After watching many of your videos, I finally tired my hand at DE shaving. Haven't cleaned shaved in 10 years, but your videos got me excited about wet shaving. Thank you for all your information. Went all in, got a scuttle, brush and vintage gillette razor. It's been a ton of fun.

Just watched your video again with my girl. She says she's never seen you shave so slowly. I don't know if you listen to Howard Stern, but he used to have a side kick Artie Lang. One day Artie showed up for work with tissue paper all over his face. Howard gave him advice that I hear in my head everyday that I shave. Howard told him that you've only got one face, and you have to walk around with that face all day. Slow down and give your face a break, it's not worth tearing up your face to shave fast. Best advice I ever heard.

Hey Ken, I'm only 19, so probably a little under your target age group, but get this, I've never used a cartridge razor, my first razor was actually the vanderhagen set, but now that I actually have some hair to shave I decided to order myself some new soaps, a Parker Variant and a yaqi SURF brush. Got the Parker after watching your review and the yaqi surf looked amazing, not disappointed at all, the Parker is just what I wanted, when I got it I left it on 1 and it was similar to the Vanderhagen aggressiveness, but at a 3-4, oh man, what a perfect shave for me, I've only tried lord shark blades in it so far, next I'll try the nacet I think, I'm still shying away from the feathers while I'm getting used to the feel. Thank you Ken for being a super real down to earth guy that people of all ages can get down with and relax!
Before tonight I had never heard of a double open comb. It looked scary, but it also looked like it gave a great shave. Very generous sending Jill that razor BTW. I'm sure she appreciated it. Great video Ken, enjoyed as always.

Yaqi brushes are just so good. Amazingly priced but also really good construction and quality. I bought an Omega Syntheric, an Olivina boar brush, and a badger brush came with my razor and brush stand but I love my Segrada Familia Yaqi brush so much I haven't used the others in nearly a month.
Great shave Ken! Kind of scary razor- I guess the open comb varieties make me nervous. I do plan on trying it though. Always love the Stirling soaps! Have a great week!

I’m almost positive that head and my RazoRock SLOC head are identical. Other than the YAQI logo that is! 💈😁🤙💈 I just had my 2nd shave with my SLOC and noticed it’s more agressive than I gave it credit for. It’s very efficient. A good pre-shave, and a good ol’ Artisan Soap and your in there like swimwear
Old Seal Beach! Brings back memories from my time in the Navy. I was stationed on the now decommisioned and sunken USS Ogden LPD-5 out of San Diego. Every time we headed out or came back from WestPac (Navy Deployment), we would hit up Seal Beach to either load or unload weapons. From what I learned from the locals there, Seal Beach's heyday was back in the 1970's when it was a popular surf spot.

Great shave. I'm going for France in the World Cup Final as they're the only team left to root for with both Mexico and England having been defeated. France is one of the teams I've been rooting for during the World Cup. England should win the third-place match on Saturday. I did a shave a few days ago with Aqua Velva Ice Blue and it felt amazing for me. Luckily I didn't get a burn, but the upper lip felt a bit tingly. It was 90°F on that day and the Ice Blue was perfect for the summer heat during that day. I'm gonna start using splashes during the summer as my skin does fine without a balm during the summer
Their badger knots are surprisingly good. I have that razor head which is a copy of PAA'S DOC. They do look scary but are quite mild. It's nice for a daily shaver.
Ken, I just picked up the same brush after watching this vid. Just arrived today. Mine "did" smell like a typical badger bush, especially after soaking it. Doesn't bother me in the least because I know it's temporary. But what an awesome brush! Densely packed (more than some of my higher priced Silvertips.) I like the look and feel of it. Thanks for the vid. Otherwise might not have found it. Very nice brush for the $$.
Just bought a razor and brush. The razor is slightly too aggressive unless I have about a week’s growth. My Edwin Jagger is better for my normal routine. The brush is really soft and works very well. I have just ordered 4711 after shave and cologne.
A little trick I do when I put my brush in my glass brush soaker is that I gently squeeze the bristles together and let them go when the brush is in the soaker. You’ll never bend a bristle again
Great shave Ken. I knew it wouldn't be long before someone would copy PAA's original doc razor and put their own personal spin on it. I have the original doc razor and the word "sleeper" comes to mind. It looks aggressive but it's an extremely mild shave and is one of the few razors that guarantees a BBS shave with almost no irritation. It's also blade eater which means switching them out more frequently. That was pretty funny that dude yelling out "Come on England, I have to get back to work".

The scalloped bar is classified as medium aggressiv and the hybrid beast (scalloped bar base plate + DOC cap) is classified as aggressiv. I'm looking forward to your opinion on those razors. The Stirling Lemon Chill is a great soap! One of my favourite soaps.
I use a Yaqi double open comb as my daily shaver. I love the audible feedback I get when I am shaving and it is very aggressive. Their most popular open comb heads are the Mellon, Knight's Head and the Beast. The Beast is more aggressive than the Muhle R41. In fact, it is so aggressive I cannot use it with Astra Blades. I don't know what would happen if you tried using the Beast with Feather blades, probably buckets of blood.
Ken, how did u like the lemon chill? Is it very strong? I want a mild scent because of sensitive skin. Also, where did u get that crystal skull? Its bad ass!!! I gotta get one.

Great video Pal ... Are ever concerned about the fact that some of your razors are ZAMAK material ... My vintage Gillette are brass but my Edwin Jagger is ZAMAK ... So is Merkur and most others that aren't Stainless steel ... Just curious ...
I just got it myself and I have to say, combining it with a horsehair brush, a Gillette 1952 black, a persona red, ending with witch hazel by Humphreys and finishing with some good ole skin bracer turned into an incredible shave.
In my opinion Yaqi brushes are the best brushes on a budget (they have a good amazon page and website too) and really anything by WSP(Wet Shaving Company), they're relatively inexpensive and they even have sample sizes of their products. I've been using the sample size of the Citrus Blast by WSP for a few weeks and I won't need more for a maybe another month or so. Things to think about.
Kensurfs I agree, big honestly it is probably the easiest for a beginner to just get a beginner shave set from Maggard. You get different blades, a nice razor, a good brush, and your choice of soaps.

I have the same issue with my Moka Yaqi badger,will not fit on any of my stands because the knot is so dense.I have to tie it upside down to a rack in my den.lol It's a very good brush though.
Hooter with scottish theme - sounds very intriguing. when the england was in finals croatia not even existed =) Croatia plays HARD like Vinnie Jones.. you'll get bruises after match (there're pics shown after Russia-Croatia match on both sides), while western europe football is too Neymaring (rolling and falling), stop falling already and just play THUMBS UP for women's american soccer league they are tougher and more dedicated =)
many reviewers dont like yaqi because they think they are stealing handle designs from small handcrafted artizans and make mass product for lower price. and this razor is too mild for its looks=)
Yaqi is a great company atm and their razors are great and come at fantastic prices (no reason to get an DE89 or a R89/R41 really). That razor head looks a lot like the PAA DOC. Is it as scatchy on the face, as the DOC? The DOC always suffered for the bad finish on the combs.

Yaqi is a great company atm and their razors are great and come at fantastic prices (no reason to get an DE89 or a R89/R41 really). Level aggression one is the Mellon head (yours), level 2 Medium aggression is the Scalloped closed comb, and level 3 or higher aggesive shave head is the beast Hybrid Easy Flow Razor Head" You can buy the other head (it's the Yaqi Charcol Color Cobbled Safety Razor Head) to try it out and to combine it with yours. The Bevel razor looks suspiciously China-made-slap-a-name-on-it like. I maybe mistaking, but it looks like that to me.
