never forget the first time I watched it was a year after Michael Jackson passed away. Of all the things they could have aired as tribute, moonwalker, the making of thriller, the 3 hour video retrospective that VH1 did on this man in 1999. No they chose this abomination. The one thing I will give this movie and that I agree with the boys is that they did Joe Jackson right cuz that man was the devil
@@jdrvargo287You call it child abuse but back in the day it was called keeping your children in line.. You guys grew up in a soft society where your children don't have no directions in life.. Joe Jackson may not be perfect but the man was heavily involved in his children's life.. Hate it or love it.. I seen a video where Asian Parents made their 8 year old lift wood on his shoulders while stretching his legs.. We are building men with discipline!
I remember watching this biopic when I was around 6 or 7 on BET. Rewatching this as an adult feels more like a movie from Tubi man. Shit don't get me wrong I love my boy Flex since One on One but damn…Wish they did him more justice
Which is funny considering the Lifetime movie about Michael that that came out later in 2017 "Searching for Neverland" is a lot more better than this trainwreck 😂😂 That had passion and care while this "movie" was a complete joke. Practically a parody of an icon.
They did show it on vh1😂. I remember when Michael first died they were showing all the reruns, I was laughing so hard I started to cry again and got mad because when this movie was made Michael was still alive 😩
The late Wylie Draper who played Michael Jackson (late teens/adult years) in "The Jacksons:An American Dream" (1992) was the best. Jermaine Jackson's son, Jaafar in the upcoming biopic from Antoine Fuqua will definitely pull it off as his uncle Michael. Flex Anderson going from Homeboys in Outer Space to One on One (dressed up as MJ on a Halloween episode) were cool moments in his career. Playing MJ in this was all wrong. They were trying to tell the stories of his life. Somehow it didn't feel right and Flex admitting that it wasn't says a lot.
I remember watching this when it aired, around the time of the second trial. I was 14, didn't know shit about movie production and was still ASTOUNDED by how bad this was. As a fan who tried to absorb everything MJ, I blocked most of this movie out of my memory- but this brought it all back. I'm so mad Korey didn't show the cheap Neverland gate in the middle of the woods lmao... Flex tried, and I like him as an actor, but wow. The vibe of his portrayal of Michael was "big dumbass kid" and every time something bad happened, he was like "?????!!!!!". But it was 2004-5, I remember how the media portrayed Michael; even when they were positive it was still hurting his reputation. At the end of the day this was just how y'all said: poor direction, no budget, etc. but also bad timing/luck because it essentially ended on a cliffhanger during one of the worst times of Michael's life. Here's to hoping the next few productions coming out do Michael some justice. Really looking forward to the one his nephew Jaafar is starring in. Also I'm so jealous Billy got to see Michael's 30th Anniversary Special live, I have so many questions!
I remember watching this with a friend when it first aired on TV. It was...fascinating. We got a big laugh when Michael's solution after seeing the 9/11 attack was to go back to Neverland.
@lenindominguez1986 apparently he had a meeting that he missed because he was late or something. Its really strange they were going to make a movie about it but didnt. Either way thats weird as around that time mj said he thinks people are trying to kill him. So thats prob why they had it in the movie
With the way they handled season 5 of One On One, I can’t blame Flex for going to get that check 😂 funny thing is he did a better job as Michael on the show than the biopic as well
I was even more surprised to find out that Kevin Michael Richardson *(Gantu from Lilo & Stitch, the Mauler twins from Invincible, etc)* was also in that show too.
This biopic was a career killer for Flex and he never recovered from this. This is one of the worst music biopics of all time. Please react to the following horrible biopics: The Aaliyah Story The Nina Simone Story All Eyez On Me The Bobby Debarge Story
@@evitagiron I was all excited for it. I got home early from grocery shopping to watch the premiere. It was incomplete & rushed. Then TvOne had the audacity to do an encore & air it two days later. Fun Fact: Roshon Fegan the actor who played Bobby is the son of Roy Fegan (Bird from The Five Heartbeats).
Well, this was done in 2004, when he was too busy with legal shit to do music and the majority of America was okay with treating him as a joke, regardless of whether they thought he was ultimately guilty. E! News once had a daily show of recreating the MJ trial transcripts because they couldn’t film in the courtroom, that's how big he was then.
Thanks, DT, for taking on this poor excuse of a biopic regardless of whether you love or dont care about MJ. He deserves a whole lot better than this by a long shot!
I have nothing to say about this film, but, I do remember reuniting for a second or so with Big Mike and his family after they won said court trial in 2005. We all ran into each other in San Francisco in front of the community hospital. I am the one that helped Micheal out of the black van and into the hospital building. Along the way, he said something funny-odd to me. He said I looked like a Disney Princess. Anyhow, he was extremely dehydrated and that is why they went there.
Please review Lifetime’s Searching For Neverland (2017). It sort of acts as a spiritual sequel to Man in the Mirror. Jackson’s, Man In The Mirror, and Searching for Neverland sort of act as a made for TV Michael Jackson movie trilogy. With a different actor looking completely different as Michael Jackson. It weirdly kind of works. 😂
Yooo was this one that they did whole ass search scene with the FBI ? Or was it that one ? my mans was white as cocaine and forever be in mind as hilarious
The miniseries is a childhood classic. This I remember in bits and pieces because I don’t think I ever watched it all the way. A reason why is this lol 😂
Shanice (Flex Alexander's wife) recently talked about _Man in the Mirror_ on Questlove Supreme podcast. She claimed that the movie Flex agreed to star in was very different than the movie which was filmed. For example, it was supposed to be "authorized" (produced with Michael's permission/blessing), and it would've had a bigger budget. Apparently this movie was in heavy rotation on The Roots tour bus. 📼😸 I haven't seen it in years. It seemed like the first attempt to depict a less flattering side of Michael, with his flaws and missteps. Maybe that's why MJ's authorization was revoked (besides Michael having bigger concerns in 2004). 🤔

The Last Movie Roast of 2023 This shit was played frequently on VH1 before it became the Love & Hip-Hop Channel or BET2.
Easily the funniest bad movie roast ever
After all these years the best thing about this movie is that it introduced me to double toasted
Now this is one i didn't expect to get reviewed. 😂 I already know I'm about to be laughing like crazy. What's funny is when i rented this film when I was a child I thought I got an adult film by mistake. When flex was saying "Its Armageddon" during the 9/11 scene I couldn't stop laughing
And then Katherine Jackson saying afterwards: "It's the beginning of the eeeeend!"
As much as I love Michael Jackson, this movie was not it 😂 Hopefully the new & upcoming biopic does him justice ❤
frr
His name is Flex Alexander, not Flex Anderson.
His name is actually Flex Washington
@@Alburritooooo ayo 😂😂
I will never forget the first time I watched it was a year after Michael Jackson passed away. Of all the things they could have aired as tribute, moonwalker, the making of thriller, the 3 hour video retrospective that VH1 did on this man in 1999. No they chose this abomination. The one thing I will give this movie and that I agree with the boys is that they did Joe Jackson right cuz that man was the devil
They sold this movie at Walmart the week after he died, and of course I picked up that shit.
@@JeonardShadby505 why did you do that to yourself 🤣🤣🤣
Joe Jackson made sure his children made it in life.. How is that evil??
@@therealityofitall4819 All the child abuse and exploitation.
Ain’t his name Flex Alexander? 😂
Yup lol.
@@workingonmyself they wrong af 😂😂😂
Yes it is …smfh 😂
I remember channel surfing one night and landing on this movie. I thought I was watching a comedy skit from "In Living Color".
Flex “Anderson” is crazy
😂😂😂 Korey is the best!!😂😅😂😅🤣🤣
A film critic that never knows the actors he's reviewing. 😂 Korey is a G!. LoL
Michael looks like Tommy Davidson when he parodied him on, In Living Color.
I remember watching this biopic when I was around 6 or 7 on BET. Rewatching this as an adult feels more like a movie from Tubi man. Shit don't get me wrong I love my boy Flex since One on One but damn…Wish they did him more justice
I love Tubi movies.. But a Michael Jackson's biopic doesn't deserve the Tubi treatment at all..
@@kenrickkahnTrue, I would have put Straight to DVD films instead. It was either that or hear me out. a Tubi movie with a great movie budget
@@kenrickkahnexactly
First time I've ever heard of this movie. Apparently, this aired on VH1, but it might as well have the budget of a Lifetime movie.
Which is funny considering the Lifetime movie about Michael that that came out later in 2017 "Searching for Neverland" is a lot more better than this trainwreck 😂😂 That had passion and care while this "movie" was a complete joke. Practically a parody of an icon.
More like a Tubi movie budget 😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂
They did show it on vh1😂. I remember when Michael first died they were showing all the reruns, I was laughing so hard I started to cry again and got mad because when this movie was made Michael was still alive 😩
The moment I saw the thumbnail, I knew this was gonna be a must watch 😂😂😂
Thats because the Jacksons had a hands-on role in the making of the film. Michael personally picked Wylie to portray him in the movie.
@@hip-hopfan9153 that's why I made the comment.
@@k.delpino1124 I completely agree with it
Just realized the actor that played Bobby is Eugene Clark. He also played Big Daddy in Land of the Dead
Oh shit, that is him!
NOT "AND LATER WE'LL TURN INTO DONKEYS" 😭💀😭💀😭💀😭💀 that absolutely obliterated me
I remember watching this when it aired, around the time of the second trial.
I'm only 17 minutes in but I hope they realize that they've been saying Flex's last name wrong this whole time 😂
Korey has always been terrible with names for some reason, even back in the Spill days.
I'm sitting here: "Alexander... Alexander.."
@@DuncanUdaho67Right lol but no one else is correcting him
I'm at the same spot and came to the comments to see if anyone has mentioned this 😂
I think Washington was his name on One on One. For some reason they used to give characters the actors real first name.
Yeah man that Pepsi commerical basically ruined his life..the trauma and pain from that accident kickstarted his lifelong addiction to prescriptions 😢
So crazy to think
And there's actually google searches with forums that have
"What if Michael Jackson's hair didn't catch fire?"
Oh so that's what caused him to be in bed with children and hang his baby over balcony HUH
47:06 it's so funny how the baby looked at Michael
When dude said “ I ain’t sugar coatin it no more. And that’s the white dude that’s sayin that.” I was dyin 😂😂😂.
I remember watching this with a friend when it first aired on TV. It was...fascinating. We got a big laugh when Michael's solution after seeing the 9/11 attack was to go back to Neverland.
Fun fact mj was supposed to be in the towers that day
@lenindominguez1986 apparently he had a meeting that he missed because he was late or something. Its really strange they were going to make a movie about it but didnt. Either way thats weird as around that time mj said he thinks people are trying to kill him. So thats prob why they had it in the movie
LMAO !!!!! This roast had me in tears, one of your best roast
Jacksons: An American Dream this aint
I was waiting for y’all to do this, this movie had it coming 😂
I had to stop like five times I was laughing so hard

😊
Mannnn me too 💯😂
With the way they handled season 5 of One On One, I can’t blame Flex for going to get that check 😂 funny thing is he did a better job as Michael on the show than the biopic as well
Yea in that Halloween party battle he did w/ Duane Martin in sesaon 1 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

This roast right here is pure gold. Love the Double Toasted crew.
Korey never knows the names of the actors.
Wait?… Home Boys in Outer Space was a REAL show? I thought it was a joke from In Living Color, that’s the most shocking think in this review lol
I was even more surprised to find out that Kevin Michael Richardson *(Gantu from Lilo & Stitch, the Mauler twins from Invincible, etc)* was also in that show too.
Unfortunately, it _was_ real. Two flight school dropouts become bounty hunters in space and fly around in a Hoopty.
This biopic was a career killer for Flex and he never recovered from this. This is one of the worst music biopics of all time. Please react to the following horrible biopics:
The Aaliyah Story
The Nina Simone Story
All Eyez On Me
The Bobby Debarge Story
The Bobby DeBarge story was TERRIBLE!!!!
@@evitagiron I was all excited for it. I got home early from grocery shopping to watch the premiere. It was incomplete & rushed. Then TvOne had the audacity to do an encore & air it two days later. Flex Alexander was also on one on one with Kyla Pratt

Man, the idea of doing a Micheal Jackson biopic in the 90’s when he was still in his prime feels weird.
Edit: ah, so this was from 2004. My mistake
Younger generations can know
I barely remember a 90s TV mini series, but it was about the Jackson's rise to fame. I remember it still focused a lot on Michael.
@@TheJesselopez1981that’s because nobody is sitting around wanting to watch a Jackson 5 movie about Jermaine Jackson.
@@TheJesselopez1981 Maybe that’s what I thinking of
50:08 This looks like something from keel and peel! They wished they wrote something this fucking hilariously dark!
This is Flex Alexander as Teezo Touchdown 😂😭
Alexander....... Flex Alexander......
That is not Michael Jackson, that's Micah Justin😂😂😂
This is the movie review I didn’t know I needed this weekend
I wish they talked about the part where Michael is naked and the cops are taking pictures of him lol 😂

"Use the Moonwalk MJ".
I haven't seen it in years. It seemed like the first attempt to depict a less flattering side of Michael, with his flaws and missteps. Maybe that's why MJ's authorization was revoked (besides Michael having bigger concerns in 2004). 🤔
Not Flex Armstrong lol 😂😂😂
