- A side by side comparison of the X Touch One and the Faderport - Part 2. Because of my limited time with the units, to know more about the functions there are other sites on RUclips and also visit the company product page. Thank you for subscribing, watching, commenting, liking and sharing. Peace
On the X-Touch One, you can change modes simply by pressing stop + the encoder (yes, I read the manual). You needn't turn it on and off to reset a mode (as you stated). I ended up picking up the Behringer between your two videos, even as a Studio One user (because I needed MIDI CC control, that only the Behringer does). There are still a few wonky things I've encountered with the Behringer, but so far I'm hapy with it. Thanks for opening up answering my question on how the two faders sound -- that was really helpful to see. Love to see you're also into photography. :)
Scott thank you for clarifying the other process for changing the modes. I did realized that after I mistakenly mention only one way. Glad you were able to make your decision. Best thing about it is, in the scheme of things (cost of gear in the studio) $149 is a bargain.
Cool, I'm sure you will enjoy it and it will meet your needs. If not sell that sucker and get what works. Peace
Thank you so very much for this review. WHEW!!!!!! I've been searching for info for twenty - four hours on the X-Touch One before hitting "BUY" on my shopping cart in SWEETWATER. Very informative and well done. I have the basic Harrison and I write in REASON 10. SO I hope this works well with Propellerhead.
Ben Johnson Hey man, I am a Reason user and I was curious to see how you liked your X-Touch One? I’m going back and forth myself and there’s not a whole lot of feedback for Reason users!
You are a saint my guy. I’ve been tussling between the two and the icon nano. Great critique of both.
Thanks Michael, since I made this video Presonus has released another version of the Faderport. As I mentioned I went with the X Touch. It serves my needs well.
@@discorrdat Have you tried the Icon Nano? That’s my last debate. I’m leaning X Touch at the moment due to the Cubase integration and future usage. The LEDs and expandability edge out the faderport even though that one is prettier 😎so now it’s Nano or X Touch.
I have the Behringer X-Touch and X-Touch extender on order looking forward to getting my hands on an analogue feeling desk again in this world of mouse and DAW
Yankee Drummer what is the xtender! What does it do?

Thank you for comparing these two devices. You helped me in my choice... Good job :-)
Just the right vid for me. Looking at those two. Thinking also of getting something with joggle and everything on the right, then adding faders later. I got Studio One 3 so those odd buttons on the PreSonus may be relevant to me. Thanks!
Thanks for making this, it really helped me out. I wish i could afford the x touch 8, i'm going to go with the x One and hope I can get some use out of it.
Thank you for this comparison
Thank you so much for this great video.. Ordered the X Touch today!!
Cool vid man, i was looking at the touch one but recently ordered the the full x touch daw controller....cant wait to play with it.
Same here and ordered the X-Touch extender to go with it
Thank you! You exactly answered things I was wondering about.
the x touch looks professional
I love my X-touch, it controls everything in Reason.
At the ten minute mark of the video, you stated that it was a two-step process to change channels and have it follow along on the sequencer screen. I'm using REASON 10 without that issue. It moves along in my sequencer with just the touch of the channel button alone. Maybe they fixed it since this video was made. I haven't tried using it with Harrison (which I also have).
What's up Ben. Yes it's a two step process with Harrison and also I was told it was the case with Studio One. Just to clarify, the channel will switch with the X One but in the DAW the channel will not be highlighted until you press the select button. I'm glad it's working for you in Reason. I am going to check now to see if there is an update on Behringer's site. Thank you for the input. Peace
James ג'יימ Ya'aqov do you know if this is an issue n Logic Pro X? Thx!!!
Thanks for this great and detailed overview ! Very nice hand language hey ! Working on LogicProX, I might go for the X touch One, thanx again !
After a few trial and errors I figured out how to control my EQ, effects and frequencies with the xtouch one
Can you explain how? Thanks
@@realmusic4you this is how I know to do it with studio one 3.
1.) Setup the controller to be used with your DAW like usual.
2.) Select the song you're working on
3.) to your bottom left you'll see symbols for bus, ex, vca, and remote.
Select and remote it should be highlighted
4.) to the far left you'll see inputs, outputs, external, and instru. Select external
5.) you will see external devices to the right select your control surface. Go to edit.
6.) The external devices window will open up.
7.select between track, sends, pan, plug-in, fx
you have to add fx eq whatever you're using by hand first.**
8.) open what ever plug in you're going to use right click select assign to and it should pop up in the window now just use the know to adjust to what you're doing.
You will still have to use the mouse to navigate every so often though but if you're not worried about that then you're good to go
I hope this helps if not let me know I'll do a video too.
@@levonlane8383Thanks, I have not actually purchased this yet, as it is 2019 and I am betting that as soon as I buy It, a new updated, more advanced, improved Unit will be released. I was just trying to make sure I knew how to sweep the frequencies once I bought it as that is a major EQ function that I use all the time. I purchased Studio One Pro With the 2.5 version, however, Cubase seems to keep me satisfied with my musical productions.
I also own Flstudio Producer but don't use it. I will contact Behringer Support and see if I can get a heads up on any plans to introduce a newer model of the X-Touch. Have you checked out the ICON Pro Audio - QCon Pro G2?
@@realmusic4you O OK... I have not checked out the Icon yet but I will right now. I bought the Xtouch one because I use the Behringer x32 at church for our live performances, and this is just a mini version of it i want to get the extension to make it a full 9 tracks I can work with at once.
You like your controllers! Thanks for the video as I'm debating between these two devices at this very moment.
Thank you. I was wondering which one to get... this has made my mind up.
Hey Larry, glad you were able to make your decision and get back to making some good music. Peace
You should do a video on how to set up the Behringer X Touch One with Harrison MixBus. What you think?
Will do. Thx
Ciao James, thank you for your video, i was really confused on wich one buy and now i'm sure to go with xtouch one(I'm using ableton). Just a question : with the fader you will control just the volume or you can control also a parameter automation?I would like to use for example to write and automation on a vst fx ..Thanks :)
PS: I don't know why someone here told to you something about the pronunciation of "behringer", I am italian and I say it in the same way; if you see the official behringer video it's pronunced as we do :)
Mairo it appears that you can control the automation with the fader. You can assign aitomation to the function keys and then use the faders.
i'M looking at this as well. I already have the faderport one but this xtouch one looks to have some features I really like. I also use Harrison Mixbus (stay woke) as well as Reaper.
Hey Eric, I am enjoying using the X Touch One with Harrison Mixbus. At $149 you really can't go wrong. If you do get it, let share our experience with it and Harrison. Maybe we can help each other. Peace
hey man loved the vid, very informative. I just wanted to know what hardware is between your artist mix and your keyboard. I'm trying to remember the name of it and it's really killing me!!
It's Softube Console 1. www.softube.com/console1#/
Great comparison James. Was looking at the Faderport but after seeing this, there is no doubt you get more functionality with the X Touch. Also cheaper. I haven't been able to find out anywhere, if the silver side panels can be removed on the X Touch One as i have a specific rack it needs to fit into. Can you shed any light on this please.
Beautiful studio!
What’s the model of your trackball? You prefer over a mouse I suppose.
Quite a setup you have there. Kudos to you sir!
Thank you sir. But as you know, the name of the game is what you do with it. Much success.
@@CreativeSpacestudios most definitely
Love the video and comparison and transparency. Beautiful set up! #Liked and subscribed!
Thank you sir. Peace and good music to you.
Thank you!
Great review!
Nice choice of studio gear! Great job on video.
Hey Andrew, thank you. I hope to make more video in the near future. I revamped my studio with a lot of new gear!
I think the Behringer is a no brainer at the price. I have one. I call it Darth :)
dude i love your studio. it looks so cozy
Thank you. It is cozy...sometimes too cozy! 😁
Nice vid, thanks a lot. I'll buy the touch for working on cubase.
Martin did you purchase the X Touch and how is it working out?
Hey! Nice vid:) just one q. Does these faders follow if you select a track with the mouse, not on the device? I mean, instead of pressing next track on the devices several times to get from track 1 to 10, can you select a new track with the mouse instead and the Control surfaces fader will follow and target that selected track aswell?
Tnx for answering:)!!
Does the X Touch One run hot? I have an X-Touch could be used as a heater.
really nice video! thanks!
Hi! Nice video...!
I have a question... Can you automatize sends levels with the X Touch One? I have this controller and I can't get it work, I can only use fader for track volume...
Thanks
Nice vid, and great setup you got. Thanks for the detailed breakdown. Did the firmware update improve the channel selection process on the X Touch One?
Also, cool to see you rockin the Console 1 with the single fader controller - that's the only thing the Console 1 is missing! I was considering the same setup. Could you do a video demoing how you use them together in a session/mix please? Interested in the workflow.
Hey Jordan, don't know if I said thanks. Hoping to create more content soon. Been busy with a few projects. Peace
It helps! Thank you, Man!
Hi, thank you for doing this Comparision. @ 9:30 was the 'select track' issue resolved with a Behringer update?
Yes, it was with the latest firmware update.
@@discorrdat Thank you.
@@discorrdat yes, very cool... I have it... another question... can the fader be used to automate another parameters besides the gain?
@@Soundart001 Sorry to say I don't know. I have only used it for gain.
James ג'יימ Ya'aqov ok, thank you anyway !
Thanks for the review I got a b control and it doesn't have a transport control on a I don't know why they did that but I need extra transport control I've been doing a transport control with a mouse but it looks like this x touch is a good thing
It is. I've had it now for a few months and I'm enjoying using it. And yes it has transport.
Do you know if the Behringer works well with studio one?
What;s up Levon? Chk out the attached link. ruclips.net/video/FJ82PpCePas/видео.html
Hi James, a question I use Samplitude Pro X5 Suite with Presonus Faderport. I am wondering if I can only control one track or by changing channel I can always drive the other tracks individually? thanks
Romeo. (Italy)
Nice video. Thanks... So after 1 year how are these units holding up? Which one do you still prefer? How's the build quality on the X Touch One? No issues? Thanks in advance...
Where are you guys finding the X-touch One for $150? Everywhere I'm seeing it for $219.
Heath it appears that Behringer increased the price. It was $149 over a year ago when it was released.
Hello.
I see you have the Softube Console 1 and the Behringer Xtouch One.
Do you know if the two surfaces can be integrated to use them at the same time?
So that when you change channels from Console 1, the Behringer fader changes, and you can control the volume of the selected track with it.
Thanks!
I have the AVID artist control all modules like you have. And its just in the closet collecting dust because Studio One v3 and v4 does not have EuCon support.
I wish it did, so I can pull out my expensive Artist controllers and use it with my DAW . currently using two Avid S3
Since AVID took over Euphonix, they seriously screwed everyone over and completely destroyed the reputation of Euphonix. I own a Euphonix System MC5,
And AVID blocked everyone who owns it from using it with pro tools, its another reason why I dumped Pro Tools & native equipment and went to PreSonus Studio One v3 and now v4
quick one, and potentially a large one. BUILD QUALITY? ive been burnt by behringer before but you've got alot of nice gear there so i'm inclined to go off your judgement based on the fader feel. i want to like the behringer more. i think i'll go for the bigger 9fader as it has touch sensitive channel select
Tex the build quality is good. I normally do not buy Behringer but this unit is great. And the cost is a no brainer.
Thank you.
Nice job bro, and nice studio too!
Great explainations
Icon pro Platform Nano Beats both of them hands down ! With a DD2 display and D3 display it’s no comparison.
I have no doubt it's a great controller. I wasn't aware of it at the time of my purchase. And I was specifically looking for a controller for Harrison Mixbus 32c. Enjoy and make great music. Peace.
It helps, thx aloooot! Btw, Nice setup man! Best.
Can u use the fader to control (& record) MIDI CC such as modulation and expression? I’ve seen people only talking about automation and I’m not sure this is the same thing
I would like to know something. I work with Cubase Pro 9.5 and 10.5, and would like to buy X-Touch One or Faderport. I would like to know if the 10mm Fader, in both devices, can be mapped to control a CC, such as CC1 (Modwheel), CC11 (Expression), etc. etc. Someone told me it can be done, someone else told me no. Could you give me this information? Thanks a lot. :-)
Can you go into write/ touch/ latch automation mode straight from the x touch one?
Yes - From manual: MC - there are eight MC modes, each
set up for a different popular DAW.
One of these is the standard Mackie
Control mode, which is the default
mode for the X-TOUCH ONE from
the factory. Another mode is the
“MC User” mode where individual
buttons can be assigned by the
user as desired.
hi! Question; as of now, did Behringer put out the firmware update or fix for automatic channel selection that u said in a video that they had knew about and were about to fix? and does this banking select/ channel jump work now? thnx for answering!
Yes, the latest software update fixed the auto channel selection. The banking of channels also work. Peace
I tried the X 1 and found the buttons more like jelly babies... Slow to respond. Going to try the Fader port and hope the feel is more responsive.
Let me know what you think about the Fader port. Thx
@@CreativeSpacestudios will do. At the moment it is...ok... Temperamental when moving through the mixer window but I am not sure if it is user error or a compatibility issue. Transport etc is good, will update as soon as possible.
@@CreativeSpacestudios Hi. Quick update on the Fader Port. Have spoken to the retailer who l bought it from, currently not impressed with the performance. Told them I cannot locate a phone number for the UK PreSonus office and wanted to speak with a live person instead of emailing. Retailer had agreed to contact PS directly and try to sort it out. Failing that I will be returning the unit for a refund... Shame as it is very well built. Will let you know the outcome.
@@CreativeSpacestudios ok got a reply from PS tech support. I have removed then reinstalled the driver and it has made a big improvement. Still a couple of issues to resolve so waiting for them to reply to my email. The F P now scrolls through the Mixer window ok but jumps channels occasionally. The fader now lines up to correspond with the one in Logic and it responds properly when moved. Will keep you posted!
So u said you cant get X-Touch One and Presonus to independently in a DAW simultaneously, so there for they work as one unit??? I have the Icon Platform X which is a extension unit for the Icon Platform M and wonder will it act as a extension along with the X-Touch One as if the two were one unit??? Any chances u think tht would work or could be done????
What's up Skrill Head. I mentioned that I couldn't get the two units to work independently. That was after having the units a few days. I have since returned the Faderport. Since the button on the X Touch are assignable you can program the units to work together. They would independently handle different task/functions.
Creative Space studios Thanks for responding. Do you know why the X-Touch have the two buttons to bank (Fader Bank)???? How would tht work with being limited to only viewing one channel at a time???
Hi !
have you ever use X Touch with Pro Tools 12 or just with Harrison Mixbus? if so....how it works? Controls look amazing comparing with Presonus V2 but Presonus Faderport have been working with ProTools for more than 10 years and it allways worked perfectly , you can trust its firmware which is the only thing in Beringher that I have my doubts...any thoughts about it?
Thnx millions!
I have never use the X Touch with PT12. It works well with Harrison and I'm sure it would work okay with PT.
How does the they work with your Softube Console 1, if you move to different channels from the console 1 does the X Touch One follows to that channel?
Hi. I do live streams at Twitch like radio programs. Can I use this product for change spotify sound volume ?
When using the x-touch one on Mixbus, any notes/tips on configuring?
hi! is it possible to rig faders on any midi controller so they would move when you move them in daw by mouse? i mean i have cme uf50 but it doesnt work this way(
I'm sure you can connect any midi controller to work with the DAW faders. What I'm not sure of is how compatible it would be. May software company write programs to specifically work with specific DAW. I can move faders with my midi keyboard but that's about all. The faders are not accurate. Contact manufacturer and good luck!
@@CreativeSpacestudios yea! ofcourse my midi controller works with daw, i just liked when you moved faders in daw by your mouse so did automatically faders on controller, like magic))sorry if my english isnt correct

Dave Toms -- Guessing that Avid mix only works with PT
using Presonus Studio One - Presonus Faderport controllers - plug and play.

Sexy studio. Heart dynamics was the cutting edge when they where in buissness to bad there out of buissness
Thank you. Yes, I still like the feel of the Hart Dynamics Drums. I guess they couldn't compete with Roland especially since you had to use Roland's drum module. Hart should have come up with their own module. They would probably still be in business.
I purchased x touch one how do I update the firmware on windows? can someone help me? thank you
Semor the instructions are on the Behringer webpage. Download the firmware update 1.07 and the instructions are included in the download.
bought the X touch and updated firmware to 1.7 set it to MC Studio one mode and set up presonus external device to Mackie Control and the x touch one fader is not transmitting or receiving volume changes , it leaves a trail of nodes but they are the same value( not reflecting the volume changes). Tried on both Presonus studio 4.1 and Logic X, the identical behavior. All other functions operate correctly, When powered on the fader moves to it's default position, so the motor works. Anyone else having this or know what to do? Looks like something software related but it's supposed to be plug and play.
Question: Was the X touch One working properly with Firmware 1.04? I haven't updated yet mainly because the update is PC only and not Mac. Go figure. I will follow up if and when I have more information.
it was a faulty unit! had it exchanged and the new one works fine- 1.7 update much better ( I'm on windows)- I wonder if the Mac version already has the update embedded in it? Thanks so much for your review, very instrumental in me going for the X touch and very happy with it. all the best
Great you got it working. I am waiting on a reply from Behringer regarding the update for Mac Users.
I just bought the X-Touch One and I too updated the firmware to 1.7 (on a Mac with OSX Sierra). Like you using both Logic Pro X and Studio One 4 everything but the fader works as it should. However, the fader does not respond to any fader information in the DAW. Also, the movement of the X-Touch fader becomes jerky and seems as if it's sticking in various places (like it's being held back by a gear feeling). If I change to a track that has a different volume the fader has no reaction at all. Something is definitely not right here.
@@winip9261 thanks Paul for that information. I think I will wait to update.
Two steps to skip channel is no-go for me. Also there is S1 Artist in Faderport 2 and Black Friday is coming so decision is made to get it and later upgrade S1 to Pro. But thanks for your video.
They already fixed that in a firmware update.

Bra, I appreciate the video but get to the point. You are chattering way too much. And learn how to pronounce Behringer.
Good King, Since this is my second video I appreciate all the feedback I can get. Regarding the "Behringer" name, I was told by a rep how to pronounce it. It is German. But I do understand that in the US we tend to think all languages start with English! Also regarding getting to the point, I will try to do better. I am trying to develop a community and exchange ideas and thoughts. The studio can be a lonely place. BTW, you can fast forward to the point on RUclips. And in the Last Avengers Movie, half of the Avengers die.
Damn, now i feel like crap.let me apologize for being a jerk. You obviously sir are a gentleman. I sincerely wish you the best and God Bless. again sorry for being an asshole!
Since you seem to be open to suggestion, I find that taking the time to make a “storyboard” of sorts, with shots and a pretty specific idea of what you want to show and say, will make your videos more engaging. No fancy graphics needed, of course. Yes, it takes a lot more time than a single unscripted shot, but if it gets you 10 or 100 times more views, that is definitely worth your while, and could earn you some money. It’s up to you what you want your channel to be, and your video is certainly informative. It’s just that most RUclips viewers come with expectations that are not conducive to a long attention span. :-) Thank you for your efforts in making this video.

I'm sorry I wasted your time. And thank you for taking the time out of your busy music career to tell me. I watched your video also. And you do need those 2 minutes back to work on that song! Peace
Question about X-touch One: How can I avoid the sound of an instrument note when pressing any controller button? This creates some inconvenience. I'm not saying if the controller channel is tuned to some keyboard instrument, then the fader should not be touched at all, because it works like a pitch. It is difficult to put the fader back in order for FINE to fall into place to the note. Who has experienced such problems, tell me the way out?!
If you listen carefully, this video has what sounds like a very persistent angry bird cheeping.
