I've been using the X-Touch One with logic for about a year now, it works perfectly, you just needed to do a firmware update, and then it's all in sync when you switch tracks.
There's a firmware update that solves the issue of selecting channels with the mouse. I updated mine and it works flawlessly. But the update might need to be done by somebody who doesn't have fat fingers.
For the control surface not following track selection in Logic (with a mouse) . . . switch on "Control Surface Follows Track Selection" in control surfaces preferences.
I had to lough out loud! Humor is what's missing in the so serious world of audio technology. Btw. the topics are well selected. Thank's for your work and your enternaining and competent videos.
More faders! get the bigger one!... it will also remote control the X-Air 18 and swap between this and DAW control with one button.... not that fancy proff studio types like you would need that ;-)
I use both the X-touch One and the larger 8-fader X-touch at work. I enjoy both, but tbh, for me, the One is a gateway drug into the larger unit, which is just so much more satisfying to use! If you also run live sound, the larger X-touch integrates nicely with the X Air series of mixers, as well. Now I just need a couple of the extender units...
I have the full size X-Touch and 2 extenders and I really like them. I get an occasional issue where Logic tries to assign an extra unit for some reason but it works really well if you switch them on in the correct order. What I really like is plugin mode, where the rotary controls are automatically mapped to control parameters. It's let me move away from using a mouse a lot more. I think your issue with track selection can be fixed with a firmware update as it always works on mine on the latest version.
I really think getting a controller depends on how you work. I ended up getting a Faderport 8 for Logic, and while I LOVE the actual faders and the basic recording function controls, I STILL use my mouse a lot, because I'm so used to it. I don't know if I'll ever get used to using the Faderport instead of my mouse for a lot of functions.
I use one. Definitely an improvement over the mouse once you're used to it. I'm using it in Reaper. The one thing I wish is that I could just arbitrarily assign a parameter/automation lane rather than being stuck with just volume & panning automation.
i use it with pro tools 2021.6 in HUI mode. It works great, not as good as in mackie in logic (i use PR n Logic as well) jog wheel only works for scrubing not navigating timeline as logic did, pan knob in stereo mode only detecting left track can't figute it out to switch to Right track meanwhile in logic either mono or stereo track only have i pan knob. The rest is working great
The only one thing that I need it's a transport wheel and play stop buttons!!! And small!!! I don't have more space in my desk for another controller (console 1, fader 1, RME remote control, 4 TC DT's and a Midi twister for custom hotkeys!!!)
I had a Faderport that worked magic with logic and studio one. ”Upgraded” to a Faderport 8 and still only ever use one fader at a time. Haha. Total waste of money. If i want to balance the kick and bass i need to bank between them anyway. Totally worthless unless you have a much larger version with at least 32 channels. Then the one fader is much faster and smoother to use.
I bought one 2 weeks ago in Thomann, after i send back the "icon mini something" and i have to say that Im super happy with it. I will need to dive a bit into the CC commands to customize it to my Reaper worflow. It worth the Pennies!! Ps: I love the Add Violence in the videos!!!
@@PresentDayProduction Maybe was just bad luck, but the configuration was a real pain in the A... I don´t blame Icon at all, I´m quite sure that 87,6% was my fault and realize that I needed a Fool Proof DAW controller :) :)
Unfortunately, it does not work with Logic on the latest iOS M1. It works a little- stop start and some other buttons. The LEDs and indicators do not light up. The company pounced on the problem. I reported it to the service and have not received a response for a month now. Same problem X touch extended. In general it is some crap, I advise everyone against the purchase. I bought Prosonus and it works. I have two bricks- XTouch extended and One. I throw this shit in the trash.
Lovely video. I have the X-touch One and it's great! P.S. I just realized that I have NO IDEA how I managed to connect it (along with my audio interface, mouse, midi keyboard, capture card, etc.) to my port-limited M1 Mac mini. I guess it'll remain a mystery 👀 (no way I am going to check "cable hell" behind the desk).
Full X-Touch unit here with Nuendo - works perfectly. Only negative point is the missing manual, the important stuff is only explained in some youtube videos by behringer.
I'm still using a frickin old Behringer BCF2000 controller. The only annoyin detail, it's a little noisy, but to write fader rides it's fine. Thanks for showing this one.
I have one - it does the job. I did a bit of customisation within Logic to allow me to Drop Markers by pushing the Rotary Encoder (pan knob) and to get Zoom working how I wanted. Of course, more faders would be better but for the price you can’t complain. I’m not usually a fan of Behringer but this seems pretty solid.
I’ve had the full XTouch for a year and a half, and it works great with Mixbus 32C and Reaper. Writing automation, for say, all the vocal FX in one pass, is creative, efficient, and fun for us analog folks.
Very informative and by far the funniest! Thanks for the laughs! bought the X-Touch its the right down the middle and ready for business control surface without the 2024 high end but not 100% ready for all business (that you would expect for the $) expense that the other much more capable control surfaces offer.
After some feedback from Mark in a FB-group about DAW-controllers he used , I bought the Icon Platform-M+ DAW controller. It has 8 channels with only basic functions and a transport section. But it is strong and heavy build and I'm perfectly happy with it. I didn't try out the Behringer though but I can't think about a need for more features on my Icon device. I'm using it for stem mixing and automation writing and in my particular case less is more for me. Kind regards, Patrick Peeters
I bought a magnetic overlay for my Xtouch (8 fader version) for Cubase and works a treat, you can get the equivalents for Xtouch One / Logic. Have seen your reviews re the SSL UF8, UC1 which does look a great combo, but as you suggested the missing link is the one button/one function transport controls etc. The Xtouch One form factor would fill the gap until, as you also suggest SSL develop their equivalent.
