  • I led Thai Truong (new Police Chief) and Peter Cuddy (Ward 3 councillor) through Ward 3 in London, Ontario, where we had the unique opportunity to explore the community while the two "VIPs" had their initial meeting together.
    Chatting and having their meeting during this ride instead of sitting in an office allowed them to see and talk about things FIRST HAND which is key to governing and policing in my opinion (and apparently theirs, so yay for that).
    Despite the heaviest rain London's had in a while being dumped on us at the beginning of our trek, our journey was filled with hopefully eye-opening experiences and unexpected encounters that showcased the heart and soul of this legitimately vibrant ward (even if people don't see it that way).
    The rest of the ride went pretty well, too, aside from realizing my $3000 camera died because of the rain. A month later and it had aired out enough that it's functional again so yay!

    Paul Cuddy is one example of a councillor that needs to go away. Voting against closing Blackfriar's bridge, but still being two-faced enough to go on bike rides like this just illuminates how unecessary this empty vessel of car-centric thinking is for London's future. Many of these routes taken are unsafe for children, and to even stop and entertain an elder home-owning citizen and their frankly illegitimate concerns about bike lanes is insufferable. Thank you Ben to all these efforts, and to Paul Cuddy - resign.

      Agreed this is basically what I said as well, I've got nothing wrong with what Ben did it great to see but what is it going to change when your dealing with this guy as a representative? IDK anymore people don't see the bigger picture I guess...

    Did cuddy talk about his multiple boats?? How about the fact he doesn't live in the ward

    I was back in town last year and was really impressed with the bike improvements in London. After living in the US for a while, it felt much more bike able than most places I’ve stayed in North America.

    Question when you’re biking on winter is your tires also for winter ?

      Yep! Studded tires are amazing!

    Did you and/or the police chief roll any stop signs? Also how did you convince the police chief to do that!

    • @cumpootuhruser9355
      @cumpootuhruser9355 Год назад

      I can't imagine it was hard. Police aren't generally known for following the laws they're sworn to enforce, and traffic violations are no exception.
      Even with the RUclips algorithm's clear bias toward showing police in a positive light (hmm, I wonder why?) you don't have to look hard to find videos of police blatantly violating their own laws.

    • @BenDurham

      We 100% rolled petty much every stop sign. Because stop signs are only needed because of automobiles. Stupid laws that bicycles can't just proceed with caution.

      @@BenDurham hopefully that means they won't be ticketing any people on bikes for yielding at stop signs

      @@BenDurhamGreat look for the local government.
      Will be sure to include this comment in my official complaint against you.
      Advocating and suggesting breaking the law, while admitting you and the public officials were breaking the law the entire trip.
      Great way to show the city and it’s stakeholders are committed to making the roads safer😂😂😂

    Really don't understand why you did this? This ain't gonna change anything about the poor state of this city, I hope you dropped some truth on these muppets while you were riding?....we need help here badly and not just with bike lanes that they themselves will never ever use...fan of your channel but this was weird.

    • @BenDurham
      @BenDurham  Год назад +6

      Weird is good, though. The idea was just getting them to experience the infrastructure and the neighborhood on the ground level. Can't be a bad thing, can it? Like, what's bad about this?

      @@BenDurham I never said bad, not once, what I said was self-explanatory what is this going to change? The two muppets your riding with don't give a rats ass about this city let alone the bike infrastructure so yea weird choice of people. Secondly I live here have since I was born here 36 years ago, I know first hand this city caters to the rich and the driving class 100%, further more that councilor is not a great person or politician nor is he a reflection of the average Londoner on a bike and our "new" chief of police was not even born here so doubt he's gonna put work in London either, so again what is this going to change was my statement?
      In closing...This was "weird" for your channel because it straight up looks like they used you to say: "Hey look we care about London, we went out with local biker RUclipsr Ben Durham to view the streets of London" where is the feed back to us the people, most Londoners would agree don't you?
      All I saw in this was pure clout points for them and your channel...these people your riding with have never done anything for this city, nothing, except cater to the rich investors such as Farhi and continue what Dico and Fontana did!
      So yea "weird" for your channel Ben....

      @@transportationland6395 DO you live here in any place except west London? Do you ride the streets here everyday? If no to either than no your not going to understand what I'm saying, Ben does.... That why he gave no response back he just made a statement with no backing, He knows I can back up what I'm saying, I live here too...
