Mine came in on Friday (June 5th) and I was quite pleased. The quality is very good. Works really well with both Cubase and Logic. The overlays aren’t near as bad as people complain about. For a single fader device, this is definitely top notch. The only issue I had out of the box turned out to be a non issue. The screen looks a bit scratched. But there is in fact a protector on it. I just removed it
I was half expecting it to cost way more than the price it is to be honest. It's actually affordable. Looks worth it. The way I have to do automation with just my laptop is a real pain and im truly jealous of you right now lol
By the way, I recently bought your hip hop course. I love it so far. Very straight forward and to the point. Good balance between technical and fun. 👍 Cant wait to get the metal one 😊

I have ordered mine a while ago but they have delivery issues due the Corona... I am really looking forward to it! I agree that it is a bit annoying that you need the power supply. I have a mobile setup and a home studio. This means I need to carry the power every time... For me that's the only downside. The things you put on top of the mixer for the templates is called: overlay :)

Okay, now I know what controller you have!!! :) This was 3 years ago, and you´ve still got it, so it must be pretty good.
I've got an X-Touch and X-Touch Extender and an X-Touch Mini that I use with Logic using MCU protocol. Very comprehensive, works great. Nice to be able to close eyes and toggle between plugin bypass on/off to ensure I like what I'm doing in the mix. Transport control is awesome and it's nice to use buttons and knobs to control plugins. Once you learn the MCU (see Logic Manual) it is really powerful and nice to be free from the mouse. Only bummer is that UA's LUNA doesn't support control surfaces yet :(
I keep seeing an issue with the full sized touch where when you play back the fader automation, the faders rattle and are noisy in their sliding movements. Are you noticing this? Pretty noisy? Or are they quiet like in this video of the X-Touch One?
Just put in my order for one. I've been "window shopping" for a while, checking out different reviews. I've always enjoyed your insight. Now I just have to be patient for a whole month or so... 😁
I used a Sharpie on my soft buttons! When it Rubs off i just do it again... But let it sit a few and dry. I like it as it shows up nice when the are lit up..... I have the 8 fader and i have had not trouble other then sometimes i have to turn it on and off a few times before it finds it...
How many GB is your sharpie ?
For those complaining about needing a power supply: pretty sire that the motorized fader and LEDs draw more power than USB would provide.
Pull up, slightly, on the jog wheel and it will spin much easier.

I've been on the market for something like this for quite a while but I haven't made a move yet for a couple of reasons. I don't trust Behringer's reliability on the long run, also their drivers are known to crap on you at any given time. I'd be curious to know what you think over a longer period of time. I've been looking at the Faderport 2 as well. Avid's solution are way too expensive, at that price, rather use my mouse like I've been doing for a decade.
Looks very interesting, but the video interrupts at 12:19. There was an advertisement there and then there is the "Don't forget to subscribe" static screen and from 12:39 it's a black screen with no sound until the end. From 27:23 I see the 4 squares linking to 4 other videos and that's it.

keeping in mind that the fader is the same as the ones on the x32 wich is a mostly "live desk" quiet faders proboably werent the first thing they had in mind when making it. surely a good piece of gear though but be prepared to swap the fader out after a couple of years (quite normal with the x32 series that they go bad after a while)
Tommy Nikiforov I did notice you can buy replacement faders for the x32 systems. I wonder whether they’ll fit on this unit. I have yet to find my perfect faders that do not cost several thousand. I miss the Procontrol faders. S1 perhaps, but I’m fairly happy with my Faderport 16 except for a fader issue. Firmware fix incoming, hopefully.
@@AironExTv im quite convinced the xtouch faders are identical to the x32 ones, just a fuckton less work to swap them out as you dont have to tear the whole desk apart, replacements are like 120 euros for 5 faders
Tommy Nikiforov This availability is the reason I’m considering the X-Touch range. I’ve used the X32 for live stuff a couple of times and use some X-Touch Minis in my own miximg setup. The knobs and buttons have not failed me yet. I’ve got some space
left for an X-Touch extender for send and fx parameter control, but for me it would be for use with Reaper.
Most of the times when those X32 faders fail it's just a case of opening it up and re-aligning the drive belt. It's at least a lot better than having to replace the whole part.

David, if your DAW of choice is Pro Tools, I'd urge you to look at the AVID Dock. I'll probably get some hate for it but it's a good unit. Combine it with AVID Control, the iPad app, and it's very powerful.
I know the unit, it's great, I personally find it a bit overpriced tho
@@mixbustv agreed. It's on the pricey side. You can always use AVID Control on its own without any hardware and it's free. It really is a powerful app.

I have the full X-Touch and I mostly use the transport section and jog wheel. Its useful for automation if you like riding the faders. Its good for tweaking plug in settings (I still use the mouse to load plugins because I like seeing the entire plugin list before me.). It is far superior to see all your tracks on the X-Touch as just one single track. I wouldnt recommend X-Touch One. I suppose you have to own one to appreciate my comments. One quirk: in Logic, every time a project is loaded, I have to turn it off and on as to reset it.
Thanks for this. I had the frontier design Alpha Track and it is still the best, because it is buspowerd and it has 3 encoders. But it is not supported anymore for catalina... :-( Since than I looked for something similar. But I'm not convinced by everything I saw. I looked at the Avid S1, but ... pffff to expensive and too many bugs... returned ! Now I have configured my NI Maschine mk3 controller - and I have to say, perfect. I have 8 encoders for Vol and a bunch of pads converted by controller mate for shortcuts. And, no extra costs.. ;-) But keep us up to date, how you like it after a while in use. Thanks and atb

Oh that's sucks yeah a less buttons then the full fledged but figured the x one was the same as the transport part on full fledge. The scrub is bad on the full xtouch as well lol
I got the full fledged heard wasnt good for protools but it does work cuz I've tried it but I'm a cubase user and works great with cubase. But I couldn't buy just the 1 fader needed more lol. I'm commenting before finishing watching. Lol gonna watch now. Haha
X-touch one is great but i use Cakewalk Sonar VS and Cakewalk Sonar LE,,,i don't know if it's work need an idea about this X-touch tnx

Yo @mixbustv - I know its been a long time since you made this video. I ended up purchasing one after I saw that it was still sitting on your desk. I love the thing after months of using it in Pro Tools. However, there is one thing I just cannot figure out. How the hell, do we write send fader automation with this thing? Theres no flip to fader button that I can find. Is there a way to map this function? Ideally I'd love to be able to go between all sends but honestly I'd settle for even just the top 2 sends. Wondering if I need to upgrade to the larger model for the flip button because I am constantly writing send automation ( I do post-production for films as well as music)
Ya can't. Unfortunately that's the only thing I hate about it.
@@mixbustv bummmmmer. I'm half tempted to buy an old d-command and run V-Control lol! Would be cheaper than buying the full SSL getup. I've heard bad things about the 8-fader x touch so I feel like I need to make a larger jump shrug.

Check out the Icon Platform Nano with D3 screen Even Better then the XTouch but overall the X Touch one is Great.

Would be cool if you could get a usb to the power supply plug and just use usb3.0 to power through hub. Battery operation would have been welcomed too.
Hi David, I would have a question for the Rapidfire Q and A series ... Have you tried to use the Waves Abbey Road Studio 3 Plugin? Its for mixing on headphones. I noticed that when you use the wheel to scroll through the timeline it moves pretty fast. I haven't been able to make that work with mine. It only moves when I select the "scrub" button and then move the wheel but it just moves frame by frame. How did you do that or what do you think may be happening?

What are your thoughts about this compared to your old faderport? I’m also coming from that same one and I’ve been thinking about upgrading, every time I touch my fader the channel level moves like 2db which gets annoying. You should try it on your left hand, I find it super fast when punching in rides, keep my right hand on the mouse or fast forward and rewind keys and left hand on the fader and if I need to hit any other button i reach over quickly with my thumb
It's night and day compared to the old faderport, much much better built, more functions and a much better fader, smother, quiter, it's got led, names, barcode. I don't do punch ins, I don't really record, I use this for automation and I don't even really use the transport, but I do use it for solo'ing, usually in mastering when comparing, it's a lot better for me to have a button for that

ive updated my firmware on the x touch, and most of the features work, but the track selection is key when you're mixing sound for film

I bought the faderport v2 and I'm thinking about returning that and buy the x one instead. Do you think the build quality is ok? I've always hear people say things about behringer build quialties... Is it still working alright for you?

Same question here again: how do you reach track 9 in Pro Tools? You can reach 1-8 with channel select and you can jump banks of 16 tracks but you can not reach the channels/tracks in between like 9-15 and so on. They are "deactivated" ... any thoughts?
Banks are of 8. Make sure you're using the right protocol
Hey, Have you ever figured out how to Pan a Stereo Track in Pro tools? The overlay makes it seem Like I can but I have no idea what the modifier key is to use TURN PUSH L-R
I've never panned a stereo track, I'm not even sure what you mean. A stereo track is stereo, hard L/R
@@mixbustv Stereo tracks in protools have two pan knobs(dual pan). I guess that's what he means.
Great video! I have always steered away from Behringer products before because of their poor build quality and poor, we'll, evetrhing I guess, but after they produced that mixer with Midas and upgraded their fabric I seems like their starting to really make good products so I'll be giving them another chance at some products. This faderstrip sure looked nice. So thank you David for showing it. To us!

Same thing. And i have a friend who already replaced all faders on X32 mixer, some of them twice and another one which has super cheap UMC22 interface which works perfectly. But looking at their cheap devices and analog synth clones it's hard to resist. For this proce i could replace it every year :)
I have a cheap behringer UMC202HD no complain here. The only gripe I have is the monitor knob which makes some static noise (potentiometer problem I guess) but is just when you move it. I've put WD-40 and it stops anyway
I recently bought an X-touch One and I have the problem that the LED-Meter is not working. Does anyone have an idea what might be the problem? The DAW is also Pro Tools Version 2020.11.0.
I had the Frontier Piece I liked......then I broke it. I bought this...,,,its cool, but NO PUNCHIN AND OUT...for me so far. I use my mouse with mine.

Nothing controls sends other than Avid controllers on PT

If you select a track using your mouse does the X-Touch follow the track selection in Pro Tools? or Do you need to select the track using the controller? I really hope it follows your selection in Pro Tools as having to use the controller buttons to cycle to the track you wan't to control especially with big sessions really messes up the workflow.

With my xtouch one the jog wheel doesn't seem to be working in pro tools. Is there a setting I'm missing?

I've got an older Netbook with Windows XP (No internet connection) and a desktop with Windows 7. The 2 best operating systems made by Microsoft. I have one device with my debit card and personal info for making purchases. It's a good idea to separate all hardware with MAC numbers for security reasons. You know what they say, if it's not broke don't fix it! Also, would you suggest the X-Touch or Behringer Xenyx?

Someone above said to pull up slightly on the jog wheel and it gets smoother/faster.
Also, you should update to 1.07 firmware that's now available.
WORKING FIX PRO TOOLS ONLY
Do not set these up the regular way you'd do a controller. I have figured out a way that gets all functions %100 working
Goto Setup>MIDI>Midi Studio
The instrument Name, Model, Etc is not important. I have mine set as Klark Teknik DN3600
For the Input and output select your X Touch
Close Midi Studio
Now goto Setup>Peripherals
Under Type Select HUI then select your X Touch In and Out.

This unit is garbage. As a professional sound editor I got one for studio 2. It all worked fine after some fiddling around but the most important element, the control that is used the most - the jog wheel - is just utterly unsuitable for the job. It's OK for jogging a couple of frames here and there but if you want to wind it forward a couple of seconds be prepared for repetitive strain injury. The resistance when turning the jog wheel just makes the unit unfit for professional use. It's using components that take away fluidity as it is akin to turning an old bakelite light switch. Do yourself (and you fingers) a favour and spend a bit more money on something that actually works properly. You have been warned.
Nobody uses this for anything but the fader for automation. Just so you know
Maybe in your world this is the case that no-one uses the jog wheel which is amazing but in my world it is one of it's most important functions for navigation. It's still garbage. Save up and buy something worthwhile
