Well you did it again Kevy boy.I got the high mountain brush. It's just perfection. That's it i'm done with brushes haha.Another great bit of advice.Cheers Kevy.I don't think i could get a better brush if i spent a fortune and bought another 10 so thank you.
I've ordered that Yaqi brush last night (couldn't resist the handle). Yaqi makes brushes with some stunning handles for very reasonable prices. I also own their "Mysterious Space Color" handle (with Tuxedo and Silvertip Badger knots) and their Purple Haze Mew Brown brush. Two other great looking handles.
Although I have never been a proponent of menthol in soaps/creams, something should be said about this product. The lather is fully opaque. The sheen is such that a mirror reflection of your hand, and brush can be seen while lathering your neck! Simply incredible! The menthol creeping up as characterized by you, reminds me of Ingram, I don't feel any menthol till after the second pass. I don't mind that at all. I'm very pleased your birthday was observed by the Parr clan. Another year passes into history. The year approaching will be the half century mark. It will nevertheless be an event we all look forward to share with you, This cream is a winner; of this I am certain. Executive Shaving isn't known for their spectacular deals. I'm hoping a stockist can be franchised here, stateside. I'm immediately going to the Fitjar site after this. Rose is indeed a year-round scent. I'm not opposed to wearing it at all The 24C was cutting surgically. Is the handle longer than the Black Beauty? A great post shave to a premier of Norway's contribution to the wet shaving community. Well done as usual sir. Enjoy the weekend...hopefully over to the Groom Room to trade those vouchers! Please give my regards to Mrs Kevy, and Riley. Waffle on! By the way, did you get a chance to watch The Argument Clinic?.
Hi Kevy- Very nice shave and soap review; thank you! Great lather from the shaving cream; nice-looking brush, as well. I hope you have a great weekend ahead and all the best!
Amazing shave Kevy!! Never really looked into Parker Razors. Maybe I should! The Variant seems to be a great razor and 24C feels surely bi different. Thanks for the video! Looking forward to the next one! Have a nice day!
Shaves have been excellent recently. I've received a few new soaps so I'm exploring those at the moment. Also putting in some time with the OneBlade Genesis before my review.
Thank youKevy. Weekend was great. Lots of sun here! Autumn is great so far. Best week day was yesterday. Had a chat with a nice scottish guy... ;-) Cheers, Jens
Great shave Kevy! I totally agree with you about Parker razors being underrated, they are great razors for a very reasonable price. That cream looks great. Have a great weekend mate. Cheers!
Great shave Kev. Yeah, I've tried the hand strop and the jean strop methods to 'deburr' Feather blades and it works a treat. Perhaps Feather should have a process at the end of manufacture that can do that before they get wrapped. Perhaps run them over a length of cheap denim LOL Being half Norse and half Celt I may need to buy some of this cream or maybe the soaps. Oh..and if I'm right, you'll pronounce Fitjar as 'Fityar'
Thanks Mark. I like Feather blades. This wee technique seemed to work well although I enjoy them without doing the palm strop. Thanks for,the pronunciation tip. Kevy 😀
My sampler arrived today...bloody hell they were quick!! They smell sensational. "Slatteroy", "Folgefonn" , "Fjellheim" and "Havn" are the varieties that came in the box. I'm excited !!
I too really love that Yaqi brush Kevy! I’ve heard a many people say the same thing about those Simpson brushes, that they are not the easiest to work with! 😕 🤷🏻♂️
Had a few shaves now with the Fityar cream. I chose to face lather. it's a little more like a mousse (or is it an elk being Scandinavian ?) than a straight-up cream and I think that kind of density makes it a little more finicky than most creams BUT that said, properly dialed in, it's a lovely soap to use. It isn't a particularly voluminous lather but it is surprisingly very protective. The scent is mild but pleasing (I'm using "Fjellheim" at the mo') and it's very easy to wash off. Post shave was nice for me but some may find they still want a moisturiser or balm to finish. All-up...a very nice cream to use. I'd probably just like to see a little more density to it - I think that may help with getting the hydration dialed in more easily and quickly. I really would like to see what the soap is like. I may order a couple to try (lol...like I don't have enough soaps already LOL) Cheers mate!
I agree with your description Mark. It does take a little practice to get the correct amount of water ratio to nail it but once it's there, it's a great cream. I'm going to try out the other samples they sent me. Quite a unique texture to it. I like that it's different that way. Cheers. Kevy 😀👍
Nicely done Kevy, very good shave. The Parker is a nice looking razor, worked great it seems. First I've seen of this cream, looked really good, glad it worked for you and no issues using the Feather blade. Not sure if stropping the blade on the palm is a good idea but if it helps take the roughness off, go for it.. Nice finish to the shave, you're all set. Great video and review. Enjoy!
Thanks Terry. I'm not sure if it worked either stropping the blade! I've never done it before but it seemed to work ok. This is a nice, luxurious feeling cream, really nice. Have a great weekend. Kevy 👍
Wow buetyful brush and razor Yeah I heard about that too my Friend or your jesns or belt as Well my friend I really enjoy your video each time my friend Have a great weekend
Hi Kevy, almost an other beautiful video. The soap didn't find my enthusiasm, but what do you think merkur 15c or the Parker or the Homelikeshaving Start with Open Comb 0.9? About the Shaving and smoothness because from material would be Start in Stainless
I know you mentioned in the video how much you like that Yaqi brush (we've also talked about it before as well). I want to order it but saw a couple people comment on a post (FB, I believe) that it's too big. I like big knots (and I cannot lie, lol) but was just wondering your opinion on it? Thanks, as always. Cheers!
This does feel like a big knot. Although it says it's only 24mm, it feels bigger when it's bloomed. Great brush all the same. If you enjoy big knots, you'll enjoy this brush. Kevy 😀
Pretty new to wet shaving and so far I’m finding creams seem to give me better razor protection less irritation than soaps, I create a thick creamy lather with soaps and creams just find the creams a little bit thicker and have a little more protection what’s your thoughts on this kevy?
Hi Tommy. It's all down to personal tatste as to what you prefer - soaps or creams? Creams are easier to whip up a rich creamy lather. As you use more different soaps and creams, you'll get to know which works best for you. I don't have a preference really, I like all my soaps and creams in different ways. Cheers. Kevy 👍
Oh my, it's the first time I'm seeing someone stropping a safety razor blade on a palm... accept for myself! The point is, some time ago I started doing same thing just intuitively, or rather experimentally, and I still can not decide if it really does the job or I experience the placebo effect? I do it on a different part of a palm than you, and I only strop a blade when it's gonna be used for the second, third - and so on - time. And I can tell so far, the every first use of a blade is quite traumatic for me, but then it becomes just mild and nice. But probably it's just because it has been used already, and the stropping has nothing to do with it? I can't tell. Sometimes I strop, sometimes I don't - to catch the difference. But I started to suspect I was doing something idiotic, and the effect was nothing more than placebo... Untill I saw your video! So now I wonder - what are your thoughts on the subject? What was your further experience? Thanks and cheers!
Hey Mike. I don't palm strop all the time. Sometimes I'll do it before using a Feather blade or something really sharp. I'm like you in that I dont know if it works or if it's just my brain convincing me that by doing it, there's some magical smoothness to the blade. I guess if it works for you and you're getting smooth shaves, I say continue doing it. Cheers. Kevy 🙂
Was talking about Fitjar creams with a friend just yesterday. Then I see this video. Are you a spy!? Really interested in these so I'm glad it worked out for you!
Oh man this brush didn't feel soft at all when face lathering. Scritchy and scratchy to the point it hurts my face. In contrast, I found my Yaqi Moka 26mm Two Band Badger to be extremely soft on my face. I wonder now if I received a defect product. I thought Silvertip was supposed to be even softer which was not the case at all. I contacted Yaqi, let's see what happens.
