In the 1990 I would walk into a record and leave empty handed because I could not decide what to buy- everything artist and group on the shelves were so dope!! Had to think it over in the mall food court! Hip Hop in the 90s!

So many great albums in 90-i was 12. I had most of them. Classic Debuts by Cube, KSolo, King Tee, PRT, CMW, Paris, Father Mc, Monie Love, Above the Law, Brand Nubian, Frost, Tragedy, Xclan, DU, Tribe, Master Ace, Lord Finesse, 2nd Albums from Grap, Audio 2, Kwame, 3XD,. Heavyweight 3rd albums from PE, LL, Eric B and Rakim, BDP, Kane, EPMD Just a note-Ill street Blues & On the Run are from G Raps 3rd album-Live and Let Die
The year I graduated from High School. A lot of great albums dropped. Amerikkka’s Most Wanted being the best. Props for mentioning Low Progile, one of the most underrated albums of all time!
Definitely a landmark year. The battle lines were drawn. Mainstream rap vs Underground rap. Gangster rap vs Knowledge rap. The beginning of hip hop’s segregation whereas before, everybody co-existed. Still a far cry from 1988 or even 1989 creatively. It was definitely Cube and LL’s year.

Still is and it’s one of ice cubes best lyrical displays. Ice cube is top 5 when it comes to storytelling. It’s probably his best attribute as an emcee.
