Something new came out since I made this video, which is V-Control Pro now supports and supercharges the Faderport for Pro Tools. I'm currently testing it so that will be in the updated review video at somepoint!
@@oscarpatxot659 Agreed, the developer is very on top of it and it seems to continue to keep getting better which is awesome! I am really enjoying it as well!
Thank you. This was very insightful. I just bought the atom sq and I was searching for videos to see how it works with ProTools. Your video was the closest thing I found. The Atom SQ is also a Presonus product. Seeing these issues you’ve had with the Fader and ProTools has opened my eyes and I’m glad I haven’t purchased my DAW yet.
Glad it was helpful!! Ahh very nice, that's cool! Most presonus products come with a version of Studio One, might be worth checking out if you're debating a daw, it's a pretty useful version of the DAW actually, not something completely watered down.
I would not suggest the older faderport unless you are working with an older system(yes, I miss the buttons to swap MIX and EDIT screens). With the FP2, using neyrinck's V-COntrol Pro makes a huge improvement. The single thing that makes it worthwhile is the ability to control any plugin parameter by hitting the LINK button on the FP2, and then hover the mouse cursor over any plugin control. Then twist the knob. SSL offers this on the UF1, but its $699.
The free version that has this I is just a free trial, so you can test it out and it will work, but then to continue after the trial period, you will have to pay.
@@ANAKCreates so what does the free unlicensed version do as I know that there’s a free trial and paid license but there’s also the option to use the program unlicensed. Would that work with the device!
I think the actual free version is for between their control app on a tablet, but I don't believe it has the FaderPort supercharging (or other control surfaces) aspect in it. So it has adifferent purpose, but in the case of the faderport I don't believe it will do anything
You should get the old first-gen Faderport. It does have a BANK button and works fine with the very latest PT 2021.10. It also includes buttons to switch between MIX and EDIT windows(very handy) and the SHIFT button is in a different spot.
Hi I have the Classic or the first-gen.. But the BANK doesn't work in Pro Tools. I have tried it and it's working on Logic but not on PT. MacOS Ventura, latest PT version.
Hey thanks for the video. Just bought one of these and was likewise hoping for more/easier functionality with Pro Tools. Question for something I'm running into - I seem to be able to navigate to certain tracks but not other, as though certain tracks are available inside these "channels" and certain ones are not. Can you manually assign tracks to the different channels?
No problem, glad it helps!! So it sounds like you need to do the banking thing sometimes. so what happens is the Faderport can seemlessly change between tracks within the bank that your in (which is like 32 tracks or so) but if it falls outside of that, then the Channel button on the faderport will blink, and you have to hit that for the bank to change, then it will be "focused" on the track you're trying to get to. Does that makes sense and help??
dude, SUPER helpful. I'm looking for some faders, but want them to focus on the track I highlight. I also JUST WANT FADERS (not a bunch of useless buttons) I would love a 4 fader compact unit. I was looking at the Icon Platform M, but you have to add on a $200 LCD screen bringing the total over $600.
Thank you! Glad you found it helpful!!! TOtally agree haha I would love that as well. The v-Control Pro software really helps the Faderport, that update was released after I made this video, still playing with it testing it out for an updated video. I did look at the Platform M as well, but it also appears to have similar restrictions due to HUI as the faderport, just a bit better due to having 8 faders.. I would love it if a company came out with a simple 4 fader unit, that would be great!!
@@ANAKCreates a stripped down, compact 4 channel controller with eucon compatibility for under $500 would be a game changer. Almost like a 4 channel S3. I dont want an iPad dock. I can't justify $200 for a Faderport, plus the cost of ADDITIONAL software to make it work properly.
@@mattdegnan2989 Totally agree, there needs to be more Eucon compatible stuff in general, I don't feel there are that many. I agree with you there, it sucks to need additional software to make it work the way it should. Still on the search, but if I find something, I can guarantee i'll be making a video about it! haha
I had a Faderport 16 for a few months. All those buttons are the selling point, in addition to the fader. The idea is to get away from using your mouse and keyboard hot-keys. If you’re good with a mouse and keyboard, it’s tough to get used to the FaderPort (learning curve) instead of grabbing your mouse.
haha I don't actually, I have mostly moved away from using faders when mixing, and the odd time I do, I use the AVID app on ipad, it does what I need to do. Just hasn't been worth upgrading to for me!

In using Vcontrol and love it. The are a few quirks but the developer is always on top of things and updating the software.

can you do a review of how the V-Control changes the use of the faderport in Pro Tools?
there is a neat shortcut "shift+control" and click to the track... Perfectly working
Ahh good to know! Thanks for the info!!

Thanks for saving me the time and hassle! I have an S3 at my studio but was hoping for a single fader for my mobile rig.
Amazing!! Happy it helped!! Yeah, it's not quite as easy as they make it look when it comes to PT haha
i believe you meant to say that you wanted a "tactile" fader, not a "tactical" fader.
haha good catch!!!! Yes, that's correct!!

Love the t 👕 where did you get it? Can I order one????? Btw pro tools rock 🤟🏻
Protools does rock
It’s special edition so far, coming soon I believe! Haha
I'm sure you have a 16trck by now

It is a bit of a pain. But the app V-Control Pro is fixing many of my frustrations, still testing it out and will be making a followup video about it!
