- Street Photography in Tokyo. Exploring Ginza with the Fuji X-Pro 3 and Minolta 40mm F2
Once again I explore a district of Tokyo to do some street photography and take some candid snaps. This week I am venturing into the upscale district of Ginza and its streets lined with luxury shops and boutiques. I take us off the beaten track to explore some of the side streets and alleys that are filled with old Tokyo charm, Izakayas and bars that sometimes feels a million miles away from the glitz and glam of this shoppers paradise/
Armed with the FUJI X-PRO 3 and the Minolta M-Rokkor 40mm F2 AKA the budget leica summicron to put this little lens through its paces and see what kinds of results I can get from its manual focusing magic.
Join me on my photo journey as I give you my unique tour of the area coupled with plenty of POV street photos.
All images were shot RAW then edited in capture one Pro. I used Fuji's Classic Chrome profile as a starting point, then adjusted levels, and added a vignette until I was happy with the look.

Yes! I’m always down haha
Top notch dude!
Thanks mate
Cool vid;) i never had a fuji before..can I ask..is it pre focus still working on digital camera? Like we set at f11 and just shoot without focusing?
Watching all of your videos! Great walk and photography!
Would love to hear a bit more about technical stuff, like at what aperture, ISO, shutter speed you shoot.
How did you manually focus mostly, did you prefocus and then move to the position, or you bring your camera to the eye and then focus without moving... Etc. :)
Keep up these! Also, you can happily do longer videos, as I enjoy seeing places like these and the culture :)
Thanks for the great feedback. It’s certainly something I will take on board and try to incorporate in some shape for future videos. I actually have some ideas for a separate series that focuses more on techniques and trying out different ways of shooting so maybe I will make those videos a little more technical. Really appreciate the comment
nice man
Thanks mate
Are you using focus peaking? Are you prefocusing and letting subjects walk into the shot or do you focus to follow their movements? To my eye, that’s a terrific focal length for street photography in that sort of setting. Well done again.
Yes I’m using focus peaking, I usually zone focus when I’m walking around, set a shutter speed of 1/500 or faster so I can quickly shoot something if I see it, but if I spot a nice location I will reset my focus to where I want some one to walk through and wait for a subject to come into frame. Thanks for the comment
Visions in Tokyo Thanks!
Heard Leica Hates the 40mm summicron. But I always liked those weird focal lengths.
i'm sure they do haha, tell you what I hate Leica's prices so the Minolta 40mm is probably the closest I will get to owning one. I need an m mount film camera body now so I can try it out in its actual 40mm field of view.
Get down to Tokyo's Bury new road mate 🤣
haha when i find it I will
Dead expensive crayons and that 😂😂
